Just for your info, South Floyd is not the state champ. they won the in game competition. this is not the state championship cheerleading competition. they chose not to compete in that competition.

Too bad South Floyd isnt going to nationals like everyone else who is any good. Maybe then that would prove who is the best in the 15th region. Maybe they should consider trying to qualify next year. especially since they are so awesome

The All A cheerleading competition is on Saturday morning during the All a tournament in which the squads that belong to a Class A school compete with 2 1/2 minute routines to determine the Cheerleading champion in the State. These squads include squads that are not fortunate enough to have their basketball teams make it to the All a state tournament.

the in game tournament competition only includes those whos basketball teams are in the state tournament. not exactly the fairest judgement of who is the best in the state.

I don't think that one person from SF was even trying to imply such. They were well aware of what they were cheering in, who their competition was, and that their winning the in-game competition just made them the best squad out of (16) squads in a State Tournament setting. I appreciate good cheer leaders and good efforts to lead a crowd at a ballgame... I mean that is why they call them cheer leaders.

You know I believe everyone is just as proud of our 15th region winners @ the At-large competition! I know I am and have already posted such.

I also know that learning how to be gracious in victory is appreciated by most people, just as much as being gracious in defeat....

I am proud of all 15th region squads who have the hutspah to get out there and compete @ any competition! Everytime we win, it's cause for celebration!

Well. Thanks PVilleCheer. But I am VERY PROUD of SF. We are the first squad(from SF)to Compete at a State Level and Win...Although it is In-Game...you know what thats our thing and thats what we love ...and YES!! SF did place 3rd at the At-Large Comp. the trophy is setting here in Hi-Hat..iv seen it and held it...and by the way p.ville is there EVERY YEAR and this was SF's first time at this comp. i think 3rd place is pretty nice..SFHS cheerleaders also won at the ALL 'A' at AC(AC choose to have it judged)...I am pretty sure p.ville was judged in it also...and even though ball games are not as big as kapos orany other comp. like the All A At Large....we are very competitive at games too...SFHS aslo recived a Bid to NCA Nationals but didn't go because we don't have alot of experinced cheerleaders on our squad...NO seniors...most of the squad are freshman...so we are tryin again next year for a bid and will be going if we get it....Good Job Girls!:loveya:

South Floyd competed against pikeville at the 15th region All A Tourn. and placed 1st and pikeville placed 6th out of 7... and just so you know South Floyd got the chance to compete at the NCA National Championship in Texas but did not go! so the cheerleaders are good enough to make it to nationals and next year count on us beingt there!

FYI.............South Floyd Cheerleaders won 1st in the All A regionals @ AC
South Floyd Cheerleaders won 1st @ the All A in game competition at Richmond. So the SFHS boys basketball team needs a congrats for getting the girls in that competition. And they did compete for the 1st time @ Saturday's competition and placed 3rd for the Medium Varsity division. So for such a young squad it was a great accomplishment.............."3" Trophies in 1 week..........and if you want to see pics be sure and get you a Floyd County Times you will see the "3" tropies or you can just wait and see them in the Trophy Case @ SFHS
As for the overall state champs...which i think means they scored the highest points over all squads in all divisions.. that went to Hazard.. so Congrats to Hazard.

I was there with my daughter that does not go to SF and she loved them. shes ready to move SF area so she could be on the team and cheer with the state champs. Its funny that the cheer coach can get a hole squad to be a team but the basketball cant get 5 players to work as a team when their on the floor.

I think that was how the cheerleaders were allowed to have the chance to participate in the state. The basketball team had to get there by winning the region first and then came the cheerleaders.

I did not say I agreed with the actions of a few players. I agree that it was not very becoming of young adults and although the damage has been done fortunately there are things that can be done about it to prevent this in the future. The cheerleaders did an outstanding job and Coach I. should be very proud as we all are of our girls. They are top notch in my book.

Looks to me like South Floyd won the in-game title for the boys' basketball tournament but finished third in the medium varsity division of the much, much tougher cheerleading competition (with first place to Hazard and second to Model). Pikeville won both the small and large varsity cheer competitions.

From talking to cheerleaders, their coaches and their parents over the years, the in-game competition is the least important of those because it's only open to cheer squads affiliated with basketball teams in the All A state tournament.

After further review, one thing is very clear: The All A people have waaaaaaaaaaay too many cheerleading competitions, because there's no way to keep them all straight.

second of all state champs thats lame sf is not the class a state champs period that cheered a game and were judged on how they supported there team and they won that so they are the class a cheerleading game champs big deal and they qualified for nationals??? what nationals uca? or nca thats a little differnt than the uca nationals that all the great squads go to the one that uk goes to for college and if sf is so great how come they didnt win class a state comp. or get outta kapos region yesterday hmmmm just wondering why pikeville would be so jealous when they win there stuff

If the actual south floyd cheerleaders arent making a big deal out of it, they need to tell their buddies that they need to quit talking about it. Those people are just making the south floyd cheerleaders look bad. And i assure you, no one from the pikeville side is jealous. they have more important stuff to worry about. and if anything, they are happy for south floyd. SF wouldnt have won the award if they didnt deserve it.

Ohh, I'm so sure that Hazard is jealous of South Floyd. Ya know, Hazard did beat SF, why would they be jealous of them?? lol, same for pikeville. SF has came along way, and i congratulate them on winning the in-game comp for the boys, but quit promoting negative publicity. CONGRATZ SF!
