I was in the tribe at this game and I was extremely proud of my East Ridge Warriors. They might not be as consistant as I wish they could be but they have some good pieces and a darn good team. They played with alot of heart and the game was ref fairly on both sides props to that just seems like Paintsville didn't take them seriously enough when they came into the game.

Mark Bartley played a great game. Look's like the ER sophomore was the one who stood out in this one. There was also a little conflict between Mark and Landon Slone and it seemed like after that they had gotten in Slone's head and he could not do nothing. You could hear him cussing in the stands.

Good luck Friday night against Valley.....if ya play like ya did tonight, NO PROBLEM!
BTW-I heard tonight that ER cheerleaders wasn't going to SV, something about their coach not wanting to go. Surprising though...big district game and their such rivals!! I dunno any of this for sure though....forgot to ask any of the cheerleaders after the game.

The Warriors play as a Team each night they step out on the floor.. just because u lose doesnt mean u dont play as a team it means u arent consistent or just having a bad night or just not executing well enough.. but tonight like many nights the warriors have played top teams they came together and won as a team.. its games like these that make u think Whose gonna win the 15th? cause everyone knows that the Paintsville tigers was the picks at the beginning and now its up for grabs to say who could bring the tittle home and travel to rupp... Good win Warriors lets look to friday night and get us another win maybe heat up district a little bit.. :) Congratz to the Warriors Mark Bartley Anthony Coleman.. Tyler McCoy, Kyle Fletcher, and Mike Rowe... couple of young guys and about 3 whose been in the business for a while.. i think they got the talent and i know they can go the distance when it counts.. lets just see how things unfold.. Congratz again..

It's time that everyone stop this legend crap and just call a spade a spade. Bill Mike is one of those guys that will bask in his own glory when things are good, but when it starts getting tough he puckers up and acts just like a big baby. He is a very poor example of what a leader and role model is all about......(ie , throwing trophies away, not excepting trophies, walking out, etc, etc, etc.)

The only time Bill Mike has ever won anything was when he had more talent than they had at UK.

How can you criticize one of his players for quitting when he acts and does the exact same thing that they do. Bill Mike's time has come and gone. He is now nothing more than an embarrassment.

WOW... you must really know nothing about this man, this team, or Paintsville... Some people know all about the real BMR, not this fabricated legend crap that gets posted all over the place.

FACT; He has never won anything that the ball boys could not have won with all of the talent he had at his disposal. Matter of fact now that the talent pool has run dry, it seems like it has been forever since he has WON ANYTHING at all. How long has it been now, I cant remember the last time he has won anything, yet he is still a god to some of you people.

well again, you need to know who and what your talking about... but I never said anything about him being a GOD or a Saint, because that would be ignorant of me... I'm just saying you don't know the circustances... last time I checked it isn't the coach that plays... we may not have gone to Rupp in a while but if you ask anyone Paintsville is always a team to watch out for in the 15th no matter who good or bad the season is...

as I stated earlier... know whats going on before you go and make judgments about BMR... he is been the coach for 20+ years and I'm pretty sure times were a lot rougher for example 2 years ago when we only won 3 games... and thats all I was saying... he doesn't let anyone get the best of him and he wouldn't go out like this...

Then I guess that means what I said a few minutes ago that the ball boys could have won with what all he had to work with. When he wins he gets the glory, when he loses it's because of the players .

Then why did he quit? Thats a real fine example to set. I'll just bet that when Kevin Williams quit and he wanted to come back that he made him feel about 2 inches tall. Then he goes and does the same thing.

I believe Paintsville won the district in 03' there Chilly. And despite what you may think, they should have won the region but their 2 best players were on the bench for about 28 of the 32 minutes of the championship game. And I do believe they finished the season 24-4 that year, they also won the All "A" Region that year.

The talent pool hasn't run out Chilly, these boys just don't what it takes to play BMR, if they had the heart and killer instinct that the 2002-03 team had, they would be undefeated in Region play right now.

To much work involved to coach at Pikeville College. Bill Mike is to used to having his flunkys around to blow his nose for him and to wipe his butt to try and coach where they have a budget. Besides there wouldn't be enough room on there bench to supply 3 coaches for every player like he has at Paintsville.

I think some call that unrealized potential.Potential? Whoever came up with the notion that there was so much potential there. Paintsville fans started this whole hype thing and a bunch of you all bought into it. This group of kids are only playing now and played early on because there was just flat no one else willing to come out and play at Paintsville. It wasn't because they were better than a bunch of upperclassmen, there just wasn't anybody else there. That is the only reason why.

Take a group of just ordinary kids and turn them into a competetive team like Randy Anderson has done this year and I'll gladly praise Bill Mike. But he has never been able to do that. He has always had more raw talent and size to work with than anybody anywhere. That is the only times in his career that he has ever done anything.

Look buddy, I have no idea who you are but obviously you can figure out who I am. I don't appreciate you talking about Coach like that and I am sure a bunch of others don't as well. He has done more for the Paintsville basketball program than me or John Pelphrey ever did. He gave us the guidance to become great people and hard workers after our playing days were over and showed us what hard work could give us. Do you think any of his players just came in the gym from day one and were great players. I owe all of my success to him and the other coaches who were there when I played, without them I would have not been the player that I was. As for you, you have no idea what it takes to become a great coach or player. You need to call and ask Coach Runyon what it takes and take your rant with it!!!!!!:moon:

You need to call and ask Coach Runyon what it takes and take your rant with it!!!!!!:moon:Yea buddy, I can figure out enough to know who your NOT.

What has BMR and Paintsville ever done to you????? Did they beat you every time you played? Or maybe you weren't good enough to play at Paintsville. All you ever do is bad mouth BMR and Paintsville. You're entitled to your opinions, however lame they may be. This is the last go-around with you because I'm not going to read your posts ever again. But, if all I had to do in life is just ridicule BMR and Paintsville, then shoot me and put me out of my misery.Refer back to post #77.

Hey Willy, since I have been reading the rest of your posts I have been thinking. Have you ever been more than someone who "hates" on people that have success? You are probably jealous about what Coach Runyon has done in his career and you are upset that you never got a chance to accomplish that much. Let's recap his career shall we:

24 years
475 Career Wins (19.8 wins a year!!!!)

13 District Titles
7 Region Titles
6 All "A" Region Titles
3 Appearances in the KHSAA "Sweet 16" Final Four
2 Appearances in the KHSAA "Sweet 16" State Championship
1 State Championship
2 Mr. Basketball's

You find another Coach in Eastern Kentucky that has done that with their talent? As I mentioned before, do you think he was just given this talent, it had to be developed and put into a system where it would flourish - that my friend is what a COACH does!!!!!!!!!!

:ChairHit:Then whats been the problem since 1998. What happened to that talent developing machine. Hard to develope kids to be 6'8"-6'10"-6'7". I know that Pelphreys dad was a coach himself somewhere. Maybe that had a bunch to do with his success.Did Bill Mike teach you how to be 6'10". Did he teach McKenzie how to be 6'7". Did he teach Ratliff how to be 6"8". I dont think so. And by the way I think that Pelphrey was about 6'7" to wasn't he.

Ironic that when the size left or vanished, Bill Mike's success did to.

and you will see who I AM or notMaybe he should have taught you that when you are on the state's payroll that you shouldn't have time to be sitting on a computer all day . It's nice to see how your tax dollars get spent. Dont you have a class to teach about now if you are JR. He is a teacher at Paintsville High School right.

What do you want him to do, win the region every year? He was Runner-Up twice, won the All "A" twice, I still think that is success. Three years ago he was playing 8th graders, last year they got beat by the Regional Champions in Double OT by one, this year who knows.

Look, it doesn't matter what I say you won't get it.

BTW, it is hard to show kids 6'8"-6'10" how to play. You have to develop hands, foot work, conditioning skills, post moves, etc. But I guess you take that for granted too.

I will leave you this quote from Rick Pitino when he was at Paintsville in 1997 watching a practice, "Coach (Runyon) you have the most organized and productive high school practice I have seen."

This has just been a big waste of time, and now that I am good and mad I will go about my day knowing that you still don't get it!!! Good job East Ridge in the game the other night!!!!!

congrats to east ridge on a good win against a WELL COACHED paintsville team. Coach Runyon is a fine coach and he has proven with his overall record and state title. however i hope they lose tonight to my cardinals, lol. sorry J.R.

I always give credit when credit is due, congrats to BMR on his past accomplishments. BUT... with the talent that has come thru those halls, the state trophies should be lined up! That is not the kids fault.

You had "heart and killer instinct" what college did BMR promote you to for a basketball scholarship?

Well Paintsville should have won due to their rating as a better team, but the coach didnt have anything to do with the team winning or losing, BMR is a good coach he knows how to win, but sometimes things just dont go ur way.. GOod win warriors lets go get them Wildcats tonight

Wow, I cannot believe this score. It must be nice to be a coach in the 15th region. It is wide open. I think even Phelps might have a chance to win it all!

Paintsville will be ok... every team no matter how good or bad they are has a off game. East Ridge is actually a better team than what they are givin credit for. They just need to work together more as a team.

They just need to work together more as a team. The biggest problem right now for Paintsville is that there is so much jealousy among the players right now that I wonder if they really want to play with each other or if they even like each other. It's bound to happen when you have one player whose dad is an assistant coach, a couple players whose families buy Bill Mike about anything he wants, and players who have had to experience personal tragedies. All families at one time or another has those little spats. It also doesn't help when eveyone out there feels like they have to be the games leading scorer every time.I know that Coach VanHoose got all of the guys together yesterday to go see Bill Mike and see if they could all talk him into coming back, so maybe they have all made peace now and they can get the train back on the track again. Hope the Tigers have all there ducks in a row tonight. It wont be easy to come out of Inez with a W the way the cardinals has played the last couple of games.Good luck tonight guys.

:loveya: BMR
I am not trying to contradict you or anything, but a senior named Kyle Bass, who never even gets in at practice organized the meeting and did not want to lose best basketball coach in KY and had the team go up to coaches house and straighten some things out. That apparently worked after the way they played tonight against the Cardinals. As for Bass, he is the greatest kid i have ever met and to call a team meeting about something this important when your a kid who never even gets to play. Man!! that shows you how important BMR is to Paintsville program and what kind of kid Kyle is. congrats on your Cross Country scholorship by the way.
Congrats to East Ridge on their hard fought win:rock:
