No offense to JTA, but I don't think he'd be the top candidate. I'm afraid we'd But, BMR hasn't resigned and hasn't even said he was going so as far as I'm concerned he's still the head man.

From what I hear BMR wants to be there next year. Handling to jobs is tough but if anyone can do it than it's BMR!

BMR will be the Tiger head coach next season. He likes the fame and glory too much to hand it to someone else. He has waited too long for this opportunity to simply hand it away.

I've hear rumors about this for a while now. I can't imagine BMR having that great of a season and then calling it quits but, who knows he is very unpredictable.

Papa Johns???? PHS lost the whole line and a whole lot more. I just think there are too many holes to fill to make it to Papa's. It would be great, but it's going to be a major uphill climb.

By no means do I think the Tigers are PJS bound but I think they may suprise some people. The line that everyone keeps referring to IMHO, the only think they lost was experience and brains. Not football brains either, I think the line coming up will be much more aggressive, and a grittier bunch. That's just my opinion though.

Paintsville will have some talent next year no doubt about it...but the lost a very good offensive line and they lost two to very talented backs in Ward and Dodder. Come on guys you have to admit that it will be very hard for paintsville next year to compare to this past season...i would love to see it happen but i feel like they lost alot of talent on both sides of the ball, but it is football and anything can happen. Im not saying anymore im just going to hide and watch. lol

I would be surprised if he was not the coach next year, but I think it hurts his basketball teams early him not being there. They seem to be fine when it matters tho. BMR love him or hate him he is a winner. He gets the most of kids and has earned the respect of everyone that has ever competed against him.

Coach Runyon always has and always will do what he feels is best for PHS.  That is the only reason he took the job in the first place.  He felt the program would be taking a step in the wrong direction if he didn't take the job so he did and won a district championship in his first year and should have won a regional.  If he decides to step down he will leave the program in good hands and if he returns he will lead the program with class and continue his winning ways. I have not heard him say either way, but with the talent returning it would be hard for me to walk away from this job.

I'm about as big a fan of BMR as anyone, but don't understand this line...are you saying they were a better team than Somerset?  Got beat pretty handily by what I thought was a much better all-around team.

Yes I am saying that. From 20 to 20 Paintsville was the better team.* Somerset got 2 Td's on plays that you don't see everyday, blocked FG returned to the 2 and a tipped pass that falls right into a player's hand.* That game was much closer than the final score.

IMT he didnt coach this year. That is why p-ville didnt look nearly as good in the second half as they did the first in the district opener. While real coaches have the ability to alter their game plan at half time he doesnt he runs the same plan thru and thru. Im not an analyist or anything but something seems a little off

He can't play for the players. He made adjustments, but to make adjustments players must communicate with coaches what their seeing on the field. I don't think that happend enough this past year. A coach who doesn't coach wouldn't make it to a regional title game. I'm not sure I quite understand what you're saying about a district opener?? I'm thinking they played against Phelps in the district opener.

Since basketball ended early, why not tackle another football season.  The big difference is that in football he will have 11 positions on each side of the ball to get players their playing time which will be different than basketball where he could not get enough playing time to keep the parents happy.

Coach Runyon is just THINKING about retiring. From my sources, he is still undecided. But I still believe he will be head coach of both basketball and football in the upcoming seasons.

Well, from what he's telling his basketball players, next year they will be his only focus and he only took football to keep Chuke Williams from getting it. If he's not going to Coach Football, get out of the way and let the council hire a new someone & not someone's "boy".

I HEARD THAT TUCKER HOWARD IS GOING TO BE THE NEXT FOOTBALL COACH.
AND HAPPENED BETWEEN SLONE AND PUGH?

Coach Howard is the baseball coach, but was on the football staff lastr year.  Slone has not played football at Paintsville so that has nothing to do with whether or not Coach Runyon will be returning.

Coach Runyon is a great coach but a better MAN!  If he comes back PHS will be very competitive, if not than they will be so so.  After what the Tigers lost last season I can't see another yr. like thay had last season.  Yes, Pugh will be great but his cast is full of unproven talent.  If Humphrey is eligible than he has one weapon but if not Pugh is a one man show!  (That is a compliment by the way)

Paintsville's whole season relies on Pugh!  It will be him alone that determines how good the Tiger will be next season.  There is no argument to that!  Facts are facts!

Pugh is an outstanding athlete but football is never a one man show, at least not successful football.  Even Vince Young had help in the Rose Bowl last year, people probably did not notice during that game but his lineman were downfield all night long throwing pancake blocks for him.  Paintsville will be just fine next year because they return a lot of talent on both sides of the ball. Humphrey will be one very helpful player and hopefully a few more basketball players decide to come out also.

According to 94.7 as I heard it twice this afternoon, BMR did resign as Paintsville's football coach. They will announce the new coach by May 5, if my memory serves me right.
