Yes, this score is true. I was at the game, and Belfry played well. They have prided themselves on running the floor and playing team ball. Everyone played outstanding for the Pirates tonite, giving 110% for four full quarters.
Maynard is overlooked by many opposing coaches, but I consider him to be very dangerous. The kid single-handedly breaks presses. He finished in double digits tonite, probably around 16 or 18 points. Very quick, awesome ballhandler, and can take it to the rack.
Young, although in his first year of varsity action, is playing like a dream. He plays hard with more intensity than any defender in the 15th. He held SV's Bentley to 12 (I think) and tonite held Branham to a mere 14 (who had been averaging 30 per game over the past 5 games the last I heard). He is an extremely good player and is much deserving of his starting position. Good shooter from anywhere on the floor.
Howard, on certain nights, can be very overrated. Some nights he will take 25 to 30 shots and finish barely in double digits. Sometimes a little lazy on defense, but still and asset to the team. Other nites, like tonite, he will be on and definitely contribute to his team.
Jones, great rebounder, finds a way to score in the post. Definitely one of the key players in the win tonite. He plays hard on most nights, and that is a definite advantage to the Belfry program.
Warren, very weak at times in the post. If not making shots, he gets frustrated and his performance only gets worse until he cools off. He had a decent game tonite, really battling in the post.
Wicker and Case have been out since the first game. Case still out with collarbone injury, but is expected to play a few minutes friday nite against Pike Central. Wicker is now back off of suspension, and it has been a long wait for him. Wicker is a great rebounder, great defender, and gives it his all. Welcome back!
Congrats on a big time win, Pirates! This one should earn some respect back for the Belfry program!

Very good analysis of the game. Welcome to the board and look foward to more post from you...
I think the Belfry Pirates are back on the rise. Their goal keep getting better each game from week to week...(I'm sounding like Coach Haywood). :D This is a team that was 11-17 last year, they have turned it around and have a record of 8-5 so far.
Congrats on the win Boys !!! Go Pirates !

It was at East Ridge.
It was also the first time Belfry has defeated East Ridge in varsity action to my knowledge.

I'd love to see Belfry whip Valley all over the court. I have to admit that Valley isn't my most favorite team, but I'm doing better now that a certain player is off of the team. :D

It was nice for it to be us......I can't wait for March. I know the Regional will be tough, anything can happen.
Does anyone know where the Boys & Girls 15th Regional is this year ?

I can't remember anyone posting that ER is a top team in the region. I mean I have them fifth in the region, but there aren't alot of top quality teams in the either. They may be six or seventh, but nothing like they were last year.

Yeah ER lost some good players from last year. They are a fair team, but i don't think that they have what it takes to be a 15 th reagional contender.

I think region is at Valley this year, although im not certain. But IMO Belfry is a better team night in and night out than ER, who i believe is overrated... but that's just my opinion.
