I thought the Large was kinda confusing b/c Pike Central stuck everything and hit both fulls while Belfry nor Magoffin stuck every stunt and the fulls did not hit for either so idk i was amazed i thought it would be between Belfry and Central after seeing thee performaces but i made the statement that Goffin done really good...So congrats to all...But what was everyones views on the Large im curious...

not dissing any judges but Johnson Central's squad fell 5 TIMES ok Prestonsburg's performance was Flawless the bobbeled one time with NO FALLS so i think Prestonsburg should have been awarded the trip to state and it seems funny how a squad that had 5 major mistakes beat and team with NO! major mistakes but oh well i'm not a judge i guess you get points for falling now is that a new rule? If so then i'm unaware of it very displeased with the decision's of the judges really pitiful

I also predicted that Prestonsburg would win over Johnson Central but who knows, they may have deductions by the technical judge, we did not get to see warm ups and that is when some of the judging takes place. But the preformance we saw, I did think Prestonsburg was better. I also think that Magoffin County was much cleaner than Belfry or Pike Central, they were all good but PC seemed to be all over the place and I for one couldn't tell what was going on. Good luck to all teams at state, I think they will represent the 15th well.

No judging takes place during warm ups. A technical judge watches over the warm ups to make sure before that competition that no one is doing anything illegal. That way they are able to change things before the actual judging takes place.

I was told that prestonsburg stepped on a sign, a new rule in KAPOS, and lost points. This happened to pikeville at state last year.

I also forgot to mention that South Floyd was awarded the KPEP award which is voted on by the other squads.

yeah stepping on a sign is HALF a point ok i saw the sheet and they had ONE point off for bobbeling in a mount i think but how is it possible that Johnson Central can FALL 5 times in their routine and still beat Prestonsburg by 1 point i just don't see that being possible i don't know the exact scoring guidlines on how much of a deduction that 5 FALLS would have on a routine all i know that is P-Burg should have been awarded the trip to state.

Johnson Central beat Prestonsburg by 1 point. Prestonsburg had a .5 point deduction for stepping on a sign, so it wouldn't have mattered either way.

WELL... my thought about this is Pburg had the best routine they could have performed! Nothing went wrong... OK someone stepped on a sign wow that is NOT a big deal.Johnson Central was ok today, but prestonsburg had it won by a LONG shot! But apparenlty they need to fall 100 times and not land there tumbling passes.... maybe they should try it and then they MIGHT be able to go to state ... who knows right? Its KAPOS... and I think everyone knows who was better today...

The performance that the average person sees sometimes is misleading because you may not see a bad spot or know that stepping on a sign or a pom is a deduction, that is where the technical judge comes in and points can be deducted from an otherwise good routine. And as we well know most times the winner is decided by less than a point so every little deduction really matters.

Overall I think all the squads did a tremendous job ...Although I have to comment on Magoffin county who pulled off an excellent and clean routine...way to go girls.... Congrats to everyone who is headed to state!!!

As far as the Large Division...every squad fell out of something. I've watched the tape at least 10 times since getting home...Here's how the bobbles break down

Belfry Varsity...hands down at the end of the 2 fulls, one girl fell on last pyramid

PCC - one basket toss didn't make it and the ending pyramid timing off and came down before actually sticking solid

Magoffin - easier pyramids and transitions than Belfry and PCC, one of the three halves fell and never made it up.

It was just judges opinions I guess.

To my Belfry Varsity girls and guy.... I'm proud of the performance and difficulty that you all brought to the competition today. You could have chose to go the simple route, but you pushed yourselves to go big! I think that you were the only squad to double down in Large today and do single based extensions back up to single based libs. Just remember...I love each and every one of you and couldn't be prouder of you. :loveya: ;)

I personally think that Prestonsburg showed a much better performance than JC. I think that they should have gone to state. I also think that it is ridiculous that JC won by one point! There has to be something going on behind the judging booths there! There is no way that they should have taken home a trophy!

Medium- I knew it would come down to JC and P-burg. JC had a more difficult routine, but had a fall. While watching P-burg I couldn't take my eyes off the middle stunt group. The climber looked scared to death and I was afraid she was going to come down through the whole routine. <o:p></o:p>

Large- Magoffin deserved the win. Although their routine wasn't as difficult as Pike C's or Belfry's, it was solid and CLEAN. They made the stunts look easy. From what I heard Magoffin has worked extremely hard this year. They wanted it. This will be their schools first trip to state with ANY team.

Good 4 them. All 3 baskets went. Then end stunt went up and stayed for a second. Timing stops when everyone is touching the ground. Thats why it came down so quick.

I felt so sorry for those girls who went from total elation to utter disappointment in the span of 10 seconds. To me, that kind of mistake was unforgivable!

Im very glad magoffin county won . .they worked hard and deserved it .. belfry had double downs & a lot harder stunts .. and for it to be the first year competiting in an all girl division im very happy with the outcome.. we still beat pike central which says a lot since they've always been an all-girl squad

Thanks! I thought the Pc girls were awesome too! After having 5 injuries in one week and all the girls that were hurt still competed. And who would have ever known that the flyers were on new bases! and one new flyer was awesome after not stunting since her freshman year!

obviously pretty easy when Griffin Myers cheered for Pikeville if im not mistaking they were CO-Ed the only boy on the team they place and they didn't even do a basket all he did was tumble and i think bassed lol...I mean really apparently it is easy if you know how to pull strings b/c think Pikeville can win nationals but get screwed out of state apparently our state judges don't know who is the best lol...But like i said earlier Belfry did a great job as well i thought it would be between Belfry and Central all the way through even b-4 it began but oh well i dont care any more...One year not making it isnt that big of a deal we have 11 out of the 13 :-)...No other squad that comepetes against quality groups can say that besides Pikeville...

Im sorry that they chose to compete in a harder division each year it was at pikeville. My senior year we went traditional and dominated and should have won at state. That was 2002. the last time region was at pikeville. If PC wanted to go to state that year, maybe they should have gone 2 1/2 min.

PIKEVILLE DOESNT CHOOSE THE JUDGES!!! The sectional vice president chooses who judges their regional competition.

Its not like Belfry goes out and forces guys to cheer so they can compete in Co-ed just to not have to compete. All the guys who have cheered in the past do it because they want to, and because they're not afraid of getting made fun of. It's not their fault other's schools guys don't have the guts.

I didn't know that when you register for a BGR name you become a KAPOS certified judge. Everyone on here seems to think they know who should have won. It's over. Finished. The winners are winners and are going to state. All the posting in the world isn't going to change that. Can't we discuss the squad's without acting childish?

Its not like Belfry goes out and forces guys to cheer so they can compete in Co-ed just to not have to compete. All the guys who have cheered in the past do it because they want to, and because they're not afraid of getting made fun of. It's not their fault other's schools guys don't have the guts.

If any of you thought i was bashing Griffin i was not i think he is incredible one of the best cheerleaders i have ever saw...

and PvilleCheerAlum i was not taking one thing away from Pikeville so cool the jets...I was just stating the facts and it is true...If you would have read on later i said Pikeville is the only other squad which can say that they have beat good competiton to move on to state for several years now...

But i am finished with this thread i have stated what i wanted...

Good Luck to all teams at state...Maybe for once Pikevilles national placing squads wont get screwed like they do every year at state...

Great job Magoffin you girls were great. I guess at the end of the day it turned out to be a maroon letter day. PC is so upset that they lost, hey Magoffin had a great routine and it was clean. Suck it up you got beat. Magoffin Cheerleaders, you are going to state and you will make us proud.

The Sheldon Clark squad got screwed. How can you ask a team who was declared district champions to give their championship back because of a mistake by the anouncer. Those girls were crushed and the anouncer deserved every boooooo they got from the crowed including mine.

Prestonsburg I haven't forgot about you, you got it stuck to you too. Johnson Central didn't deserve any one of their wins. They were by far one of the worst squads there. I solute Sheldon Clark and Prestonsburg for the way they handled the situation. You girls were great and don't give up on your dreams because what goes around comes around.

They may not do as well as some up against teams like Dunbar, but what would you expect from a squad who is making their first state appearance? They will well represent the 15th region, though, and make people proud to say that they support them.

Magoffin cheerleaders have already made me proud with all their hard work and dedication to the sport of cheerleading. They will be competeing against the best the in state and nation, but the question I want to know is where will you be on March 18th when the Hornet Cheerleaders are at state?

If proper etiquette was used at the competition on saturday, the sheldon clark thing wouldnt have happened. The judges and sectional vice president should have announced it as it was, and approached the coach after the competition. That was a terrible thing to do to a squad in front of the entire crowd.

This would be a good opportunity for the girls who didnt make it to state to get on their basketball teams backs. Push them to win region so you can cheer the ballgame in lexington. Especially South Floyd and Shelby Valley. from what i have heard, their basketball teams have a really good shot.

I think Magoffin had the cleanest routine...and Pike Central the stunt at the end fell ADMIT IT!!! You are sore losers...that is sad...and people like you give cheerleading a bad name...we need to support our winners and wish them all the best...and to Magoffin...yes you will be up against the best in the state but remember you are one of the best in the state too!!! any one can fall...just fix your bobbles and you can have a chance..because the rest of your routine was flawless!!! Difficulty is important but when it is sloppy and unorganized...how important is it then??

yeah we can win nationals youve not ever been there and won cause your not good enough yeah we dindt win state that year because we had to go coed no they dont actually well maybe they do belfry didnt deserve to get outta region yesterday and i thought it was hilarious too bad for yall one year actually it was 2 and id say many more to come yeah because Pikeville is way better than belfry so they can say that why doesnt belfry try n go to uca nationals next year in some divison? let me know how they do if they decide to go because you have no idea what your talking about

Cheer_leader....I know that we have had our difference and got a little heated at times on here...BUT, I know that Mrs. Stone and Mrs. Wheeler both would be very disappointed with your comments on this site. You haven't said one good thing about anyone or anything. If you do cheer for Pikeville, and I assume that you do by your name, then maybe Mrs. Stone and/or Mrs. Wheeler should read this site.

So, a couple of questions...what is the deal with Belfry and Pike Central? Do you all just hate each other? Is this only in cheerleading or is there a basis in every sport?? Is it a district rivalry? Just curious...your school seem extremely competetitive with each other!

Also, to anyone from Sheldon Clark...how are your girls doing after what happened to them? I just thought they acted so mature and classy after the big "scandal".

i think it would be interesting to know the standings if each of the squads hadn't signed up in one category and decided that they wanted to switch categories just to keep from competing against pikeville maroon (johnson central- cough cough). I would like to say congrats to SVs cheer squad for actually having enough guts to compete against pikeville- when no one else would! Good Job girls

Er could have kicked some major a**but there old coach had some technical difficulties in her mind.. so she had to up and quit and crush about 15 or 16 girls lil hearts and not take them to kapos how sad.. to bad she attended anyways.. ..... poor girls o well look out for me next year is all i gotta say..
