Lawrence will start there spring practice on March 6th . I know coach G is very excited about this season they have had about 20 kids that have been working thier tails off in the weight room sence last november and they can't wait to get the pads on. I am just interested in seeing how many will come out for this . I haven't seen a sign of the two transfer's from Florida I really don't think these boys are football players but I guess time will tell. I would love to see LC dress at lest 40 some kids but I think it will be more around 30 just about like last year .I all so think that if some one will step up and make us a good QB I think LC will be right in the middle of the fight this season for them play off spots I think are disdrict will be a little stronger then it was last year .But I still think that Rockcastle's district will be the strongest. Thats what we played with last year .That not counting the freshman class.

Spring football practice may not begin until completion of both girls/boys state basketball tournaments.

I thought it could begin after basketball season had been completed for both boys and girls basketball teams of that school?? As long as Lawrence has completed the boys and girls basketball seasons and were elimintated from regional and district play then the football team can then start from what I know but I could be wrong.

They are here because thier family came here for work not because of football but sence I have written that qoute they did come out yesterday and got there pads issued to them so maybe they will be part of the 06 team and like I said time will tell if these boys are as good as they and every body around them lets on like they are .I know I for one sure hope so but I hope that the coaches doesn't turn this team into a two man show because thats what they did last year and it blew up in thier face . We all should have a good Ideal what we got after the next couple of weeks but Baseball season is here and we do have some key players that play baseball that won't be at spring practice.But we should still have some pretty good Ideal .I JUST CANT WAIT.:dump:

I think he went to Bourbon County then Paintsville and possibly entirely out of coaching right now but teaching somewhere in Johnson County.

I was incorrect with my post about the start of spring practice.  You do not have to wait until completion of the girls and boys state tournaments, just after both squads have been eliminated from post season play.  Sorry about that.

Well Batpuff we have about as many kids out that I thought we would we got 30 kids but were I was surprised at is are line men we had more of them then I taught we would .We look very very good all around we have allot of speed every were even the big guys are moving really well every body is motivated and excited even I was impressed with all the energy thats coming out of these boys and coaches .The transfer's look really good they are fast speed in a barrel you might say. They will practice again on Friday so if you get the chance come on out and take a look I think you might like what you see all but the numbers that is but we still have several key players in the baseball program I would love to see us get at least 40 some kids out before July. In my opinion we will be ALOT better then we was last year .We lose a little size but gain alot more speed I'll take speed any day. Lets go DAWGS. :clap:

They had Boone and Justin Roberts throwing the ball the kid from Florida doesn't seem to want to be a QB ???? But any way's Boone looked really good .I don't think he will be I would love to see Tim Hayes come back out and play this year but if he doesn't I am sure somebody will step up . I really don't think we have to worry about passing the ball I don't LC would pass it if we had Dan Marino on the team but who knows . :lol: :lol:

They will practice at the football field unless it's raining then it will be in the gym. But don't look for the transfers the oldest one broke his ankle yesterday and the youngest one wasn't at weight lifting today and like I said only time will tell about these young men but for me until they prove something then they are just talk they really talk a good game but I have to see it before I jump on the band wagon and Like I said before I hope they are as good as they say they are because we need the numbers to play at the 3-A level.

At least he broke it now and not in August.  Plenty of time to get ready for the season.  Just hope he didn't really destroy the ligaments, tendons and muscle around the ankle.

Well, until I see these boys in the weight room and actually out with the team I shouldnt be anything I hear till see I see it for myself. But from what I hear about this team and the boys from Florida then it should be a pretty good team by August. Just getting a little excited I guess considering there hasnt been too much to get excited about around here during football season for a while now. Just anxious I guess, what time will they practice tomorrow?

They go right after school is out .By the time they get their pads and stuff on it's somewere around 4 O'Clock.

What kind of players are coming out for this years team? I hear there are a lot of good size linemen and that the speed is there this year. Will Boone start this year??

I really like boone but I think he is a year away from being strong enough right now.  I look for maybe fitzpatrick to step into the role.

There backfield will be good this year with some power and speed.  They have Roberts back,  along with butcher,  and the freshman backfield that was just unreal last year.  You could see alot of freshman playing this year.

We always see a lot of freshmen playing, we did last year and the two years before that. Will the Florida QB be moved to the backfield and where will his brother line up when his ankle is better?

As far as I am concerned this talent of throwing the ball is all hear say I have never seen him throw a football thats not to say he can't but I would think if a kid is as good at QB as he said he was I would think he would want to be one wouldn't you? But now his brother has broken his foot but I really think he wont's to play because he is still there every day at practice but as for the other one I haven't seen him seance the second day of spring practice so let not get all are hope up on this young man until he has proven something . I think LC will still run the belly offence and passing will not be a top priority. But I might be wrong this is just my opinion. GO DAWGS!

If I find out I will pm you but it really doesn't matter if he doesn't want to be a QB then he shouldn't be one just like the kids that left if they didn't want to be here for what ever reason then they shouldn't be here . I would rather have kids that wants to be here and be apart of the Dawg family because thats the kids that will stick with you threw thick and thin and I still think these kids are very special and they will get the credit for bringing the swagger back to LC . It all starts this year mark my words . I still don't see a district championship this year but you will see signs of the Lawrence Co we are use to seeing . These kids that are still here have weathered the storm I am looking for some sunny days ahead. :party:

I hope there are some sunny days ahead.  The program has really went down hill the last couple of years.  Its not Coach G's fault he does everything he can,  its just a lack of the kids want to show some pride,  and a lot of distractions from the last 4 years.

I agree 100% we just need the ones that wont to be their .As far as getting any help for the coaches I would say as of now NO we still have the same ones as last year except we lost Alan Short . We need to be getting some not loosing them. We have some good coaches but it would be nice for coach G to just get what he wants in other words get some support from the powers above him like the school board and the Superintendent but he will work with what he's got I know he wouldn't trade what he as for any body else but I think he would like some more support. Who wouldn't  :lol:

I heard that the coaching staff was getting some help but its all rumor as of now. I would like to see the Dawgs come back with that swagger and reputation that they once had. Billy can bring that back, he just needs the players who want to play and help in certain spots. It seems that the old brother really wants to play and his ankle should be fine by the summer so I expect to see him out there. As for the other one, just wait and see I guess. LC should be fine this year and I hope to see the passion and authority on Friday nights that maybe this team and program so popular and respected.

He got a teaching job I think some were around were he went to collage . I agree I would love for him to have gotten to stay but LC would not give him a job . Besides that Billy never let him coach are QB's last year and I thought he was the only coach we had that knew any thing about the QB spot they used him and John Caudill for the freshman team .I know the freshman need's a good coaching staff but I really think they let one get away here with Alan. I would also love to see Eddie wayne come on board full time with the varsity I really think he could help out if they would use him. I know John has really been helping out all the kids in the wieght room during the off season I really hope they will give him a job or we will lose him also. Like I said before billy has to get some help from people above him in order to turn the program around.And if he doesn't get it I wouldn't blame him for not staying either he has to have some help !

I agree but Alan did help out with the QBs,  he always worked with them,  and during the game was great to have him on the sidelines.  I know they need some help this year.

I personally would like to know about his stats because if he's a good QB this would give us some tools to work with him to try and talk him into being a QB because he might just be a little scared about learning this kind of offence .We could work with what he has done and give this young man a boost of confidence and maybe the booster club would invest a little money on him and send him to a couple of QB camps this summer theirs a lot of reason I would like to know if he's the real deal or not and like we have allready said time will tell . And weather he's a QB or not I just hope he comes out this summer and becomes part of the family he did a real good job on the JV basketball team and I think he can help us on the football team some where if not at QB . :pirateshoot:

I really don't think there is need to get so defensive batpuff....I know these kids can make a contribution to the team if they choose to do so, but I don't feel the need to research them as though they are not whom they say they are as dawg family has implied several times.  Maybe I am being defensive...who knows but this is a public conversation isn't it and don't we ALL have our opinions?

They both came out BUT the youngest one decided to not play spring ball said he would come out this fall .Like my opinion or not Kermit but this just tells me the kid probably really doesn't want to play football and if he doesn't then thats fine also we just wont the boys that want to play. His older brother on the other hand has made it very clear that he wants to play football he broke his ankle and he is still at every practice learning the plays and just being part of the team. How would you see this decision????

We just want the ones who are going to be dedicated and be there with they are needed to be there. If they arent weight-lifting then they need to be doing just what the older one is, learning and going over the plays.
