South Floyd Vball Players!!

This upcoming year is going to be just as good as the last for the Lady Raiders....With the loss of some great seniors. Sabrina Reid, Candice Hall, and Tab Tackett, and much more...its gonna be hard to come back..But with the help of the JV coming up..like kasey elkins and tiff tackett, and starters coming back like katie cook, megan castle, and leslie holbrook...Were gonna be on top again!

I agree with xtreme3...the girl transferred from B.L to play for a better program and with better players and 99% of the people over there doesn't even know she's there! She started Jv last year alongside both Tiff Tackett and Kasey Elkins and she plays just as hard as they do so why isn't she getting any credit?

The seniors next year will be Leslie Holbrook, Katie Cook, Megan Castle, Tiffany Tackett, Kasey Elkins, Kimberly Howell...if there's anymore I can't think of them.

The only young player that stands out in my mind is freshman Stephanie Slone, she plays her heart out and of course you got little AShley Castle, if she keeps up the good work I look for her to be seeing some major court time as well as reconigition.

Keep in mind that out of the 6 seniors I listed for next year...only 3 of them has really had varsity experience...the other three has been kept at Jv level for three years...or in Kim's case...two years...not counting the year on JV she played for Betsy Layne.

Kim could help the team out in some ways....But we will have a pretty steady team this year...Our seniors will show alot of leadership! We have great qualities and will help the the rest of the players..All of are really experienced, some more than others...but we will still be just as good as we were... :wink:

Some ways? I guess if that's the team's opinion about her. Keep in mind that she didn't transfer from B.L her sophmore year just to be sat down by her teammates. I think she has shown alot of heart and alot of dedication to the team. She works hard each and every day...in she off-season she works day in and day out to keep her knee in the best possible shape so she can get out there on the court and do her best...you can't really do that when your knee is blown out.

DTFAN, our system does not work like that just because a kid is a senior does not mean she starts, I agree xtreme3 works hard and may she plenty of court time or might not, right now they are 6 spots open in the starting rotation and none has a granteed spot. Who knows a freshmen from last year could be working harder them some players who think they are starters and knock them down. Playing JV for 3 or 2 years is the best thing for them, Kayla Hall, JV 3 years starter and all conference as a senior, Christina berger no playing time until senior going on to play college at KCU. Conditioning is not practice so it can be done year around without waiting for b-ball to be over, baseball and softball teams are having practice right now and b-ball is not over.

So right now i do not know who is playing and who is not but to anyone who is going to play, workout and be ready becuase things are expected of you now to keep the program moving in the right direction

People who started 25 or 30 games in a row someimes find the pine to be a frindly place.
Coach's love their players but the team comes first.

yes it does effect how you play whenever you believe in yourself a little more you will see your game grow to where it needs to be. self convidenc is a big key in how a player plays and you have the potential to play at the next level but everything is tied together ( work ethic, want to, personal belief, off the court problems , self convidence). You can play but have t owork extra hard to play at the next level.

they where 29 girls sign-up to go to camp but that is a big number since everyone knows people sign-up but never come out or last about two days once conditioning starts. but i have heard that the two coachs are going to get soome foot work drills from a college coach along with a new jumping machine that will help increase your jumping and that should help you be higher at the net making it less likely to turn your waist.

I don't think this years team will do as good as last years team. They haven't got the heart as last years team did. They all aren't commited to coming in the gym and getting their self in shape.

I have to say that South Floyd's volleyball team was awsome this year. Last year when Sabrine and them seniors played I never heard anything about them, but this year I hear alot about the volleyball team and I am very proud of girls. Good Luck Next Season!

I believe SF will do good next year. They have a good program going on over there and have a couple key players coming back. Amber Tackett was good last year and will be back as a junior next.

SF is still no match for AC! AC beat them 3 times this year once at SF which was a awesome game:Clap: i never knew VB could be so intense:argue: ! and then they rolled over them easily at AC. then once again in the finals of the district tourney.

Well yea your rite ac did beat SF but if it wasnt for the ***RUDE AC FANS*** south floyd wouldnt have been so tore up in the games..i mean ok i played last year for south floyd..Alen Centrals fans spit and yelled at us while we were playin..and if thats not good enough idk wat is..i know alot of people from ac and at the games they would try to aggervate me and scream my name n say things to me while i was tryin to play...but what i do remember is when we beat ac in one match and the girls was lookin at their fans sayin be louder and scream more things!...i thought that was funny..but i think south floyd can take ac whenever and wherever they wanna play at..but we all kno they will bring their fans to cheer sf players down...but i guess thats what their good for

Good point. In the stands some people focus more on trying to make the other team play bad instead of encouraging their team. This is not a good thing.

I Have A Question For You. I Am Sure That As In Any HighSchool Sport That There Are Some Players That Only Play VolleyBall. What Have These Players Been Doing Since The Season Ended To Improve Themselves For Next Season. Have The Been Praciting Their Passing, FootWork, Jumping Ability, Quickness. These Are Skills That Can Be Practiced On Your Own. Also Conditioning. Are Any Of These Players Working On Their Condidtioning. There Are Weight Pograms That Can Be Utilized That Only Use "Dumb Bells". Are Any Of The Players Doing Any Of This. Are Any Of Them This Dedicated To Improve Themselves And Their Team. If Not, Them Maybe They Should Sit Down And Do A Little Self Examination And Realize That If They Truly Want To Be Successful, Then The Time Is Going Is Have To Be Spent Improving Themselves. Game Preparation Consists Of Two Parts....Physical Preparation...Conditioning,Skill Sets...etc...And Mental Preparation...Game Plans..Court Awareness..etc.. Both These Levels Of Preparation Must Be Obtained In Order To Be Successful. Part Of The Mental Preparation Is Learing To Deal With Your Surroundings. You Don't Play All Your Games At Home, So You Must Learn To Deal With Playing On The Other Team's Court In Front Of Hostile Crowds. Developing Mental Toughness Is Required In Dealing With The Antics Of Your Opponet's Fans. You Have To Realize As A Player That You Have NO CONTROL Over Fan Behavior, So You Have To Learn To Ignore It. If You Can't Learn This Very Important Skill, Then You Will Be No Good To Your Self Or Your Team. Athletes Have Been Dealing With This Since There Have Been Competions Between Teams. well old and whatever they play at a school of 350 both girls and boys so your athletes play and do everything. 1 cheers, 5 play basketball and 5 play softball and other still plays middle school volleyball. volleyyball in floyd county is hard to play year around when your athletes play every other sport.
But agree fans have nothing to do with what goes on during the game step up and take it or don't play.
