There's some history on Shorty's career at UK, not sure of his connection to South Floyd. Hopefully someone can fill us in on his history at SF. I do know he was of relation to former P-burg and current Pikeville College WR Nick Jamerson.

I thought he was from Wheelwright...it was Nick's grandfather

He was a great coach but even more than that a great person. He played for UK and caught the winning touchdown pass in the cotton bowl in the 60's. He was from Wheelwright where he coached. You dont find coachs or men like he was anymore. He grew up in Michigan but after college he moved to Wheelwright. Nick is also his grandson. Football runs in that family.

No offense but I'm pretty sure that he played for UK from 1947-1950 under legendary coach Paul "Bear" Bryant. At least that's what they have him as in the UK record books. See link below.

And according to the link above that I posted, the article said he attended high school in Henderson at Barrett Manuel Training High School. He scored both of UK's touchdowns in the 1950 Cotton Bowl victory over Oklahoma, 13-6. The Sooners came into the game riding a 32 game-winning streak, dating back to 1948.
