The Devils are coming off a better outing against Boyd Co with a 35-0 win. Some changes were made to the team this week for the better. Morgan has been a worthy opponent the last few years under Coach Woods. Can Russell come out on top? We'll have to wait and see.

Coach Wood is good, but Morgan is down a bit this year and sits at 0-3 with losses to Mason County, Rowan County, and Bath County.

Russell should win this one handily at home, but classy Ivan McGlone keeps the game in prespective and we see a repeat of last week.

Russell - 35
Morgan - 0

Running clock by the 3rd Quarter, I see Drew Abrams getting alot of time Friday, I also see #38 Bayes getting alot of time, I see #32 Hopper getting alot of time. I see AJ Cordle in the game in the 2nd Q, and Russell finishing with over 50 points and yes I will wager.

Russell should win this one. But Morgan Co. usually gives us fits with the quarterback "belly tuck" option, and their rip & strip fumble causing defense. In the past it usually takes a half time adjustment for us to get on track.

I would wager you on this one, but I have too many kids in sports and this doesn't leave me with wagering money. You do know there's only a couple of ways we will score over 50.

1. A close game (over a 2 touchdown lead) that we would need to score over 50.
2. If coach McGlone has all the JV in and they continue to score over 50.

Morgan has been hit hard by the injury bug this season. There is some talent there but they are not a deep team, and cannot contend with injuries to their top players. Russell should roll.

This should be an easy win for the Devils as long as they don't overlook Morgan County. Russell played an outstanding game against Boyd last week, and I look for them to roll through the rest of the season.

My prediction:

Russell- 49
Morgan County- 14

Good luck to both teams.

Agree. Also don't see Russell running up the score. Both coaches and fans have great respect for each other.

Nice job by Ethan Gullett on the defensive line against Boyd Co. last week. I hope we continue to give different players the opportunity to play on the defensive line and find out who is tough enough to play at a level that will win a state championship.

I see Russell running away with this one in the second half. Morgan will be tough through the first two quarters but toooo much Kasey and too much Tlyer Jones in this one. I predict:

Russell 49
Morgan 12

Coach Wood has done as good of a job as any coach in the state. I know Russell won't run up the score but they are deep and have many talented players waiting there turn. Those young kids are just chomping at the bit to get their 1st varsity TD. Look for Abrams, Hopper and Baily to make it to the endzone in this one.

I believe Russell's D will have fits with Morgan's style of offense in the first half, but I just think there's too much Russell in the second half for the cougars, I think Morgan may not even score until the subs start coming into the ballgame and is too far out of reach. REMEMBER we are DEFENDING THE "R".

I believe the answer is 23 consecutive victories for the Red Devils Varsity squad at Henry R Evans Stadium.

When was their last home loss you ask? 2nd game of the 2003 season losing to Ashland 33-14. BTW, my senior season at Ashland.

Yes we "R". And if anyone gets the opportunity, please comment on how good the "R" looks to a school board member, administration staff or A.D. I don't think anybody would have liked the looks of the first "R" that was painted without maroon paint and thanks to a couple of the boosters who took their case straight to the top and had it changed. The problem with the maroon paint is it is not environmentally friendly and it kills the grass. The repainting of the "R" resulted in not having enough time to paint Ivan McGlone Field in one of the end zones. But the big billboard was on that end of the field so I don't think anyone had a problem figuring out who's field it is now, and has been for the last 31 years.

Kudos go out to all that were involved in getting the stadium ready for the first home game. The facility is something to be proud of. Also if anyone gets the opportunity please thank Mr. Louie Gabbard for his volunteer work laying out the "R" and redoing the championship signs to include the 2005 championship. Most people involved with Russell Football know Louie, but in case you don't, just look for a big guy carrying a big "R" on Friday nights. Louie's price for all of his hard work was the same as always; tell the boys good luck Friday night.................

OKAY.........Devil68, took me awhile but Dng glad to see you made it...... I must have been stupid just looking at the Devil68.... Yes the R looked great,The field looked great, The painted endzones was a one of a life time thing Iguess.
You know you hear people outside Russell saying that the school is rich and the football program is well taken care of by the school, blah,blah,blah........
People do not realize that it is not the school but the Boosters, the parents and the ALUMNI of Russell who make it look the way it does.
I know that Sam Smith puts alot of time in, his oldest graduated last year Tim SMith, Micah Williams puts alot of time in, His boy graduated last year too. Louie Gabbard is still donating time and presents to the game, his boy graduated in 2003 played 2002.
AND all the current parents and boosters that make the place look like it does.
Keep up the good work parents and fans and boosters.

I'll have to agree with that statement. I am one of the people he mentioned. The boosters were asked for everything. The coaches asked for a stat program last year. So as the booster club we voted on it and approved it. About a week later the coaches came back and asked for a new laptop to run it on.:)

The boosters do an excellent job. They feed the boys every Thursday night. They tailgate for them on Friday nights. Trust me I hauled their stuff for the last 2 years. They sponsor a scholorship. They do field decoration and maintenance. If you like the looks of the stadium you can thank the boosters for it.

Sorry to derail the whole thread.

Russell wins handily!
