I have to think Belfry wins this one, but in a match like this it's always a toss up.

I think it's way to early to look that far ahead. They both may have it easy tonight. But anything can happen. Heaven forbid they have any injuries tonight. But that could make a big difference in next weeks contest if a star player is hurt. Let's all hope they make it through tonight safe and injury free. Then we can talk about next week.

IMO its going to come down to turnovers and who has the least which is definately going to ring true in this game because of both teams nack of fumbling the football this year. Whichever team gets that straightened out first will win in a close, low scoring game. My prediction:

I think it will be just the opposite, PP68. I think both offenses are hitting their stride and will put up some points. Belfry seems to be the stronger of the two programs right now, and the new QB is settling in from all reports. Pikeville is still missing Mayo, but their sophomore running back is a beast.

I say Belfry wins this one 34-20.

last year the game was a whole lot closer than what the score showed...pikeville if im not mistaken was actually winning the game at the half like 7-6, but 7 total turnovers off fumbled snaps, a couple bad ints, and a botched snap over the punters head (which lead directly to belfrys first score from pikevilles one yard line) cost the panthers in the long run...pikeville moved the ball all day on belfry from 20 to 20 but just couldnt seal the deal...however with the loss of mayo this is another game that could end up being one that goes to the very end.

But they didn't have their QB and RB in the game because of injuries caused by the Pikeville Defense.
Not trying to stir it up but I'm not sure anyone knows truly how good Belfry or Pikeville are yet.
I believe this will be a great game.

Sorry, I disagree on both points.
1) Belfry's "passing game" has "improved" against teams that, as we all know, frankly arent that good. I will be surprised if they pass it 5 times on Pikeville (unless they are down late).

2) Henry Clay's running game was practically non existant against Pikeville, so having their starting RB for the last 5 minutes of the game wouldnt have made any difference. Also, I dont even think the QB went out with an injury, he was put in (I THINK) in order to provide a better running threat from QB.


Having said this, I DONT think that the Pirates will be able to sustain a long drive on Pikeville's D. If they can eliminate the BIG PLAYS then they win no problem...If NOT...it will be a long night.

And that my friends is definate bulletin board material. A word of wisdom my friend, never doubt Belfry's ability to run on a good 7 man front. Most of the time they are capable of running on a team's 10 man front. I have a feeling there may be some crow eating after this game is over. It may be Belfry fans or it might be Pikeville's but as it stands today these teams are too evenly matched to make a reliable pick.

Weak schedule??? Yea Henry Clay and East Jessamine the first 2 games is a real weak schedule. And if I'm not mistaken Pikeville shut Henry Clay down through halftime. Thats an accomplishment on its own beings that they went to the 4A state semis last year. All I'm saying is that Belfry will have trouble running on Pikeville. This is the real Pike Co. His hunch is based on bias, is my guess..The style of O Belfry runs (unless they've changed to a spread "air attack" since last year?) I BELIEVE is not MEANT to score that many points. Its meant for LONG drives and grinding the clock out. I'de say more than likely Belfry wins the Time of Possession this week....Dont see them scoring over 3 TD's, even if Pikeville's D doesnt show up... (based on what i know about the offense....)

You need to get your facts straight. Belfry scored first, after a bad punt snap gave them the ball at the 2 yard line. Pikeville takes the next drive down to the one yard line where QB fumbles. Pikeville D holds, returns punt for a touchdown for a 7-6 Pikeville lead. Stays this way until two minutes left in the second Quarter when Belfry scores and goes into halftime up 14-7. Belfry did wear them out in the fourth quarter, but your facts as stated above not a bit correct, I have watched the film at least 10 times over the last three weeks.

I feel Belfry will win this game.. 28-13, Dustin May will be the difference. Belfry has a very good run defense, ask Vicars from NCC, someone the Panthers couldn't stop last year. I will eat crow all week if Belfry can't run on Pikeville, thats nonsense.

This is 06 and it will be a dandy between the 2 football programs that put eastern KY football on the map.

Well put Fox. Since the early 90's other than 94, 99 and 2000, Pikeville has not been able match the NKY schools up front.

In my opinion a State powerhouse is a team that goes year in and year out with a winning record against the best opponents. A team that is state champ quality every year, and a team that can play with anyone else. The past couple years, belfry has shown signs of becoming a team like that.. And pikeville is starting to get back to where they were. But i don't think that a couple good seasons is enough to put someone in a powerhouse category. I think a team that can call themselves a true powerhouse is a team that has earned it by becoming one. That's just my opinion though..

^in a sense i guess you could, but thanx to a fairly weak district our opinions would differ. Belfry really shows how good they are usually against whoever they play in the PCB, and Ironton. And in the past couple years, they have showed their toughness with their playoff runs beating some excellent teams, and losing last year to an excellent Russel team. Like I said though Belfry is well on their way to becoming a Powerhouse football team.. If they keep up like they've been doing then in a couple years even I will call them a state powerhouse. but i just can't do it yet.. If they could get one of the big louisville teams to schedule them for a game, and beat them or even play with them, then it would ease my mind..

But everyone is different and i'm not saying i'm correct in this, but it's how i feel about the situation. And don't get me wrong Pikeville, and Belfry are both really good teams, i'm just hard to please..
