Pikeville looked really good in the first half. Lawrence Co looked like they had jitters. A couple small injuries, (hurt sprained ankles re injured) at the end of the first half made the second half a little sloppy for some Pikeville players. All in all there was some mental mistakes on both ends. But both teams looked good for pre season games.
Any stats on Pikeville? Who played well? Not just points I'm interested in hearing about the D in this early game.

Do you know why Thompson was out. He would have been at the point if I am not mistaken.

After watching this game, I can honestly say that Pikeville has no shot at winning the region and a small shot at their own district.
As for Lawrence County, it's going to be a long year from what I could tell.

You can say that about a team that wasnt even supposed to win that had two potential starters out, another one at about 70% and the majority of the team only having 9 practices? If that is the case, what is Lawrence Co. chances of winning their district or region? Wasnt it last season at the start of the year that if someone had said Pikeville would win their district they would have been commited for a few years? How did their season go, lost by 3 points to the 15th region champions. Pikeville is never a start of the season contender. They play better at the end of the season than they do at the start. But that is ok. I hope everyone thinks the same thing in every game Pikeville plays.

Now personally i dont really like lawrence county. But you can say pikeville lost to the regional champs by three but if you can remember lawrence beat the regional champs by a few.

Lawrence County beat Johnson Central by 5 according to the KHSAA website. But that game was played at Lawrence County whereas Pikeville lost to them by 3 on a neutral court. Besides, isnt the regular season just practice for tourney time? Just the same as now, these scrimmages are to get ready for the regular season. Preseason scrimmages are to let the coaches get a feel for their players before the season starts. The important thing about this game isnt who won. The important part of this game was the coaches seen what needs worked on in practice before the first game.

Will Thompson be the leading scorer on Lawrence? Just wondering because he did put up some pretty good numbers last season didn't he?
