Three North Laurel High School coaches have resigned and four players are suspended after an alleged incident at a hotel during an out of town trip.

It's a disturbing trend that's catching national attention, high school teens tormenting one another, recording it on tape, and posting it on the internet. Four students at North Laurel High School were suspended this week for allegedly doing just that while at a basketball tournament in Northern Kentucky. Players on the North Laurel basketball team allegedly locked one of their teammates out of a hotel room, took inappropriate pictures, and put them on the internet.

"At this time three assistant coaches at North Laurel have resigned," said North Laurel Principal James Durgam.

Durham says the four students who were suspended could be kicked out of school altogether, which leaves the basketball team hurting.

"That's part of the coaching thing. You know there's a chance that something can come up," said Coach Jim Conway.

The Laurel County school board is still investigating what happened and school officials aren't saying whether or not alcohol was a factor. In the meantime, Coach Conway says the season will continue.

"North Laurel basketball is going to be there with you or without you. So we just have to overcome that and do the best we can," Conway said.

Conway says it will be a challenge, but nothing they can't handle as a team.

A Laurel County School Board meeting is scheduled this Monday. One topic on the agenda will be discussing the possible expulsion of the four boys who have been suspended.

the shame of it all is that it happen so often, this is not the first school from the mountains that has made the news for doing just such stupid stuff.

Not condoning this incident as it seems a little more serious, but kids and teammates have been pranking one another since well back to the 40's and 50's or before. What else is new. I've heard my grandfather and father tell stories that are not much better than this. They just didn't have the internet back then. That is the worse part of this incident b/c putting inappropriate photos on the internet is taking it a little too far. I don't think the kids should do these things, but it is hardly anything new. If anything, it used to be worse. They just didn't have modern technology back in the old days. But the coaches have to answer for where they were when this took place unless it was something that just occurred spontaneously and lasted a minute or something. There is only so much a coach can do as well. You just have to administer appropriate discipline and move on. Making a big deal out of it is the worse thing you can do. But with the internet posting, then more severe punishment may need to be administered. That is up to the parties and the school though.
