Dawgrunner take a drive down to the weightroom and see how many kids are lifting.I would like to think 35 or 40 are lifting their hearts out.On Boone if there is any doubt about his health then go with Chandler Sheppard.Boone is a great kid but if he still has injuries he would have to come in later at a different position.Im not bothered at all with what we lost.Some good kids but the senior class never had a winning record.We need to get back to Billy Ball.We have a long way to go but good young kids coming up.

Who overlooked you last season? You carry a large chip on your shoulder. They Know Me is entitled to his opinion just as you are. I as well dont agree with it but no one is overlooking you. Many schools still circle that game on there schedule due to the tradition of LC football.

I look for LC to bounce back this year. LC had alot of young talent but the small #'s is what hurt LC more than anything. LC was competitive in every district game this year until early in the 3rd quarter expect for the game with JC. LC being the quality program it is choose to go out and put together a tough schedule that will challenge and prepare this team for a run at a district title and playoff game. I look for LC to finish around the 5-5, 6-4 mark with a playoff game or two.

SC will be pretty good next year. Not saying Lawrence can't beat us, because it is hard to play at Lawrence, but we will be pretty solid. I would call the game a toss up or a swing game more so than a definte W in either direction.
Also shouldn't overlook the Blackcats of Prestonsburg. They have some quality youth coming back and will only get better with time IMO.

It is mandatory at prestonsburg..The football players that don't play basketball are required to wrestle, and those who choose not to wrestle, still are required to attend all wrestling practices.

I wouldn't count the dawgs out so easily. They have good numbers every year and from what I hear they have a lot of kids(45 plus) already in the weight room. Plus a new Offensive genuis from Lex Cath who is a Lawrence Co alum. They should be competetive in their District.

i think it will but they wont make a big impact on the team for a few years dials and kelly will lead the team again this year.

Sounds good to me. I need to run by the football field and see how many boys are in there lifting and busting their tail already. Batpuff, LC going to be doing any camps this year and where will they practice at during the spring?

I wish there WAS SOME NEWS.Im disappointed at the low number of boys lifting.Expections are high but workout numbers are a disappointment.I hope baseball doesnt take away too many of our players.Guys I dont think you all realize how much work needs to get done to get back to the level Lawrence County football had reached.The last season where we played at times to that level was the 7-3 team led by James storts,Kyle Barnett,Short.That was a class alot of us believed had a chance at winning the state.That team got stunned by an early loss to Belfry, but of course Belfry went on to win the 2a state championship that year.The year we lost in the semi-final to Bourbon County, by a Jason Michael led team,I still believe we had the best team in the state.The team led by Nick Meadows had the biggest win in the history of the school over undefeated Breathith county and the biggest crowd to ever watch a sporting event in the county.The Gerad Parker led team ran into a buzz saw in Highlands.We scored 34 or 35 but could not stop them as they rolled up 70 points against us and that was in some peoples eyes the greatest team In LCHS history.I thought it was amazing that Parker led the state in receiving and we threw about 1 pass every ten plays but we also had Lawrence countys best back ever,,Michael west.Our offensive line on that team was far superior to our o-line the last four seasons for sure.Our linebacker play needs to improve drastically.Cody roberts is a good player to led a linebacker core.Defensive tackles need to make more plays for negative yardage.We have the players coming up that could take us to that level again but if they dont totally dedicate themselves to the football program we will stay just an average team.Back to the basics,,smash mouth football with a team that leans on its defense when things get tough!!I think we have some exciting football laying ahead myself but its not a guarantee.

In the times I went by the weight room there were around twenty.Now that might just be the days I checked them.Low numbers on snow days too and that is understandable but we have to be there in big numbers every day.Are there kids who need rides?We need to be willing to give rides to kids who live way out in the county.I myself get off of work at 5 and would love to give any kid or kids rides to their homes.For lifting to make a difference they need to be lifting no later than the middle of March and that is really late.They need to get our bigger kids running a whole lot more than we have been too.

The total number of kids that have came out to play football over the last couple of years are just down. Its from the Youth League all the way up to the High School. Kids these days are more worried bout there video games then getting out and doing anything that they have to put an effort into it. Even if we only have a total number of 40 kids on team that is what we have to win with and we will have to get the most out of them. So no matter how many we have lets just support the ones that are coming out and giving it there all. Go DAWGS !!!!!

From what I was told it does start Monday and it's mostly going to be
conditioning and play learning . They might not even have any contact but if I know billy I'm sure they will mix it up some I know the boys is wanting to they got 15 days to get in 10 days of practice and the weather is suppose to be pretty nice next week . The 07 season is here lets get behind this team and make it like the days of old GO DAWGS>

Not havong contact in the spring is okay with my way of seeing things.I would hate to lose someone to a knee or something.What we do from December till July far far outweighs spring ball.LC went for 100 years without spring practice so its not something that has helped us in the past.But to get to know the offense and the conditioning its got to help so spring practice has to be a plus.

The Eastern KY tournament Thursday will now be at Greenup instead of Russell. They have all started at 6:00. LC will have about 4 or 5 boys in Louisville playing baseball. Cyrus, Shepard, Pack, Mills...

Lawrence Co won the Eastern KY tourny at Greenup. There were a lot of schools there:
Russell, Johnson Central, Ashland, Greenup Co, Fairview, East + West Carter, Fairview, Lewis Co.
They won without 4 of there top players that were in Louisville at a baseball tourny (Cyrus, Pack, Mills and Shepard).
Great INTENSE toruny with a lot of clutch plays.

it takes more than just those 4 players there were other top players that were there giving thier all, fitzpatrick,west,cantrell,frazier,witt,thomas,wall er.cantrell,frazier,waller firzpatrick looked very good on short passes and long passes.

No doubt about it the kids there played their hearts out and made some huge plays. I was just saying that there is a lot of depth and talent at the skill positions. I love the attitude and confidence our kids are playing with right now!

I look for good things from LC this year but will wait and save my opinion after I have seen some full-contact scrimmages.

Just ask anyone that plays QB or RB that " Is it easier to run when there are no linemen coming at you?" The obvious answer is YES. With teams blitzing, dropping linemen into coverage and all that noise. I will see what I need to see from this team once they get going into full-contact scrimmages and not against each other.

That's obvious but on the flip side it's also easier to throw when teams aren't playing 2 deep man and sprinting their middle linebacker down the middle of the field. Teams also don't have to worry about the run in these games which makes coverage even tougher. I totally agree with what you are saying but there are also some things that are tougher.
Scrimmages aren't really a total gage either as teams are still working on stuff but you do get a little better sense of how guys play in traffic.

I would love to see a season like this and I think thiers a chance but I tell ya The Breathitt game will be one of the hardest games to win this season .They had a very young team last year and they was pretty good they started mostly sophmores and Juniors last year I look for Breathitt to be in the top 3 in AAA this season . But it would be a great win for the Dawgs if they can get this one. Go Dawgs

This is just a guess but I think it had something to do with grades and the upcoming school year.

The ONE big thing that this team needs and if they can get it then they wil be just fine is that everyone on the line and anyone that plays needs HEART!!!!!!!!!!! If this team can find the HEART to compete everyday in practice and on Friday inghts then look out. The talent is there and if this season becomes unsuccessful I will be putting most of the blame not on the coaches, but the team and individuals lack of it.

I am pretty sure they have one this Saturday with Raceland, Fairview and Fleming County coming. I know these teams are scrimmaging and I am 99.99% sure it is at Lawrence.

I heard today that Fairview will not be there. I still look for this to be a good scrimmage, all these teams are pretty competitive.
