Biggest Gym???

What is the biggest High School Gym in Kentucky? in Eastern Kentucky it has to be KCC's Morton Combs Athletic Complex with a MAX of 5,000 not counting standing room. is there any bigger?

It probably is the biggest in Eastern Kentucky, but not close as far as statewide goes. I know Mason County Fieldhouse holds 6,200

The largest in Kentucky is Mason County with their 6200.

Using a more strict criteria of Eastern Kentucky:
Knott County Central - 5000
Boyd County - 5000
Greenup County - 5000

I dont know the exact number of capacity but i think if u let the top bleachers down at Pike Central's it'll hold quite a few. I'm not quite sure is theres top bleachers on both sides or not. I also think Sheman Neace was a big gym in capacity size. Clay County has a nice big gym, I loved it when we played there in high school. Those are my opinions but I'm sure there's bigger gyms around here.

Knott Co's gym sure doesn't look like it would hold 5,000 people.

I believe that many of the gyms are not accurate when it is stated they have thousands of seats. I do not think that KCC has that capacity and Clay County either. What size seat do they compare the seats with? KCC does have one of the bigger gyms however 5,000 is alot of people in their seats. South Floyd has 2200 but there is no way.

Yeah, Mason Co's gym is really special. When you walk in you can just sense the tradition, it's like walking into Assembly Hall. The school could sure use some updated restrooms though :)

I do agree that Knott Central has one of the biggest facilities and proabily the biggest in EKY. Sout Floyd has a nice facility also.

If Paintsville's gym holds 2,000, then Knott Central holds 15,000.
On the KHSAA website they have Magoffin;s gym at 2,000, I think it's capacity is 3,000.

That's by todays fire marshall standings. Back in the day (oh no hear I go again) they packed as many as could be put in the P'burg fieldhouse and it went over 5,000. But no it wouldnt have been very safe had a fire broke out.

Belfry holds more that 2400 people, when it was built it was suppose to be one of the biggest in the region... I may be wrong but im pretty sure they said it would seat 5000 people...

Boyd Co., Greenup Co., KCC, Perry Co. Central, Prestonsburg, Allen Central, Johnson Central. Personally, I think that Boyd Co. and KCC are the largest that accomodate people best.

Belfry holds more that 2400 people, when it was built it was suppose to be one of the biggest in the region... I may be wrong but im pretty sure they said it would seat 5000 people...
Yeah Belfry's gym was big and nice, I agree it holds way more than 2400, maybe they were referring to the old gym.

KHSAA website has Phelps gym capacity at 2200.... I may be wrong but I believe it holds more than that.... ????

I think Belfry's gym will hold more than what it says and East Ridge wasn't mention at all here. I didn't check the site but it's basically the exact same layout as Belfry has. Looks 99% identical so I'm guessing it will hold around the same number of people as well.

Well According To the Khsaa website Belfry's gym has a capacity of 2400, and East Ridge has a capacity of 2300.
