How Will The Cougars Do in 07.....Who Do They Return and Who Did They Lose?....Whats Their Schedule??

They should be pretty good, I dont know their whole schedule between we have them away first game of the season. They return a lot of good players and one really good halfback, Brock(dunno his last name) but Ive heard he is really strong and should do his damage. LCC will be alright this season, theyve been on a steady uphill climb since the school started, 1st season was like 3-7, last year was like 6-4 right??? So I look for them to be pretty good in 07'.......good luck-looking forward to opening kickoff.

Letcher Central loses some good offensive line players along with some "headhunter" linebackers! Some of the defensive secondary, nothing really lost on offense this year though! They should be alright next year! Dakota Brock is a young quarterback/ halfback with Much potential. He is very strong! Charlie Banks is a very good quarterback!

I think LCC is 2 years away from being a very good football team. From talking to some of the coaches, LCC will have a hard time next season. Alot of there talent is in the freshman and sophomore class. But it is always untelling how good teams will be. I know they are working HARD in the weightroom! Best of Luck Cougars!

Brock will be a senior, not very young at all.
They were 4-6, same as the first year. I am not so sure the program IS growing. I have also heard complaints of coaching inexperience, and that some coaches may not be coming back. As politically based as it is here, I think it will be a hard job to get this program where it wants to be.

I hear from several friends that live in Letcher Co. that associate head coach VanHoose has been fired. Also that the 07 schedule is weak except for Hazard and Clay County. They are by far in the weakest 5-A district in the KHSAA, and should have a winning season, and all that is by design. They can't have Hillard Howard going out with 3 straight losing seasons and turn things over to his son Ben Howard in 08.I also don't expect Charlie Banks to play football in 07, because of his basketball injury this year.

Well you don't know much about LCC. The fact is Charlie isn't even going to try to play basketball anymore this year so he can fully recover for football. Yes Coach Vanhoose will not be hired back. I think Whitley County can count as a hard game, Leslie County, and North Laurel.

2006
Leslie 6-6 & they lost their best this year
Whitley 2-8
North Laurel 3-7
Not exactly powerhouses as I see it. Aren't they also playing 1A Hazard as well as East ridge coming off a 2-8 season I believe.

In fact he is on 16 years old! That is what I was referring to!!!
Dakota rushed for 499 yards and had 11 rushing TD's he also had 1736 yards passing for 15 TD's with 13 interceptions, 226 attempts and 120 completions.
You cant tell me that its coaching inexperience, that is just ridiculous!!!!
How could you say that Coach Howard is inexpeienced???
You have to give them some time to get settled in.

I agree I don't know alot about LCC, but I know Banks won't be back to basketball this year, but I would bet Raymond Justice doesn't want him to play football and I'd say his Dad doesn't want him too either. This I do know for sure
Hazard... will be pretty good again
Leslie... 6-6, but lost alot
Whitley... 2-8
North Laurel...3-7
Perry Cent...1-9
Bourbon Co.... 0-10
Clay Co... will be good again
East Ridge....2-8
Also on the KHSAA website has LCC beating Haysi, VA when it was actually Haysi winning over LCC so their record should be 4-6 not 5-5. I do know however Hillard Howard is one of the best HS football coaches KY has ever had and a great guy as well I'd love to see him do well @ Letcher Central. I was just saying earlier their schedule is better for them than the last 2 years without Bell, Rock, Mad. Southern on it. Not picking on LCC at all, I'm an Mountain boy and would love to see them do well.

The Jumbotron costed somewhere around $150,000 (it was paid for by Pine Mountain Hardwoord Lumber Co.) As for the camera, we have 4 Canon GL-2 cameras. The angles are (On top the press box = 1 camera on the far left of, and one camera on the far right, On the field, there is 1 camera which follows the ball up and down the field, connect by a snake to the computers inside the press box. The software used is Lumaware by LED Solution). The press box is rigged with technology ports which link audio/ video to the computers.

i played football for the cougars in 2005 -= thier first yr. of establishment-= and we done good-= for a first yr. team.i think the cougars will become eventually a 7-3 team-=it just takes some time to build a team.
also coach vanhoose was not fired-=he retired -=not fired- and i like him as a coach-= and it was a mistake made by the cougars but hey, we all learn form our mistakes. and the rumor about coach howard leaving the school after 3 seasons may be true-= but it is not official -=and also
aout the jumbotron-= i sat out these yr, of football and explored new opitions which included the working with the tron-= our stlp coordinators sit that up-= and picks the angle =and i did at one time do the sideline-= it was fun- =but then i moved up into the press box-= so. i wish the cougars good luck in thier 2007 season- =and we're state-bound.

He was released due to "budget problems" which is bs. Paco, you don't have a clue about it. If he retired, then what is the "mistake" that was made? You do have a great point about Big H turning it over to little h though. I agree 100%

Lelsie doesn't lose as much as you think. They lose more on the lines of leadership than anything. There were very capable players playing behind the Big 3 over there. Leslie was also in every game last year. The only game where they didn't show up was the North Laurel game. If the Middlesboro game wasn't taken from them, I believe they would have given Belfry all they wanted at Belfry. Just don't sleep on them, that's all.

Charlie Banks WILL be playing football ( with his father's blessing). He has his cast off and is doing rehab. Coming along VERY well. The doctor has told him the small break is completely healed He is attending at least 2 q/back camps this summer. He has really increased his upper body strenght and he has now grown to a legitamate 6'3". He could have played basketball in the district but he and his family decided that he should rehab completely and not push it. He will be ready for spring practice. As far as his dad not wanting him to play---you don't know what you're talking about. His dad has only high hopes for Charlie in football and in basketball. He is a special kid --he never has a negative word to say about anything. I wish the best for him.

Ok first of all I have high expectations for the cougars next year. These boys have been working hard all offseason with about 40 some kids in the weight room everyday after school. I know this cause im there with them everyday and they are on a great program and working hard and should see alot of inprovement from last year. As far as a record I think its possable for them to go 10-0 not saying they are going to just saying its possable. I dont expect anything less than 8-2 because of their schedule. I'm a former player who knows what these guys are capable of, so I'm pretty sure this is an accurate guess.

I dont know any of the O or D line personally but "big" is out of the question. Thats gonna be the biggest problem for Letcher Co. this season. With the lack of size and experience at OL their offensive is going to studder horribly. In my opinion, they should leave a more mobile Brock at the QB position to try and establish some sort of offensive flow. With Banks in the backfield they don't have a shot. He will be sacked 35+ times this season.
Windsprint
03-27-2007, 09:39 AM
That is a really intelligent response Hafner-fan. a two guard on the basketball team not being mobile enough to play q/b on the football team. Your ignorance is second only to your stupidity. I have watched a couple of LCC's practices and the combination of Brock as a running back/reciever and Banks at the q/b is a lethal one. As far as " NO size" on the off.line------you must be seeing a different team than I. The kid called "Rooster" must be about 6'2" and 270. Couch is about 6'0" 310. You are in for a rude awakening my friend---just wait and see.
Hafner_Fan
03-27-2007, 12:26 PM
Does rude awakening still add up to 3-7! Oh wait, maybe 4-6 this time around again. The comment on the QB situation has a simple history. Banks doesn't look to scramble......hardly ever. yeah they kid has good speed but he doesn't choose to use it. Banks is more suited to sit back and pick people off down field than try to break the pocket.
In my opinion, Brock is the best choice but that's just me.
It's still going to take at least 2-3 more seasons before this team can get it's feet underneatht them.
Windsprint
03-27-2007, 01:57 PM
Either one can get the job done. To me --it simply gives them another dimension-----Brock if the opposing team is vulnerable to the run------------Banks if the opposing team is vulnerable to the pass. Both kids on the field at the same time will make any team show respect. The halfback option pass comes into play. Ponder this----Banks pitches to Brock going off the left side and Brock draws the defense to him---then stops and throws downfield to Banks who is wide open------Might work and will definitely be exciting
Hafner_Fan
03-27-2007, 04:51 PM
you got a point there. I think they need to look at the Fisher kid as a possible tailback too. The kid is strong as any other member on the team for his size.

Brock, Fisher and a few others have finally got everyone dedicated to the team. As of next year i belive we will go 7-3. Im not sure bout all our oppents me being a freshman. But i do know that we have a hard game out of the gates. But i look forward to starting defense an giving it everything. As for our offense im not really include seeing as how we have 6 or more senior backs that are talented. As for the line they are looking really well alot stronger and alot smarter.

LCC will do good next year but in 08 and 09 they will be great. next year most of the good players are juniors and sophomores but they will still help.

IMO Hazard is probably a little further along with the football talent they have right now, but the Howards will have the cougars ready to play and ready to win. Better stay on your toes Bulldogs.

As far as the Hazard game, I think it will be one heck of a game! :yikes: Both teams have really been working hard in the weight room and on the field. I expect to see some good ole' ball playing.
As far as the record prediction for LCC in 07-08, I'm going to go with my gut instinct and say 6-4.
Go Cougars..... Make us proud!

The line has worked very hard during the off season, they have several SR's Adams, Chandler, Begley, and several JR's Kincer, Adams, and Knight who I look to have a great season.
