yeah true.. i thought both teams had good ball movement. Pburg was shooting the 3 great in the 1st half then Pville gave a little bit more pressure in the back court and on the 3 line and they got to frustrated and started missing. Good game to both teams.

Slone is for real, he moves great without the ball, and plays hard nose D. Pville, Belfry, or Valley, are my favs to win the whole thing.
Just wondering did anyone see the fight in the JV game. Cant believe no one got tossed. I saw the Varsity refs tell them to throw them out. sammy walked over to the one ref and told him to throw them out. I saw about 4 or 5 punches thrown. Was I the only one who saw this.

Pburg played well with Paintsville in the first half. They just couldn't get anything going in the 2nd, though. Terrible passing and poor defense didn't help anything.

One of the Paintsville kids was running full steam to go foul a kid, he bumped him on the foul. The P-Burg kid fell down, jumped up and threw a punch, or shoved, I couldn't tell which one, at the Paintsvill kid, and like any kid would do, the Pville kid was ready to throw one back. The refs and the teammates broke up the "fight" before anything else happened.

I pretty much agree with your analogy. Defense was sloppy by the Blackcats, too many wide open shots by VF and Landon.

I did see one thing tonight, Trevor Patton is a great shotblocker. If he could improve his offensive skills, he'd be a tough guy to stop.

Pupaw, it was a little more that a "bump". I would call it a tackle. It was pretty hard.

He didnt bump him. The p-burg player was bringing the ball back up top to run the clock and end the game and the kid from paintsville came behind(blind sided) and pushed him runnin full speed in the back for no reason so the boy from P-burg got up and they started pushing each other around and then it was broken up.

Trevor had a bad offensive game tonight. He appeared to be tired. His dad told me he was having a little asthma and was using an inhaler. He has been playing well and scoring quite a bit. I think he had like 22 against SF and 16 against AC with double figure rebounds in both games.

Congrats P-burg on a hard effort. P-burg led the first quarter and led most of the half and were up and 9 at one time in the 2nd quarter before falling down by 4 points at halftime. It was a close game till the 4th then P-burg just couldnt get the shots to fall and there was also about 5 bad calls in a row that let Paintsville get the bigger lead and that was it. The refs wouldnt call a foul on Paintsville in the 2nd half. But other than that this one could have easliy went to P-burg. Congrats Paintsville.

Very competitive game from both teams. Landon started clicking in the 2nd quarter and no one could stop him. Van Ferguson also did real well. Bobby had some good spurts in the game. I really think Prestonsburg proved they where a good team, and I'm sure Paintsville players walked away surprised with how good Prestonsburg was. Prestonsburg had too many turnovers in this one, and thats what killed them tonight. Also on a side note, Micheal Burchett had 25pts in the JV game, which Pburg won. Congrats Tigers!

Congrats Tigers on the win. Slone and Ferguson played a great game. I thought the 1st half showed how well the Cats could play and the 2nd showed how bad they got out coached. Stephens had an awesome game yet he sat the bench way to much early in the 2nd half. Hughes and Hall were hot in the 1st half but the Cats chose to go away from what worked in the 1st half the High Low post drive and kick to outside if inside wasn't there. Patton played well but the pace of the game did effect him health wise. I though Burchett played a great JV game yet got no minutes in the varsity game. Cut down the turnovers and continue to play hard Cats you are the team to beat in the 58th. Good luck to the Tigers you are a team to beat for the regional crown.
As for the JV incident, it happened right in front of me and while the Pburg player was standing there running the clock out the Painstville kid came running and shoved him in the middle of the back with both hands putting him on the floor. The Pburg kid came up off the floor and shoved the Painstville kid, no fist were thrown. I think there should have been an intentional foul on Paintsville and a T on the Pburg player reaction. Other than that a great JV game.

You evidently dont know much about the game. Patton did not have a good game tonight, you are judging him on one game. It like me saying that Bundy is terrible because he only scored 7. Patton was not required to do alot of scoring tonight with the game that Stephens and Martin had. You judge a player on a season, not one game. Go to KHSAA and see that he is shooting over 50% from the field, leading in rebounds, blocked shots.

Congrats to the Tigers!! Nice to see them play hard for at least 3 1/2 quarters anyway. They are getting there. I love the Landon and Van combo when they are both on. But Bundy, Grimm and Vanhoose did what they had to as well. AND IT WAS GREAT TO SEE BMR getting into the game!!!! I think that the Tigers respond well to that type of BMR, not the BMR that sits on the bench. IMO Coach Runyon AND the Tiger players both stepped it up in this game.
As for P-burg, they shot the lights out the first quarter, and played hard until about the first part of the fourth quarter. Definately not the same P-burg team that I seen in the Tiger Hoops Tourney. They have really improved and should definately make it to Region. If they play the way they did tonight, they could easily win their District.

As a fan of Paintsville, I have to say. We're not very good right now. I don't care if Prestonsburg has improved or not they are still the same team that SV almost beat by 100 if they wanted to earlier this season.
Either these guys get some heart or they are going nowhere in the post season.

There was no point in the game where Landon was being guarded by Patton except when Landon got an offensive board and tried putting it back up and Patton blocked it. Btw I saw the stat sheet, Patton was 2/3 from the field, with 8 rebounds and 7 blocks. If he could catch the ball he might score a little more.

If any of you watched the game, the Cats played zone the entire 1st half and any one that knows bball knows that zone D makes it hard for block out assignments and allows most teams get more rebounds. In the second half the Cats went more man and the D focused more on stopping Slone and he then got the ball to other players in better scoring positions thus he scored less in the second. As a Blackcat fan, I am not sure what some of you Tiger fans want out of this team. I thought the Tigers played well for most of the game, they hit big shots in key moments, played great help D and better D overall than I have seen them play in several games that I have watch them this year. They took the challenge of the bigger Cats interior and stepped up and played pretty good on the boards considering the size difference. They came out of the locked room in the 3rd and improved on a pretty good 1st half. These are kids and do make mistakes and don't always play their best but to question their heart is funny. I thought both teams showed a real passion to want to win this game just the Tigers were the better team this night.
As for Patton, for his experience level he is a pretty good player overall. This is his 1st year basically playing on the varsity level and if I'm not mistaken (correct me if I'm wrong Beavercreek) he did not play in middle school and shot up in height later and most kids it takes a while to learn how to play with a quick growth spurt. But I think he is a big part of the Cat team night in and out and has shown a lot of progress throughout the year. The Cats as a team are young and inexperienced but are growing as a team every game.

Jealous of what? Patton is nothing great at all. I am just saying that 6 blocks is nothng major at all. You still did not answer my question about Landon Slone getting Off. boards on him. BTW I wouldn't waste a piece of paper and the ink on getting this guys autograph. You probably have it sitting beside your bed and kiss it every night before you go to bed...:flame:
Really 15th all joking aside, I am a friend of Trevor's dad and I have watched him grow up to a fine young man. I just think you are being a little rough on him. Good kid, good family.

Oh yes 15th, to address the rebound situation. Patton was not guarding Slone so I did not see Slone rebound over him or him rebound over Slone. I will say that the official stats showed Prestonburg as a team out rebounded Paintsville. That is what bascally kept them in the game. Paintsville got several rebounds that kicked off the back of the rim. In fact I saw several that came all the way back past the freethrow line. Slone is a quality kid and he and Trevor are friends.

You say 6 blocks is nothing in one game but i guarantee if it was Arnett or Rice it would be the biggest thing that has happened all year and you wouldnt shut up about it. If you ask me and im sure a bunch will agree with me 6 blocks is a pretty good night.

Do you see them walking around about 6'5+? If Devin Rice EVER gets 6 blocks ill probably say he is the best player ever. But the fact is he will never get that because he is barely 6ft and does not have much "hops". Arnett may never get 6 blocks either because he is a senior but I would not start a whole other thread just because he gets 6 blocks! He is at the tallest 6'3, so that is more impressive. Patton should average 5-6 blocks a game!

It is hard to get block shots in the 15th. There are alot of calls made on a player if he is bigger than the one who he is guarding with body fouls. But on the other hand, the bigger ones usually has someone bumping him like crazy when he shoots.
BTW, according to the KHSAA website, on team stats, Patton is the team leader in blocked shots with 53. It was updated yesterday.

I would play the Burchett kid. From what I've seen he is their best overall player on both ends.

I don't know about the BEST on both ends. He is a fine young player however, he does deserve some Varsity PT judging by what I saw last night.
He played alot for P-Burg during the Hoops Classic though, IMO, he should play more Varsity.
