#40 Banks hit the shot. MC missed 2 free throws with :04 left and the ball, but MC turned the ball over, Dennis got the steal and threw it up ahead to Banks who turned around and hit the 3 as time expired. Eric Arnett had 29 for MC Devin Rice with 18. PC was led by Roman with 18. Great game as PC had the 11 pt lead at the end of 3. MC scored the first 7 points and only allowed PC 11 in the quarter but none bigger than the 3 at the end, tough LOSS for the Hornets. They will have SR night @ MC Wed. night vs. Prestonsburg.

Congrats to Powell. Solid effort by Magoffin but looks like they came up a bit short. I think this will silence all those people out there who said that this would be a blow out. Magoffin is a pretty decent team who should be able to make a run at the 57th title IMO. On the other side, Powell is a great team who has really showed their talent as of late.

Well i am shocked that no one has yet to mention the awful calls made in the first half...powell played an extremely rough game...they was hanging onto MC's jersey's the entire night! Magoffin hold your heads high you all played great in the 2nd half!

The Ref's were horrible. But they did not decide the out come of the game; the players did.

Magoffin had a 2 point lead with 4 seconds to go, they had two free throws comming plus the ball, due to an intentional foul being called on Powell county.
Magoffin missed both free throws, they still had a 2 point lead and the ball, they threw the ball away to Powell county, who took it down the left side and shot a 3 pointer from the left elbow before the buzzer ran out.

Magoffin had plenty of chances to seal the win and didn't close it.

This was no doubt the best team Magoffin has played. The boys also played great!!! Congrats to Powell county, they are a very good team!! That 00 was awesome player.Yes Magoffin lost, but most thought they wouldnt be close. They had a great comeback, but fell short. Great playing by both teams.

the game was called horrible, so was the jv game. this game was basically a football game the way bodies were being slung around, on both sides. but the one thing that gets me is why powell had 50+ fouls called on them, and magoffin only had bout 16 or so? the offcial scorekeeper didnt keep magoffins fouls right as powell was in the bonus and the scorekeeper for powell tried to tell the refs that there were 7 fouls, but powell had to inbound the ball and not shoot the bonus. i know the refs are human and all of that stuff everyone on here keeps preaching, but when are decent refs gonna show up on a everynight basis for all games being played? despite all the bad calls, both teams kept their cool and played on, helping each other up and playing their hearts out, powell over came one **** of night to pull off the victory.

I don't think Magoffin outplayed Powell, Powell had a 16 point lead in the third and went into the half up by double digits. Could of got ugly, but the refs really got into the game and what i thought was a poorly called game from both ends leaned way toward the Magoffin side toward the end. IMO Powell is a much better and atleast 20 points better.

I finally attended a powell co game and wasnt impressed much....magoffin came out and gave them a game in the second half......and about the refs...worst i have ever seen in my 13 years of following high school basketball...awful calls on both sides of the court......powell turned it over around 4-5 times in the last 3 min. of the game which fired magoffin up including the dunk from arnett.......at the end powell came out with a win due to a last second shot from the banks kid from powell....magoffin had the chance to seal the game but they didnt and that turns out to be a tough loss to a good powell co team.....congrats powell and i look forward to seeing you in the 14th region and congrats to magoffin for playing a well hard fought game.......and i dont even want to mention how bad the refs was that reffed the jv game....congrats to both teams

Yes Magoffin did out play Powell...Powell was ahead by 16 at the end of the 3rd but Magoffin came back in the 4th and took the lead at the end...just a lucky shot by powell happens to everyone and the refs DID NOT lean toward magoffin at all....powell was hanging all over MC literally pulling on their jersey's and nothing was called till the 2nd half...well if powell was so much better then they would have beaten us by more that 1 point and we had a good player hurt to.

Thank you 14thregionallstate, I fully agree with you, there was an argument over the books, one of the book keepers had #11 having 4 fouls and the other had him having 5 fouls, but I just happened to video tape the game, so I watched it and recounted and it was only 4 fouls. Not to mention at the end of the first half one team had like 14 or 15 fouls against them and the other had like 5 or 6. I can understand if you foul, then you foul, but in no case should the fouls be this uneven. Horrible reffing, and as a neutral fan I think both teams were jipped badly.

magoffin was down by 11 going into the 4th, not 16th, if you were really there then you would know. i was sitting right behind powell's bench and at the end of the 3rd i saw coach lively look up at the clock, and i did too. magoffin was down by 16 at one point in the game, but not going into the 4th. and as for magoffins score keeper, he was probably not thinking right or something, just like the refs. overall the game was horrible on both sides. i hope neither team has to see this kind of atmosphere again.
