Always great to see a youngster earn a scholarship to further the playing days, but most importantly further their education. Congrats on the achievement and hope his college years are very rewarding and memorable!

Congratulations Case. Heck of a basketball player in high school so I'm hoping to see some of his time on the hardwood with Pikeville College.

Congrats to Jamie it will be nice to see Brad Lowe and him back on the hardwood together they use to play ball back in grade school together and AAU ball. It would be awsome to see Hicks, Lowe and Case on the same team they would shot the lights out of it.

If you think about this, PC could be playing Jamie Case, Brad Lowe, Justin Hicks, that big 6'10 guy, and the JR. College player of they year, now that's a nice lineup.

Well Brad is coming along nicely and that Jr. College guy's nickname was something like "Sir hops a lot" so I'd say he can provide some offense, and with a good PG like Jamie they will win a good margin of games this year.

I seriously doubt that...Hicks is probably as good a shooter as Case, but nowhere else does his game stack up.
I'd take Case over Hicks 7 days a week, and twice on Sunday.

4 inches shorter than hicks? well obviously you have never seen both of these players....case is round 6'0-6'1 and hicks is like 5'9...Hicks may have a nicer shot SOMETIMES but Case can handle better, pass better, see the floor better, and has a lot more potential than Hicks...Sorry to disappoint you Raven Boy...

I dont see where this conversation is going. I would be surprised if Jamie or Justin started point guard next season. They might on the JV team, but not the varsity.

I watched the east west game and Hicks is probalby an inch taller. I think Hicks is around 5'11. I really doubt that you have seen Hicks play much or you wouldn't make some of those commits. I've seen both play and I must say HIcks is the far superior player. Hicks was voted second team allstate by the lex hearld and recieved 6 first team votes. I think there must be something to say about this kid when he is recieving that kind of votes from the coaches. He has also been voted 14th region POY two consective years by the coaches and just blew Clark Stepp away in the votes 9 to 1. Hicks can play and I must say he looked much better in the east west game than Case. Good luck to both, but look for Hicks to be a starter next year, if he does attend Pikeville.

Case is not even close to being 6'1 he may be 5'10 if that. Hicks is taller, stronger and shoots better. Flaws to him is his attitude off the court as well he gets shock up really easily. Case's off the court attitude is not any better nor is it on the court, I look for Hicks to play befor Case. Both are very talented players.

Thats impressive but saying Stepp got blew out of the POY running is not a strong argument. Hicks has a year on him so it was pretty obvious that Hicks would get it befor Stepp. Stepp did get the 14th regional MVP so that is saying enough for him for this season IMO.
Not sure I'd bring up Stepp in this thread, Case and Hicks are better than Stepp 10-1 it may not even be that close, but since thats a little off topic I'll not comment any farther. Both Players have their their strengths and weakness. Shooting the basketball I'd probabily call it even, although I'd say Hicks is more of a streak shooter but when he's hitting he's tough. Both have unlimited range. Defensively I'd take Case over Hicks because of strength. I'd say Hicks is probabily quicker and Case is probabily stronger. I'd say Case moves better w/out the basketball and gets open easier but Hicks looks to be harder to defend. So I guess if your comparing them its more of what kind of player you Prefer. Case is more of a Joe Crawford type and Hicks is more Ramel Bradley type player.(thats not to put eighter down...lol)
Congrats to Jamie and Congrats to Hicks on wher ever he decides to go.

If any other players sign with Pikeville from eastern Ky, the whole point is for them to be TEAM-MATES to compliment and help each other. I am sure that Coach Wells will be able to mesh his team well. ;)

His attitude and grades and sub par which will not go over well with Wells nor the admin at Pikeville. He needs to clean this up befor, as well his off court activites which will remain sealed will not help him any.

Attitude and grades??? He had a GREAT year on the court and led his team to a 24-8 record..NOBODY worked harder to improve his game than Jamie has..led his team in scoring... assists..and steals..was a lockdown defender.and he really matured this season as a leader..the proof is in the numbers...as far as his grades...not sure where you are getting your info...but you are sorely mistaken.....it's probably best for you not to talk about things that you have no knowledge nor are none of your business to begin with....you think Kelly Wells would have taken him if he thought for a second that he was a risk either in the classroom or on the court???

I'd say if you asked the two kids they would say they are looking forward to playing together...not worried about which one is 6 feet or 5'11....

Hoops Lover on the court he is an all-star, and trust me is grades are a threat to him. His attitude off the court is not very good and trust me on this one I have seen with my own two eyes. Kelly Wells probley has no idea of is off the court activites, I can tell you one thing trying to argue with me that Wells wouldn't take him if he was a risk go back to last May and look in the police blotter and you will see a very familiar name in there as to one of his players right now. So umm yeah I do know what I am talking about, I have talked to many admin at Belfry and each have said that he is one of the most talented players they have seen BUT that his grades are not going to carry him away from Pikeville.

It is not against the law to tell some one that their grades are sub par. Also i would rather not name the admin b/c it would not be fair to them for me to do that. "Carry him away from Pikeville" to go play for a better school.

Actually YES it is...but anyway...talk about being unfair...you are talking about his grades..something you have NO firsthand knowledge of...that is pretty unfair imo.
Also..even if it wasn't illegal...knowing the administrators at the school...they would never discuss one of their own kids grades with a stranger...so that bird doesn't fly either..

First part - If you think that Coach Wells does not know everything that Coach Casey does about Jamie then you my friend don't know as much as you think. Coach Casey and Coach Wells are probably as good of friends as you can get and Coach Casey holds 0 back when telling college coaches about his players.
2nd part - Mr. Varney, Mr. Hunt, Coach Haywood, Coach Casey, Miss Pauley and his teachers are the only ones that know Jamie's grades other than Jamie Considering I know who you are, I find it HIGHLY UNLIKELY that any of those told you anything about Jamie's grades or that they were sub par.
As far as Jamie's attitude on and off the court -
He got 1 T that I can remember in his entire career, against your beloved Hawks, that shouldn't have been called but hey it happens.
He go suspended for a little while, but lets look at it a little deeper. I think the suspension showed me and some other people a few things. 1 - the character of Coach Casey, as this incident could have been swept under the rug and not reported like I know that happens at some other schools. 2 - the character of Jamie he should not have did what he done BUT he took his punishment like a man and it was played out on here like a soap opera by you and others on here in full public view and you know what, it made him a better person because he learned from his mistake. He could have very easily done his time and came back out of shape and let the season be a waist, but he didn't. He came back in tremendous shape because he worked out on his own and wanted to prove to you and himself that Belfry was a team to be reckoned with.

No more discussions about his grades or off court issues.
They are both personal matters that are between him and the school he is going to. This does not need to be brought up again in this thread.

I personally think Jamie will fit in nicely at Pikeville College. Watching him in open gym, he plays very well for a high school senior going against college players. He is a much better passer than I could remember him being in high school. Not a selfish player at all. A good team player.

Some people in this thread need to remember that He is also a teenager, and as a part of growing up, we learn from our mistakes!
