Paintsville shot themselves in the foot early on in this one. A strike out victim getting on base started a three run rally for Williamsburg. Kyle Sublett scored the first run for the Tigers off of a sac fly from Patrick Butcher. Paintsville only had two hits, both from Kyle Sublett and one run scored going into the 7th. With two outs and down 6-1 in the 7th Paintsville finally came alive at the plate. Patrick Butcher walked, Corey Adams got a hit, I can't remember what Humphrey did but he got on base. Pugh hit a two RBI single but it wasn't enough to overcome the deficit. Shane Grimm did pitch good but came up with the loss. The Tigers had numerous faulty errors and the Jackets capitalized on them. Congrats to Williamsburg and good luck at Apple Bee's, I'm sure I speak for the rest of Tigerland when I say we'll be rooting for you.

Pville just didn't come ready to play IMO. Grimm walked about 4 batters and they just couldn't come up with the plays they needed to win. Grimm only allowed 4 hits but the walks and errors really hurt Pville. This was a tought loss for the Tigers because they really, really wanted to advance in the tourney. I think the big matchup on Monday with JCHS was in the back of their mind also.

I think playing on next Saturday and prom became more of an issue than looking ahead to another game. JC is a big game no doubt, but as you said the Tigers really, really wanted to advance to Apple Bee's. The boys trying to figure out how to make enough time for preparation for prom as well as make eating plans at a certain time with trying to make it back from Lexington became much more of a larger issue.

I believe you're right on this one.
I'd like to quote a few Coach Adkins-isms on that issue... but I'll refrain.
Hats off to Williamsburg, who obviously came to play baseball. Good Luck in Lexington.

IMO, we just stunk up the place!
Paintsville seemed ready to play, aned with our first hitter(Adams) Drills a shot right back up the middle that hits off the pitcher's throwing elbow straight to the third baseman for a routine(LOL) 1-5-3 put out. There was a lengthy delay for the injury, the starting pitcher went to SS while the next kid took about 5 minutes to warm up. Then with Tigers at first and 2nd, W-burg had three coaches come out and argue a check swing no call for about three more minutes, BTW aren't coaches supposed to wear team colors or uniform type stuff?, Paintsville never recovered and made bad plays, poor throws and except for Sublett, seemed to not be able to do anything at the plate.
Not trying to take anything away from the Jackets cause they definately deserved the W tonight, but anyone could have beaten the Tigers tonight.
We are in such a funk right now, that I am not sure if we can win 5 more games this year, with our same play as the past 2 weeks!

I sure hope they didn't have prom on their minds. **** I wish we woulda had All "A" State in Lexington the day of prom so I wouldn't have had to go, lol.
