Roger Harless was announced to take the head coaching job of the Cardinals. This now leaves an opening for the girls head coaching position.

Sheldon Clark had a chance at getting 2 or 3 proven coaches or go opposite and get a young guy who wanted what some have called the worst job in the 15th.

They then go and hire a guy who's been there before and couldn't get the job done......

From what I have heard, 5 people have already showed interest for the job. 3 are out of district. But no one can be interviewed until June 10th.

From my sources, actual interviews aren't allowed June 10th. That is a month from when they announced Harless leaving the girls for the boys team. Applications are being taken, but no official interviews have taken place just yet.

I believe it will be between Rice and Bobby Allen for the job. Rice seems to know his basketball. As well as Allen. The thing is, Bobby Allen has been at SCHS for quite some time now, and seems to go well with the kids. He's a great guy, and to me a great coach. He really knows how to motivate a team.

I know for a fact that there has been at least one interview. I didn't ask if it was "official" but it happened.

Then it was most likely something casual, cause interviews are not allowed.

Interviews have started, with nothing "casual" about them.

IMO it will not be Allen beause he has been an assistant coach before but decided to all it quits when his daughter graduated.

Actually Allen took a year off. The tragic death of his parents (which won't and shouldn't be discussed on here) took a toll on him. He is returning this year to coach the Volleyball team, and possibly the basketball team if he gets the job.

Another thing. SCHS can't really afford to hire someone new out of the system. Bobby is already a teacher there, which helps him a lot.

I hope he gets the job and I'm pulling for him all the way!

Let's see what is Roger Harless' record at SCHS, when he was coach there before, against other district and area coaches? I remember he beat Bill Mike Runyon out of the district tournament 2 years during the 4 years he coached at SCHS, interrupting Mike's great run in the 90's. He beat Johnny Martin 3 out of the 4 games they played. He beat tough competitor, Danny Adams regularly. Split with Frankie Smith of T.V. After many years, Paintsville and other area teams again have reason to fear SCHS. Maybe not this year, but very soon.
