Some of friends seen a black bear with a cub near CARR CREEK.

Several bear sitings in Jenkins recently and a black bear was captured a couple of weeks ago at Fords Branch, just south of Pikeville.

I saw one near the Belfry area several months back. I got to see two this past year. One in Virginia and the one in Pike County. I have only seen 3 in the wild and I am 37!

My Maternal Grandparents and family live in Letcher County. There have always been bears in Letcher County. I remember when I was little..(not all that long ago...LOL) there were bears sited quite often. Especially near Pine Mountain. I loved spending Summers over there!

My buddy works as a security guard and he gets off about 4 in the mourning so me him and another friend headed to jenkins to eat at hardees which I didnt know don't open til 5. So we headed up to Jenkins Lake to hang out for a while and a cop pulled in and asked if we had seen a bear!
