1. Greenup County - defending 16th region and semi-state 7 champs. Tyler Hineman returns.
2. Boyd County
3. Ashland
4. Rowan County
5. the team other than Greenup County that gets out of the loaded 63rd district (Lewis County - Raceland - Russell)

Ashland will have a very good team this year.

From the 61st, id say Rowan or Bath will win it. As far as region, probably greenup

I look for Greenup to repeat, they have a very good coaching staff...However, you can never count Boyd out any year, they showed alot of improvement this summer, and if there pitching staff can get any depth at all they could very easily run away with it..

Boyd will get back in the groove and win the 16th in 08.

Boyd owns the region.. East Carter, Greenup both have a chance of knocking them off the top of the region

This was before the present coach showed up. This coaching staff will not be able to pull off very many Regional Championship, especially with their philosophies.

Yeah they will.. It doesnt matter who coaches Boyd... Other schools are afraid of the name on their jersey, plain and simple...

Uh, OK. The basketball program used to be pretty dominant at Boyd too, and have that same type of response, but do they now??

Boyd County should be very competitive in the Region this year again. They have a good chance of winning the Region.

Not exactly the most intelligent of all statements.

Boyd County is a pitcher producing factory. The pitching coach is the one and the very same that has made Boyd County the traditional 16th region powerhouse all of these years, even with Jody Hamilton at the helm, and are all protegies of Coach Hamilton. There is nobody in the business any better about cranking out college level pitchers year after year after year than Brandon Ramsey.

i think boyd's pitching coach has a lot to say of the overall program and i think thats why it continues to be as successful as it is, i would not county them out just yet they will definetely be in the mix this season to win it, they lost a lot, but they are one of those schools who simply knows how to reload and compete year after year..

OK...Just remember that statement at the end of the year. Because our boys have something to say about that. They will have to beat us first.:D

No, I think you need to remember I said that because regardleass of what you think they will be in the mix of every regular season game and every post season game. I don't see this team every getting blown out, and I think the coaches there will have them ready to compete. But I do think you should remember I said that.

I would have to pick Greenup Co. as being the favorite again in the 16th. One can never count out Boyd Co., they have one heck of a program. I hear that Lewis Co. will be pretty good as well.

I know Lewis was down last season, but they have a great coaching staff up there so you never know I guess.

I had just heard that they might be pretty good this season, I don't really know as to why or what they have. Also, although not one of the main favorites I would have to throw Raceland in as a "darkhorse" possibility. IMO they are going to be pretty good as well.
East Carter also usually has a good team and one can never count Ashland out of the 16th in any sport. JMO.
If I keep going I will name everyone - lol , so I will stop now.

With Greenup only loosing 4 seniors, (which only 3 played the majority of the time) , I believe they will be the team to beat. East carter is an excellent team and is always tuff. After them Boyd, and Raceland will have a shot. But anything can happen.

If Shaw pitches for Lewis then they have a chance of beating any team in the region. He threw a no-no in the 3 innings he pitched against East. I would have liked to see him have the chance to finish that one. IMO they would have won had he stayed in the game. No real sure why they took him out. My guess would be weather or it was just to early to let him throw too many pitches.

Greenup run ruled the Raiders in the first meeting and East looked the worse i have ever seen an East Carter team look, Greenup didnt impress me much either except for the bats, they beat the ball to death.

Do you know how many people throw no hitters through 3 innings? It happens in a lot of games. I don't mean to keep raggin on you, but this is just crazy talk. Greenup mercy ruled East, which would leave you to believe they will do the same to Lewis, and they are in your region. So I don't think it matters who you throw, Greenup or Boyd, or even Ashland and Raceland will beat Lewis every time.

I agree that Greenup and Boyd might beat Lewis every time, but I disagree on Ashland and Raceland. I think that Lewis can beat both these teams and they will give Greenup and Boyd a tougher game than anybody else in the region.

Fleming County has been down for awhile now. Lewis is just not going to be in the mix come region time. They may make it to the region, but I still feel like there are 4 to 5 teams a lot better than them.

Fleming is the 16th. They are not better than Lewis. If Lewis wasn't trying to see who could potentially pitch for them this year duringthe Fleming game then they probably would have won.

I had forgotten Fleming was even in the 16th and they beat Lewis. So that tells me what kind of teams these are. I don't understand how some people honestly think Lewis is a contender in the 16th.
