If Dillon could pick up 7 to 8 more MPH he would have every college coach in the country on his trail. He is a very good change of speed and location pitcher. One other thing that hurts Dillion is playing on a high school program that is not going to promote and showcase him in any way. You cant keep playing all of the weak West Virginia and Southwestern Virginia teams that Phelps plays and expect any college coach to follow your progress. It's a shame too, because he has that blessed gift of being a lefty, but he does need to get his velocity up a tad to get really serious notice. It's a good thing for him though that he does have a chance to be seen playing on his summer travel team. Good luck .

Dillon is an excellent baseball and basketball player. I have been around that child since his first little league years. You are correct in stating that he has a gift with his pitching abilities. Being a "lefty" as you stated, and his growth/strength will help him to get noticed when they do play teams from other areas. He has been playing travel ball for quite a while as well. I do think he will go far and do rather well this year. Good luck to him and the entire PHS baseball team.

Does Phelps have any games scheduled out of the area this coming season? For Dillon's sake or for any other player in eastern Kentucky your high school team just about has to have games in the Central Kentucky/Louisville or Huntington/Charleston area before you are ever going to get looked at by any body. They are not going to come to Phelps to watch you. Heck, you have to beg and plead to get anyone to come to watch you at places like Paintsville, Pikeville, JC, and Lawrence Co the way it is anyways. Scouts just do not come into this area as they feel the talent level is not up to par to begin with. I know that year before last that Phelps had a game scheduled with a 57th district team and cancelled at the last moment to only to pick up a game with Tug Valley. The silly thing is this 57th district team was coming to Phelps and they still cancelled out. I know that Dillon's summer coach is trying very hard to get him some exposure by playing teams from all over the southeast. Hopefully that will help him out come college time.

East Ridge has a kid that came from christ central a few years back that throws mid to upper 80's, maybe someone from the school can help me with his name?
The Napier kid from PCC is going to be a stud. He is very smooth.

Paintsville has 3 Jrs that have won 2 Jr and Sr league State Championships each. So I guess we better look out for them as well.

Dillon is a good pitcher and I've played with him a lot but he hasn't improved as much as he needs to to play at the next level. He has the potential but needs to work harder to max out on it!! But Good Luck to him and I hope he does well.

Look, based off how a Sr. League team does over the summer, consisting of mainly players from the varsity team means nothing when it comes to High School. Its great that they accomplished these things over the summer. That's just it though, it was "over the summer". Sr. League is Sr. League, it is not High School. The competition is not near as stout in Sr. League. To be completely honest, most of the kids ages 16 and up that are rather talented baseball players, are playing on some really good traveling or summer teams. Not Little League. Can we please forget about how good a team did over the summer, and get back on topic as to who the best Juniors are in the area?

Not sure if this kid is a junior or not, but Paintsville's Austin Lyons is going to be good. He threw a no hitter this past season and had a very good ERA as well.

Well...ok!
He told me himself that he threw 4 no-hit innings against Sheldon Clark, then was taken off the mound. The next pitcher gave up a hit to the next batter.
A no-hitter has to be a complete game.
I think the world of Austin, he is one of the nicest and genuine kids you will ever meet, So I'm not dissing him. Just clearing something up.

Well he threw a no-hitter as long as the coach would allow it to go on. It's not Lyons fault he was jerked. If I'm not mistaken he threw a no hitter his 8th grade year too. Well same situation as jerked in the middle of it.

Actually, in his 8th grade year, he had a perfect game going when his coach pulled him.

Austin did throw 4 innings of no-hit against Sheldon Clark and was removed. He didn't throw a no-hitter this year, with Post 76 but he did go 5-1, including a win over WV Tech's freshmen, when they played their college.
Austin pitched a 2 hitter against Ron Golden Baseball academy, at Columbus with Post 76.
This is the run down.... I misunderstood his Mom.

Yep... I had spoken to his Mom and I misunderstood what she was telling me, so I went to the "source" and got the correct information.
