Shelby Valley will once again travel to Blackcat Stadium next Friday night to take on the Prestonsburg Blackcats. Shelby Valley is coming off of there 23-12 victory over Bath County, Prestonsburg is coming off of there 70-6 win over Morgan County. Prestonsburg's offense is much, much better since sophomore quarterback Micheal Burchett has a few games under his belt, and I really think Prestonsburg can take care of business in this one and get ready for one of those Louisville schools. GO BLACKCATS!

I agree, this team is completely different having played a few games with Burchett at the helm. Blevins at fullback was also a good decision by Coach D, makes their running game so much better.

Prestonsburg played awful in the first matchup of the year, and they still won 14-0. Prestonsburg will come out focused and ready to play. I think the margin will be more this time around.

Actually, if they win this game they will face the winner of Desales and CAL(Christian Academy of Louisville). Doesn't make much sense to me either, but thats the way it is on the KHSAA website.

Anyway, I would love to see Shelby Valley pull off the shocker, but I don't see it happening. P-Burg sounds like they are more comfortable with the new quarterback, which spells trouble for the Wildcats. In addition, Valley is coming off a tough, hard-fought victory over Bath County, while P-Burg is coming off what amounted to a glorified scrimmage. The Blackcats should be much fresher this week. What districts are you talking about? Certainly not the local 1A district, where they would likely be #2 behind Pikeville. Or even the local 3A district, where they would be no worse than #3 behind Belfry and SC.

How can Valley be terribly overrated? By what rating system? Name me one game this year that Valley was favored to win that they didn't do so. All of their losses were to more highly regarded teams. In fact, I recall many people on here picking them to lose to Pike Central at the beginning of the year, and to Bath County last week, and they won both. So if anything, Valley was underrated this year.

What about clawing of the opponents face or the twisting of ankles or worse yet the fact that they love to grab the private parts of their opponents. This is just disgusting to me and it all falls back on their coaches.

I don't know if any of this is true or not by I agree, its disgusting and something that I don't like hearing about as a proud supporter of this team, but I don't think it falls back on the coaches because you cannot always control what goes on out there on the field. But if the players where ever caught doing this on film I'm sure the Derossett's would take care of them in a disciplinary action.

Where will the next game be at, if Pburg wins?

If Prestonsburg wins they will have to play the winner of the Christian Academy Louisville/DeSales game. If DeSales wins, Prestonsburg will have to travel to Louisville, but if Christian Academy Louisville wins, its a home game for the Blackcats.

But I don't know the scenario if Shelby Valley wins.

If you aren't joking that's really sad. Picking Valley to pull off an upset would not sound crazy in of itself, but to say they will win by 70+ points (then later on to state that you're being serious) is nuts. Trust me, I would love to see Valley come away with the win, but I also know that P-Burg would have to be considered the heavy favorite. I'm just being realistic.

And for all you P-Burg people on here that like to paint all Shelby Valley fans with one large stroke, know that most of us do not think our team is going to waltz into Prestonsburg and blow out the Blackcats. I myself predicted a 36-8 win for P-Burg earlier, but I would be ecstatic with a 1-point win for SV :D .

You are right it doesn't always fall back on the coaches. But a coach can make a huge difference as to if it will happen again. I just keep hearing about it from opposing players and coaches. It makes me want to vomit.

I can tell you for certain that the coaches don't teach their kids to play dirty. I played against them for four years and I never thought they played dirty. They play hard and yeah some kids take cheap shots but every team has kids that do that. The coaches their are classy guys I have known some of them for years and I believe that most people that bash how they coach and how their teams play are simply jealous of the success that they have had. :booo:

Because Iam sure these remarks were made from players making excuses why they lost. Why is it that when a team loses it is either the refs fault or the other team was playing dirty. I just don't understand. It is FOOTBALL people. if you can't run with the big dogs then get off the field.

Almost every football game I have been to the last few years, someone in the stands or even the football programs themselfs video tape ball games. Can you put a video or anything up on youtube that shows this going on? If it happens like you say it does, then show the proof.

Turnovers wins ball games, as well as blown coverages lose them. Stop making excuses. It was also Prestonsburg's first game with a sophmore QB at the helm, so their offense was a little edgy. I don't see Prestonsburg letting Shelby Valley score, much like the first game.

Where are they hearing people say that Shelby Valley will win? Having some SV fans (on BGR or otherwise) pick with their heart doesn't really count, as I'm sure many fans from any school would predict their team to win, no matter who they're playing. I'm pretty sure that any unbiased observers are picking P-Burg in this one. I'm a Shelby Valley fan myself, and I'm sure not picking the upset.

I guess what I'm saying is that if the Blackcat coaches have to play the "we don't get any respect" card in order to get the team fired up, then something is wrong. This is the playoffs, people, that should be all the motivation you need.

AWESOME! I didn't know the "Sports Guys" had picked SV. Go Blue! I think we'll all be blue after sitting out in 30 degree weather tonight.

Tell me: what strategies do coaches come up with for nights like tonight - extremely cold and muddy. You know that field has to be an absolute wreck. [No offense, p-burg fans. The stadium seating and everything else is really nice.]
Anyway, just wondering what kind of tactics one would think of ahead of time to deal with these conditions. Thoughts?
