Bluegrassrivals.com Boys Basketball Top 5 (December 24)

Throughout the season BGR will be doing a top 5 from areas around the state as decided upon the staff. The results will be posted each Sunday evening.

The 3 areas are West/Southern Kentucky (Regions 1-5), Central/Metro Kentucky (Regions 6-12) and Eastern Kentucky (13-16)

Staff casts votes for the top 5 in each area. A first place vote gets 5 points, a second place gets 4, third place gets 3, fourth place gets 2 points, and a fifth place vote gets 1 point. The rankings then go by highest points per area voted upon.

Who would you knock out to put East Ridge in there? They may be the only team in the region without a mark in the loss column, but who have they played? Any W's in there over a true quality team?

A lot of teams would be undefeated with that schedule. They should be nowhere near the top 5 until they beat somebody decent.

I think the next rankings will look about the same for EKY. Valley solidifies their spot after a big win vs. South Maimi Senior High in the Stop DWI tournament in NY.

Lexington Catholic, you are missing them in the rankings.. I think they are much better than Jeffersontown, Scott County, and Ballard.

Shelby Valley could jump up if they do well in this tourney in NY.

East Ridge was not in the rankings because they have yet to beat a quality team this year. Earlier tonight, they had their first taste of strong competition by meeting Pikeville in the PIT, and they lost.
