I was one to think of this game was low scoring that Hazard would have taken this one! Played right into there favor and just goes to show you how tough this JBS team is! Talk about an All-A tourney to be! I can't wait.

Congrats to JBS for the win. Hazard played a hard fought game and come up just a little short in this one. One interesting fact that no one has mentioned so far is that Hazard didnt get to the free throw line at all in the first half.
Al Holland had a great game plan and executed it very well. Hazard controlled the tempo and kept it close to the end. Hazard shot very well from outside tonight and Jbs didnt shoot like they had the past few weeks. JBS didnt distribute the ball like they did against Pikeville and that played into Hazards plan. JBS never could get a good lead so they could play their type of tempo. I cant wait if they meet in the ALL A......

I predicted JBS by 5 & they won by 4 ;) ol JYD might know a thing or two :) Also, as I predicted this would be a hard fought victory for JBS. Tate Cox was money again tonight and Clark Stepp was fantastic. The supporting cast does their job. JBS is a tough team! With all that said, I do think Hazard is more than capable of beating JBS though. When Wallen begins to mesh with the bulldogs I think it will make them a better team. Before the season is over Hazard will more than likely play JBS two more times this year. IMO I don't see JBS beating Hazard 3 straight games. Great game tonight & good luck to both teams

JBS showed tonight that they are capable of controlling the tempo effective enough to play with a tough Hazard team. As far as the comment about Hazard not getting to the free throw line the first half was due to their choice of shot selection from the perimeter and not forcing the ball enough inside to challenge JBS's Big men inside. After the incident in last night's game, with Coach Holland sending his best free throw shooter to the line when someone else was fouled and should have been shooting. I was sitting behind Hazard's bench during that game and witnessed the coaching staff after the player made both free throws and timeout was called, cautioning the players about celebrating to much about getting by with it. Feel free to response to this but get ready to hear from a lot of fans whom witnessed the same inicident. I predicted JBS to win by 5.

I think this game proved that the Dawgs can play with JBS. The score was tied at half time. It was toward the end of the game when the Bulldogs missed a couple of shots and JBS took the lead. If JBS thought they were going to win this one by 30 or 40 points they were badly mistaken. I couldn't be more proud of the Bulldogs right now if they had won. I was very proud of the way the Dawgs played tonight. Congrats to both teams. We will meet again!!

Hazard is going to have to start putting teams away that they should be beating or they may not meet in the region finals. Hazard had two close calls and could have easily not made it to the finals of this one. They should surely meet in the ALL A but the region finals is more of a question mark. Hazard did suprise me in this game though because I thought the had been playing mediocre. I might be wrong but I think this is the closest that Hazard will get to JBS this year. Should be fun to watch.....

Congratulations to Tate Cox on the MVP award and finally Brent Hall got some well deserved recognition for his hard playing and filling his role as a tough rebounder on both ends of the court, playing good hard -nosed defense and a scoring threat in the low post. Short and S. Hall are also big part of the success of this JBS team.
It was good to see Tate Cox win the MVP of the tourney....He is a class act and IMO the best player around the mountains. He is a special player and makes everyone around him better. It will be something to watch him next year when he moves to his natural position of point guard. He will IMO be the best point to come out of east Ky in a long long time...I really thought that JBS"s three inside players really played well in the tourney and even though they dont score as many points I think they are what makes this team so good because they block and alter so many shots and hold teams to mostly one shot a possession. They will never get the credit in the box scores but they are what makes the difference in this team.....

The only rude people were the Hazard Pep Section and everyones pep section is rude if you get out of Eastern Ky. As for the game, Tate Cox did look good. Stepp was taking too many shots and missing them and almost cost them the game. Didnt use Collins either. If JBS would have played as a team they could have beat Hazard by 20 or 30.

This is a fair assessment of the game. The next time they play they wont be on tv and maybe some will play as a team instead of trying to get a college scholarship...This is the closest that Hazard will get this year because no more tv games.....

How wrong you are...I would bet the farm they meet two more times this year and Hazard will win one of those. You will not beat a Al Holland coached team that plays defense they way they do three times. So, UK96 which would you prefer to lose? The All A or the big one?

JBS will win any other games they play at least by double figures...Hazard had their chance to win a game and could not win even though JBS played bad...That was their only chance and if they do meet again it will probably be in the ALL A because I am not sure Hazard will make it to the finals of the region with their inconsistent play...I agree that Coach Holland is a good coach but he just doesnt have the players to beat JBS...This was their one shot and they blew it...It wont be close again....

This is the last season of Cumberland basketball and fans would show up in droves to see the Redskins in the WYMT Finals in their final year as a school, so respectfully, I'm going to say that your statement is horse. WYMT does a great job hosting this tournament, giving out scholarship money (that goes to area schools throughout the mountains, not just ones who have alumni with deep pockets) and creating a great atmosphere for basketball.
If you can't prove it - don't post it.

He did not make them good they were good b4 he even got them. They could have won without a coach. I could have been the coach with half the players he had and won games. And i would bet the farm that you were one of those people there in the pep section that jetted out of the gym with 30 seconds to go embarassed cause you got beat.

I have heard alot of people say the same thing that refs are scared of Big AL but I dont know if that is truth or myth. Luckily for JBS 14th region officials will not be calling the region. I heard that AL has been lobbying to get 14th region officials but was voted down...
I dont think that refs will be a factor when they meet again..

This was a great game, and even though our team was beaten, I couldn't be any more proud of the Bulldogs. After all, this game was simply for bragging rights and we are soon facing another battle in the All A Tournament closely followed by the Regional. I must say, it would be highly unusual for a team to win three out of three when they are so closely matched with their opponent. If we had to lose...the WYMT was the place to do it!
Also, the JBS team has been playing together for how many years? Since gradeschool, I believe, and the chances of them vastly improving in the future is slim to none. Hazard, on the other hand, is still young and we have added another quality player just this week. So, in all probability, Hazard will improve over the next few weeks with a projected peak during the Regional Tournament. I will take our chances, and as one of the previous posters said..."I'll bet the farm," that Hazard will win at least one of these games. By the way, where exactly is the farm located you are willing to bet...near Allice Lloyd College?
So, Bulldogs go forward and play with pride. You have a great coach, a devoted fanbase and the horses to win this race. Go Bulldogs!

Can JBS improve? Tough question to answer. Maybe a shot here and a shot there would be their only improvment. These kids at JBS have been playing high school ball together for what , 4-6 years. Can they improve? Not as much as Hazard.

Why is it that everytime a team plays JBS close they always play bad? There's a reason for that, it's called good defense. You always have an excuse JB STepp. I still say Hazard will win when these two meet again. JBS is not any better than this Hazard team. I sense a little fear there UK96. Why does JBS need to improve? They are already beating everyone around I'm not saying that they can't be beat, but, um so far no one around here has done it, have they? JBS is a good team but I think after this year they will start to fall a little bit. Isn't it GREAT to see two East Ky. High School teams attract so much attention!!!!!!!! A question I have concerning the Hazard Bull Dogs game against Cumberland and this falls in line with the addition of the New transfer that gets to play the first game [ approx. 20 mins.] of first game he becomes eligible for. What happened that the Lewis kid for Hazard saw " O" playing time in the game against the Red Skins??? This was a player that was in the earlier starting rotation. Anyone with info , please fill us in on this...................
Two things:
1) anyone know the stats ie FG %
2) It was nice to see Cumberlands fans stay and cheer for JBS. Fromwhat I heard, Hazard's fans were rude/cursing to their fans/cheerleaders when they played. I know kids will be kids, but it would be nice to see some control over what teams fans do and say during a game.

haha..you must not have been in the pep section or even close. Yeah there was some "talking" going on...but nothing personal as to the point of cursing to fans and cheerleaders. YEAH we might be a lil rude but thats part of being in a high school pep section at a basketball game---we are not the only team that does this...haha We were just cheering for our team and having fun--which as far as I know "rude" pep sections have been around since organized sports existed...lol SO just ease up a lil with personal attacks saying we did stuff that we didnt...thnx BUT---this is not to you personally kj52, its to everyone who has been saying stuff about us previously...

So let me get this straight..Calling the cheerleaders "sluts" and throwing things at them isn't considered "rude" behavior?????? I can't believe they let this go on at the game. It was ridiculous.

Randy Lewis on Hazard's team did not play against Cumberland because he missed practice prior to the game. He was then suited and played against JBS. I applaud the coach for enforcing his rules, even in the tournament. I also feel that Randy will continue to practice and perform in all of our upcoming games.

Why does JBS need to improve? They are already beating everyone around I'm not saying that they can't be beat, but, um so far no one around here has done it, have they? JBS is a good team but I think after this year they will start to fall a little bit. They will still have some good players but alot of those players see very little or no playing time right now and it will take them a while to get those players up to par. IMO!!!!
I was only answering a question that someone asked me. The question was, Can JBS improve?

Why not get your ref license then you can call a fair game for the other team?
It is my opinion that the 14th region does not have good refs, if you think they are great then thats ok for you to think that, but please have the same respect for my opinion. I don't expect everyone to agree with me, but I can't honestly see that any of them are any good.

I just stated that you can get your ref license so they would have at least one good one that wouldnt be afraid of calling a fair game when Hazard plays.

Someone somewhere will enjoy your farm very much, that is if your farm is worth having
You got to beat JBS to get the farm. Good luck with that! :lmao:

This is a fair assessment of the game. The next time they play they wont be on tv and maybe some will play as a team instead of trying to get a college scholarship...This is the closest that Hazard will get this year because no more tv games.....
couldnt agree more. I am so sick of this one man offense, When jbs plays as a team they can play with anyone. I watched the one player that im sure you are thinking about bring the ball up the court and no one else touch it 7 times in a row and miss every time the first quarter. Im sure this is not good for the scholarship possibilites. These teams want a team player. Survivor I dont know where your farm is but you better keep the location a secret because there is a very good chance that jbs will win all three. I dont think Jbs brought their best game saturday night by a long shot. I think on a good night if jbs playes team ball they could easily beat Hazard by 15-20. I dont care if Rick Pitino was coaching them. And i dont mean any disrespect to Hazard, i think they have a good team.

I also don't see Coach Holland getting beat three times in one season by the same team.
I saw coach Holand walking on water just last week. :lmao:

haha...i never heard that....not saying it wasnt said. I just didnt hear it and i was in the pep section. But, Do you think that a mother and wife (who will remain nameless) with a megaphone on the front row who was threatening and making personal attacks to people in our pep section and saying that she "hopes she will not see them after the game...for their sake...d**m rednecks" is that not "rude" behavior buddy? I cant believe they let that go on at the game either. Youve gotta give respect to get it. lol
