View Full Version : Cloning: Wrong?

We are currently studying this in school right now and I want to know what everyone but me thinks about it. So far they've only cloned animals instead of us luckily, due to it still being illegal and i hope it stays that way. There is even a glow in the dark cat in existance! I want one, they simply take glowing mitochondria from lakes and insert in into the animal cell then feed to a female cat.
-IMO cloning is wrong and the complete opposite of what god wants us to do. In the future they predicted it would be possible for women to have babies without males. No fun! right guys? lol. 3 of every 10 men in America support cloning. I for one am not 1 of those 3 men
-What do you guys think?

I support researching it...if it can help anyone than I'm for it.

MODS? can u hook us up?
btw they are even cloning meat now. So whenever you buy meat at Food City or Wal-Mart. It could be from a clone because it clearly states that labeling it for cloned animals isnt required

The FDA said that the cloned meat is perfectly fine...i think I saw that on CNN.

cloning meat is fine.
cloning humans is wrong and playing God. What gives humans the right to control something as natural as childbirth. What about what it will do to the clones? "Mom, why are my eyes this color?" "Because it's what I wanted, I didn't let you be made by chance or turn out with unique physical characteristics." Human beings were meant to be born by chance.
It's playing God, it's not letting nature run its corse.

oh of coarse, Theres nothing wrong with that. Its just kind of grose when you think about it when your eating a hamburger
The day they clone humans is the day I send some letters. Cause you could grow up and marry someone and they could be a clone
I heard a womens twim could give her a kidney and she has to take 30 pills a day in order for her sisters kidney to not reject it. Id get tired of that real soon

You're all for playing God and controlling things that weren't meant to be controlled by humans? You're all for creating objects that weren't made naturally?
Now look at it from the clones' perspective: oh you're not unique or different, you're that person's exact copy. Ever think about how cruel that would be to have to say to someone?

That womens sister wasnt a clone, Cloning is illegal right now. That was her sister. :)
And how would you feel if you were cloned and you said Mom, why am I here? and she said oh sweety we cloned you for spare body parts incase something happens

I'm for saving lives, whether it be playing God or not. Clones wouldn't be anyones exact copy by the way...they could be made to look however someone wanted them to look but they wouldn't be an exact copy. I don't support cloning people...I think you guys took it that way. I support cloning organs or anything like that that could save people's lives.

Aren't doctors playing god as well? What happened in the caveman years. Babies were not born, people were not treated for illnesses and did not live as long as they do today.
What would have happened to you if not for the advances in modern medicine? If it can be done to help mankind then I am not opposed to it.

Think about what it's doing to the clones, saying "oh, you were just a science experiment, not born like every other human in history."
Doctors aren't playing God, they are simply using the intelligence that God gave them to aid God's people. However, using a cloned person for medical research is treating that person as an object: as means to an end.
In WWII, the Nazis used Jews for experiments, was that ok?
You're saying cloning "people", which any country that would use people for experiments or as a means to an end would most likely eventually come under worldwide persecution.

Who is saying that the clones would only be used for medical research. Maybe they would and maybe they wouldn't.
Maybe cloning would be an alternate means for a lady to have a child who could not have one naturally due to complications.
It is just another advance in modern medicine that you or I will never live long enough to see the full effect of anyway.

I agree with Midee. The "playing God" saying goes back to people getting blood transfusions and you could even say they're playing God when they give a deceased persons organs to someone else.
I could make the argument that the person was meant to die, and that the doctors saved their life by giving them someone elses blood, but that's ridiculous.
Doctors have long been accused of playing God, but they are simply using the knowledge that has been given to them. I don't know a single doctor who wants to do human cloning so that he can create his own universe and import cloned beings there to worship him, that's not what they're doing. They're trying to improve the lives of the people on this earth.

Yes you can...it's not really cloning. It's like making one from scratch. They start with a single cell and it just grows into the organ. You guys watch the news to much...they talk about all this cloning crap but it's not actually cloning, it's like making a new person artificially. I think it's worse than cloning.

I don't know about cavemen, but what were the ages of people in the B.C. era. and not the 10,000,000 years B.C. era.personally I'm against it

personally I think we need to find something to help the millions of already homeless kids before we decide how to make more from science

Not for it! You can't make a person by science until you understand what you are doing. Anytime you screw with nature, you usually lose. And I don't think that this is a natural scientific event. We have enough crazy people in the world already, can you imagine the personality of a cloned being???

There's only one YOU in the universe, no matter how similar someone might be to you, and while someone might not be a cloned turnout of the exact same person of their model, it's the principle behind it.
Think about this: if we start cloning things, where is the line drawn that says "that's immoral" or "that's not right" for science to do?

You're cloning someone's genes, not their soul.

That's true...I'm going to study up on this subject a bit after class before I post anymore.

Then she wouldn't be producing a child, she would be producing a clone.

Fair enough, but that's a major thing that I'm worried about.

Cloning meat and milk: you almost think that we have to at some point due to increases in population and not enough meat to go around. It may not be a problem right now, but if the population keeps growing, we could run short of food....... I'm fine with that.
Cloning people- only God can create people, if you don't want to think of it like that, only nature can create people. Doctors' healing is a different thing because it's using nature to heal nature. Cloning is creating people through other means that an egg being fertilized in a womb, even if it's done artificially.
What gives us the power to do something that's reserved for God (or nature if you don't believe in God)?
