...If a woodchuck could chuck wood?

It's a question that's been around for ages...

I'm gonna say if a woodchuck could chuck wood, it would chuck about 3 square feet per minute...not alot, but enough...how much do you say?

But I guess you domake a good point...one would think that a woodchuck is something that chucks wood....when it seems a woodchuck really can't chuck wood???

So let's keep it simle with their other name....groundhog 8)

how do you know a woodchuck isn't a machine???? it never says anything about an animal

Wouldn't this also depend on how big the woodchuck was? Lol. 8)

But in all seriousness, the article reports on the work of New York state wildlife expert Richard Thomas, who found that a woodchuck could (and does) chuck around 35 cubic feet of dirt in the course of digging a burrow. Thomas reasoned that if a woodchuck could chuck wood, he would chuck an amount equivalent to the weight of the dirt, or 700 pounds. We are pleased to know this, of course. But it sure isn't easy to fit into a snappy verse.
