To my knowledge SF's freshmen have not played anyone else in the district, I think they are 2-1 on the year so not many game it might be 3-1. they have good gaurd play and shooters but need some help in the lowpost which will come after the county tournament when the 6-7 eight grader move up. They where supposed to play Ac last week but with the snow could not.

I saw a couple of their freshmen play in a JV game early in the season and they can flat shoot the 3's

yeah south floyds freshmen can shoot the 3's.. wesley akers hit 8 the other night against david school. comeing 1 3 shy of tyler halls record. tyler was a senior hitting 9, akers is a freshmen hitting 8. he should have the record b4 hes gone

No wonder he hit 8 threes its the David School.

Posted Mon Jan 24, 2005 1:36 pm:

I think that Prestonsburg has a good Freshman Team. With Taylor Clark at the point has help them alot plus with his ability to shoot the three. Although Hall and Hughes can also shoo the three...they are deadly from behind the arch. Down low you Lafferty who is strong in the post and has a nice jump stop. Nate Stephens helps them with the boards, and has came up with some big shots.

i could see were ur comeing from if he would have shot his arm off and made 8 threes against david but akers went 8-12..thats 67%

Hammerhead#1
01-24-2005, 03:11 PM
I have to agree with you about shooting that high from the three point line. But is shooting everything? I look for Akers to have a good shooting career but what about defense?

Hammerhead, wes is working very hard on the other parts of his game played good def the other night in the jv game against east ridge and is having to handle the ball a little more. Shooting 675 is pretty good and if you watched wes in middle school he would have shot 12 times in the first half so he is working hard and becoming a good little gaurd that will be heard from in years to come.

I think that Sf Freshman team can be strong if they had the rgiht attitude, but the top 58th Freshman team is pburg.

Little J I have a question what about Jordan Hall he use to go to sf now he goes to pburg do u think that he has imroved any?

hippo's hope
01-24-2005, 03:22 PM
The right attitude? They have played 3 games and most of them did not see a lot of court time in the 8th grade. I agree Pburg right now has the top freshmen team but with SF middle going 12-0 in the conference and 15-2 going into the county tournament they will have a good team next year and this years team will be hard to beat at the end of the season. I wish they had the district freshmen tournament again like they did when SF's juniors won it.

Jordan was a decent player last year and I know his family pretty good and Have not got a chance to see him in a game yet to tell you. As everyone knows if it is not a officated game you can not tell how much a kid has improve just by seeing in a pickup game or two. Has jordan grew anymore, the only thing that hurt jordan when he was younger was an attitude if a foul was called against him, if he has controled that he will make a pretty good player.

Yes i have seem him play hes attitude has changed alot, and he has good character...... I think over the years he relized how much his attitude hurt him.

Posted Mon Jan 24, 2005 8:12 pm:

Balla i have to disagree i have looked at the stats and jordan gets at least 6 assist per game.

Betsy Layne's Freshman only beat the David School by 6 points.
It was a very close game until the final minutes of the 4th quarter when B.L pulled away with it. Final Score was 47-41.
Tyler Hamilton had 19 points for the Bobcats.

South Floyd's freshman team beat the David School by 34 at SF. And then beat them 13 at The David School.

Bobcats doesn't have stong defense. They often run a 1-3-1 or a 2-3 which isn't that affective on quicker teams. B.L's center Tyler Hamilton is tough to handle inside.
South Floyd has quick guards and 3 point shooters and are very tough outside.

Thats the only thing wrong with comparing Freshmen teams, because of BL weakness on the varsity at backup center Trey Whit is playing a lot of minutes and doing a fine job and if he was on the freshmen team they would be a lot better. Also because of this I believe Pburg and SF have the upper hand and would be a fun game to watch.

Hammerhead#1

Congrats to pburg on their win.

Haven't herd much about the AC freshman, any good? They were one of the top four teams in the county as 8th graders.

hippo's hope
01-25-2005, 12:14 AM
I do not know much about the AC team but johnny has a 8th grader getting a little minutes here and there. So either the freshmen are weak this year or the 8th grader is a really good player, do not know so do not want to say one way or another.

Dont know about this year ,but South Floyd should have a good Freshmen class coming up next year.

They should if they all play i think the middle school has 12 8th graders.

prestonsburg is a good freshmen team but think about this. most there freshmens are SUPPOSE to be sophmores who should not even be playin freshmen ball. south floyds freshmen team has alot of talent and will be a strong contender come tourny time. next yr sfs freshmen team will be unstoppable!!..the middle school bunch went like 14-2 for the season. plus 6'7 power house devon adams will be a freshmen next yr!

hippo's hope

Devin will be hard to handle but with the Raiders losing Stanley and Little Devin might not see a lot of action on the Freshmen team he might have to play a lot of jv and varsity along with the point gaurd Adam Slone who is 6' and a true pg who looks pass before shoot and that is what SF is lacking.

Showtyme
01-25-2005, 01:06 AM
SF a great freshman team coming next year. The AC 8th grader is actually a hold back and should be a freshman but I have seen him play some and a good player when he wants to be.

Hey J do you know why the adams kid is getting any action this year with the SF freshman and JV, could bennefit from the expirence. I have seen the slone kid and he is a true pg. this might allow aker to move to the 2 spot opening up more shots for this sharpshooter.

South floyds freshmen has some good talent.....They are lackin inside witch devon adams will be playin freshmen ball after this week as will slone....there they will have a deadly startin five wit
pg-adam slone
sg-wes akers a freshmen avergin..24 points agame and out 6 or seven assist
sf- Justin Isaac a under rated freshmen that averges a double double in freshmen play 16 point and 12 steals...this boy is the other sharp shooter for this team
pf- they really dont got one
c- Big Devon adams
so i c them and p-bug in the finals of the freshmen tourney look out sf should win by 10 or more wit the shootin of akers and isaac and the defence of slon and isaac.....

Devin is not playing freshmen and jv this year until after the county tournament. He played freshmen last year in the 7th grade.
Ryan will start next season but devin will have to give some back up minutes to him.
I do not think they are going to have a tournament this year unless they have decided to here lately. but South floyd would stand a great chance, Wes need to get a little more help scoring justin can help but do not think he is averaging those stats. he needs to work a little hard on defense and ethan mullins needs to step up and help when wes is out of the game but with Those two eight graders coming up after the county they will be hard to handle.

live baller
01-25-2005, 12:11 PM
the 6'7 kid will help sf out alot, i watched him play and all he needs is more cordination. but that will come as he ages. the slone kid is a good penatrater but needs to work on his jump shot. little bit of work with these 2 kids and they'll be hard to handle

Hey QQ, Devon Adams is about 6'7" and a legit 8th grader.

If he is 6'7" and he can't play in the 15th region then he must suck!!!

hippo's hope
01-25-2005, 01:11 PM
Devin is 6'6" 1/2 and will turn 14 next month so the cordination should come and with all the summer ball he should be ready to step in nicely.

Yeah I have heard alot about SF's grade school team. I thought they were undefeated, who were their 2 losses? If this kid is 6'7" then after he gets strong he should become the focal point for this team. I remember seeing him when they were honored at half-time of the SF-PBurg game and I thought he was apart of the Coaching Staff.

And as far as who the best freshman team in the 58th is, it is Prestonsburg, we have about 3 or 4 freshmen that should be getting varsity playing time. The Freshmen could beat the Sophomores at Prestonsburg by about 30 or so, and the sophomores have a kid that is 6'5".

01-25-2005, 06:56 PM
I agree that justin has to score more but akers needs t help him out on defence justin has a doubl diget lead on steals on this team but if they workk together theyy ant nobody in this county can stop them

ThE AnSwEr
01-25-2005, 07:44 PM
I agree with you SF fan on how Wes could help Justin out on d but the other night he got into fould trouble and only played about half the game. If he would've played the full game then he would've set a new record for SF on 3's. Isaac is also a good shooter if him and Wes both get hot on one night they will beat any freshmen team in the 58th. The 6'7 kid isnt very good right now, all he can do is block a couple shots so hes no factor. However Adam is a good pg and could really give Wes a break and allow him to score more!

For those talking about SF freshmen by a lot over pburg freshmen and don't remember here is food for thought- Last years Adams team is the freshman team starters at pburg, except T Clark and Sf middle at SF High. Adams defeated SF middle 3 times last year by more than 20 each time. Akers was held to minnimal points in 2 of those games. And now add Clark to Pburg who is a good player on O and D, I think pburg takes sf again.

Showtyme we said those are thebest two in the district I can not remember anyone saying by a lot if they did sorry no direspect to Pburg freshmen they are pretty good.
the AnSwEr the 6'7 kid is good enough to block shots and rebound and on this freshmen team with WEs,Justin,Adam and company that would be all he would have to do. Besides the 3 bigmen on the varsity I would take devin, If it was me after the county he would dress varsity.

J, sffan said sf by 10+. I would tend to agree they are the best two and what great games are coming between the two in the future. Gotta love the 58th.

SF Fan........ JUSTIN ISAAC does not avg. a DOUBLE DOUBLE. Sorry. I would lay money down that he hasnt got 3 steals this whole year. He would be lucky if he scored 10 aganist David the other night.

sffan
01-28-2005, 04:09 PM
i will bet u that.........he might not average that but in 2 games this years he got over 15 steals and averagein 16 points agame he had 15 the other night and 24 the first game they played david and aginst hasard he had 8 goin into the second quarter but he had to leave when he got hert and had to have stiches.........so u can MARCH right back to the next game and watch him........bb
