I didn't go to the game because we had a tournament in Lexington so I don't have any stats.

I think that applies to most average teams! I think the better teams could easily go to Raceland and come out with a victory. It isn't like they are Mason Co. or something. And 11 points isn't a blowout by any means. But in this case the better team won and I'm sure it was not really ever in doubt. Congrats to Valley!

You are right. They are not Mason. They are a small school with just over 300 students. Dont know if game was in doubt, but SV isnt Mason either. SV gets a nice road win. Whether you meant it or not, you sound smug in your post.

Raceland now has a record of 17-9. To get an 11 point win outside your region against a team with a good record is a good win...

Congrats Valley, Raceland is a very tough place to go in and get a win at if you are from out of their region. Good Job.

I think Elisha has finally figured out he needs to start scoring more, last year it went from him getting about 5 points a game to him averaging double digits this year, glad to see this happening.

No problem, my bad! I didn't mean for my post to sound smug at all. Actually I would have been for Raceland if I had attended the game. And as for Raceland's athletics, they are always competitive in basketball and football! But this year, SV is arguably one of the elite 2 of the 15th even though they haven't played great here lately. And SV and Paintsville should be able to go into any 16th Region team's gym and come out with a victory, even against Elliott Co. IMO. So considering that this year, Raceland is only an above average team in the 16th at best, I didn't think that for SV to go into Raceland and come out with a win should be considered such an accomplishment. They went into Ashland and came out with a huge win earlier this year. That is all that I meant. My post was more in response to the SV posters than any type of knock on Raceland. The SV posters make it sound like this year to go to Raceland and win is like going to Mason Co. and pulling an upset. There isn't a team in the 16th Region that SV shouldn't be able to go into this year and win. So that is all that was meant. Sorry if it came across any other way.

How could this be a good win when it is in the weak 16th region where Ellliott County plays. Oh I get it ! Raceland is only a weak team if Elliott Co were playing them!

Seen Elliott County play a lot at home this year have you?

I've seen EC play. Tell me who has been to EC this year that would be considered a quality opponent? However, this is a Raceland/SV thread and I don't want to get off topic debating EC! Are you an EC or Raceland fan or just someone with a different opinion?

Only in reference.
Just to simplify what I am saying for you: SV or Paintsville could go into Raceland and win the game. Even on an off night! SV or Paintsville could go into Elliott Co. and win the game. Only difference with EC is that if EC shot lights out and SV or Paintsville didn't play well, they could lose. Paintsville beat EC last year and Paintsville is much better this year. As for the rest of the 15th vs. 16th it would be wide open. I am not going to go any further with this Elliott Co./SV stuff because this thread is about Raceland and I sure don't have any reason to defend SV on here.

Sounds like Raceland gave SV a better game than most thought they would. JMO

EKY Sportster do you not think Elliott County could also go into SV or Paintsville & get the win?
As far as comparing the 15th & 16th I would have to give the 16th the sight edge.
15th has SV,Paintsville & Pikeville the 16th would have EC, E Carter, Raceland, Rose Hill then I definitely think the next 5 or so in the 16TH is easily better than 4-10 in the 15th. That said these 2 regions need to defend each other & not attack each other because we get enough of that from people down state. 10th, 11th 6th & 7th plus W.Ky area.

First off, let me say that this thread is not the place to bash or to sing the praises of Elliott County. This is to discuss the game between SV and Raceland or one of those two teams.
Now, I will give my opinion. I think this has toi be considered a good win for Valley. According to the Cantrall ratings today, Raceland is rated the fourth-best team in the 16th region, with a rating right around Pikeville's. So I would consider a victory on the road, after traveling a couple hours away to play one of the better teams in that region, a good win.

On a typical night with both teams playing at least average, NO!

But I would have to agree with you that the 16th is better than the 15th top to bottom, but just slightly. And you are right, the 15th and 16th need to back each other. And I think that they do most of the time.
Congrats to Raceland on playing SV close!
