DALLAS (AP)—Dirk Nowitzki started to grab the part of his left leg that hurt the most, then stopped. He might not have known what to rub first.

So the reigning league MVP dejectedly put a hand on his head. Then pounded the court.

Nowitzki was injured on an ugly looking fall in the third quarter of Dallas’ 88-81 loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday, but left the arena without knowing how bad it is. The team termed it a “lower left leg injury” and said more details would come Monday.

This is gonna hurt the Mavs. They are 0-8 against teams with winning records. If they couldn't beat winning teams with Dirk, they aren't gonna win with him on the sidelines. Tough loss.

0-8 since Jason Kidd has been with Dallas. Mavs are falling apart in the most inoppurtune time. Seen on ESPN that Mark Cuban had some heated words with coach Avery Johnson after one of the games. Hard to believe they are 18 games over 500. and in the 7th spot in the everyday changing Western Conference. This is the wackiest I've ever seen a conference in the NBA, seems like there is a new team atop the standings everday.

Seems like it. The Rockets were in the lead a few days ago, lost 2 games, and now they are in 5th place. Gonna be a tight race for 8th place.

They think he will return by playoff time. If they make it to playoffs.

The West is so crazy right now. 1 loss can drop you from 1st place to 5th.
