Lots of walks and errors in this one. Breathitt holds on for a hard fought victory! Breathitt's shortstop Tanner Lawson made a tremendous diving stop to save a run late in the game. Big win for the Bobcat program. Congrats.

I believe Russ Dotson picthed for Powell. And from what a couple of the players told me yesterday, I thought Powell would've beaten them pretty bad. Congrats to Breathitt on a good win and keep your heads up Powell!!

I would have too. This either does one of two things.

Shows how vulnerable Powell County is....or
Shows how dangerous Breathitt County can be.

Right now looking at what all Breathitt has done getting mercy ruled by Estill County, I can't see anyone beating Estill in this region. Powell shouldn't beat Estill. They returned a lot from last year, and Powell lost quite a bit apparently. Good teams don't have days off, and it looks like Powell took a day off to me. I hope they can recover and get through that region. The good thing is, they should get a #2 seed for the district so they should automatically make it to the tournament.

Baseball is all about pitching and match-ups. I would not be surprised to see Powell Co. beat Estill Co. today with Brewer on the hill in a 3-2 ball game. And even if they don't win today, the games at the end of May are the only ones that really count.

Dotson started on the mound. Gave up 5 runs in the first on walks and passed balls. Freshman Morgan Reed came in and threw 5 or 6 solid innings and Josh Rison finished on the mound. A few mental errors at the plate and in the field was the big case in this game for the Pirates. Hopefully they can bounce back and get their heads on straight for Estill. If they don't, it's going to be a long night in Irvine.

Excuse? No excuse here. Estill should have and did beat Breathitt convincingly. As HootOwl said, pitching matchups make all the difference in the world. I'm sure Breathitt couldn't have done much aginst Brewer or Estill's #1.

I think Powell did take a night off. They are a very good team when they are clicking right.

It sounds like Powell could be one of those teams who are good, but only depending on who is on the mound. A lot of people have more confidence in themselves when they have more confidence their pitchers on the mound.

You got a good point and I also think that is what they are. They are alot better when certain pitchers are on the mound.
