I'd say most have seen the previews of this movie on TV but if you haven't here is the link to the full trailer. This looks like a legit scary movie and I watched this whole trailer last night around 2:30 and it scared me to death.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x1TBlPelvbE
IMO the scariest part is around the 0:41 to 0:45 second mark where Liv Tyler is standing there by herself and you will see the rest! Some good stuff!

I really want to see this movie. The trailer says it's "based on true events" but it's actually not based on any one, single event.
The director said it was more of a combination of events that have happened in the past, some inspired by the Manson killings, some things drawn from others.
So it's not specifically based on any true event, but inspired by several events that have happened. Of course they just throw "based on true events" to make it seem even scarier.
But yes, I will see this movie, it does look scary, probably because the killers are wearing those creepy masks, and that they are terrorizing the family "just because." If you notice at the end of the trailer she asks "Why are you doing this?" and one replies "Because you were home."
So it's just a senseless act of violence, "because they were home." Could happen to anyone and I think that's what makes this one scary.

Yeah that was another part that freaked me out that was at the end of the trailer. I agree with you to that something like this could happen to anyone and thats what makes is a scary movie. Looking forward to seeing this.

Not watching this movie. I would die from fright right there. Movies like this make me so paranoid. I'm still recovering from some I've seen, haha.
I'm going to sue them so they'll have to pay for my therapy, lol

Whenever I saw the trailer to this on tv, it was about 1 a.m. and I was the only one awake. Plus, it was dark. But after I saw it, I kept looking outside to make sure they weren't there. My dog only barks if something is outside. And it started barking!! I was so scared, lol.

Well I went and watched it last night and needless to say it was scary as heck! It didn't have very much gore to it as most horror movies do now a days. It had a lot of very scary parts that just makes you jump out of your seat. I thought it was an awesome movie but some will probably differ, but it wouldn't hurt to go see it!

I like putting masks like that on and going for a walk. Hook the 1986 walkman on your belt loop, throw in a Debbie Gibson cassette, my "My mommy says Im special" t-shirt and the mask and Im good to go...

I was disappointed. I didn't think it was as scary as it could be. It was weird, no doubt, but scary. It was an okay movie, but not as good as I expected it be.

I thought this was a great movie, with a lot of "jumpy" parts. I thought it was pretty scary just for the fact that it was so random along with the reality of it. Could happen to anybody, and sometimes does. Fresh breath of air for me compared to many other movies made in the last 10 years. Leaves a lot of room for interpretation which I liked.

I finally saw this movie and liked it. I'm glad there wasn't a bunch of gore and crazy-looking monsters because that's becoming overdone in horror films.
Like most of you have said, it was scary because it is something that seems like could happen to any of us.

I saw the movie last night, and loved it. It is one of those movies that make you ache inside the entire time. I guess, like most have said on here, what makes it so scary is the randomness of it and the fact that it could actually happen to anyone. My girlfriend jumping around and screaming was as scary as the movie, not to mention that she almost kicked the guy in front of us in the head during one scary scene.

I am still amazed the level of stupidity of the people in the movies lol. They always do three things no normal person would do:
1. Split up- I mean seriously, what good does that do? NONE, other than get someone killed.
2. Hear something and feel compelled to walk towards it- RUN AWAY. If a noise is unusual enough for you to notice it, it probably isn't a good thing.
3. Being sidetracked by the death of a loved one or friend- Think about it once you know you are still alive. It does no good, not reloading your weapon or freaking out.
Other than that I love those kind of movies.

Why is it when someone is being chased they run upstairs instead of out the front door that they are 5 feet from?

I wouldnt go that far. But it definately wasn't that good either. It had alot of potential, but it wasn't very realistic, really. No one acts that stupid. It's possible some freaks could come to your door like that, but anyone with a half a brain wouldn't have been that stupid. Why didn't the neighbors take a hint? Anyone within half a mile could hear the car wreck, the explosion of the car blowing up, the smoke, etc. It was just your average silly stuff that ruins a movie and makes it unrealistic. It was waaaay too Halloween-ish for me, too. Man in white mask staring in the background at his victim, hearing the breathing in the mask. I was very disappointed.
