Its going to be interesting especially after whats happened so far this off-season. Its honestly a toss up right now really between all four teams. If Allen Central had a guard with experience I'd put them at number 1 but they don't really have any true players that can come in and play good at the guard spot. The 58th is going to be really weak this year, they're gonna have some really good players just not teams that can contend with the Shelby Valley.

In no order...

Prestonsburg - They bring back one of the better players in the region in junior-to-be, Michael Burchett, they also return Jody Tackett, Austin Gearheart, Steven Patrick, and Seth Setser. Expect players like Cameron Tincher and Tyler Hall to step in and play huge rolls next season, both led the JV last season in scoring.

Allen Central - The Runnin' Rebs return juniors-to-be Logan and Hunter Crowder from the starting lineup, I've heard rumors that senior Josh Prater will not be playing next season due to personal issues. They should have some players step up but I didn't really get to see any of them come off the bench last season.

South Floyd - The Raiders return just about the whole team besides Wes Akers. Turner, Hall, Tommy Joe, Paige, and Mitchell return for the Raiders, those should be there top players.

Betsy Layne - The Bobcats lost alot to graduation, they'll return Tibbs, Head, and Maldanaldo. Those three should be there top returning players.

Top returning players...

Michael Burchett - Prestonsburg
Jody Tackett - Prestonsburg
Logan Crowder - Allen Central
Hunter Crowder - Allen Central
Josh Head - Betsy Layne
Bryant Tibbs - Betsy Layne
Shannon Turner - South Floyd
Tommy Joe Hall - South Floyd

I don't actually see any of these teams competing with Valley for region, but hopefully one of them will step up to the challenge.

South Floyd will have 9 seniors this comming season and 4 Juniors and 2 Sophomores and 1(maybe more) Freshman and all of them have experience...so im not saying that they will be the best in the district but they will be mediocre like all the other teams in the 58th..also they have been working on there own for about 2-3 months trying to get stronger and improve any way that they possibly can....

SF- returns like 14 out of 15 and add Tommy Joe Hall who didnt play at all last season...I like the list of players, but Tommy Joe hasn't played since his freshman year, but should give the Raiders some help they didn't have last season.

BL- Dont forget about Adam Slone and Nathan Martin, they should be some big contributors to the success of BL next season...Bryant Tibbs didn't do all to well last season, but i see him having a decent year, next season.

AC- Josh Prater will play i'd say...but it wont be before the season starts or anything....So, he should be able to play...

Prestonsburg- will be strong and athletic as always, but scoring could be an issue...Burchett and Tackett will have to provide half the points probably.

I agree with your observation... I certainly believe that Tommy Joe will be a very, very good player for South Floyd. I forgot about Martin and Slone for the Bobcats, and from what I'm hearing, Prater's parents are not letting him suit up next season.

Tommy Joe will be a good player, I wouldn't say very good right away, could be when he gets back in the groove...He won't need to be great, because SF will be a better T.E.A.M. next season...I hope Prater gets to play his senior year, but you also gotta own up to your responsibilities in life..

Praters personal issues shouldn't be discussed on here, but about him playing, he is unsure right now, and to say his parents aren't letting him play, that is not true, it is josh's decision. I am very close to josh and hope he plays, i guess we'll see next season

Your right, his personal issues shouldn't be discussed publicly, but I'm just posting what I've heard... take it for what its worth.

Sorry if any of the posts in this thread offend anyone, if they do stop and send me a pm.

I thought Bryant did very good last year considering his limited playing time. BL will have the best big man next year in Josh Head who from what iv hear has been working out hard. BL has some talented players if the coach was smart enough to play them.

Im sure you do think he did well, considerin your from BL...Josh Head will be the second best big man in the 58th next year judging by last yr., Logan Crowder from AC is the best returning Big Man.

You might mean Hunter Crowder from AC. Logan Crowder played forward/guard last season.

Power Forward and Center are the post positions...AC's guards and small forwards where Hammonds, Crum, Prater, and Cole...Their post players where the Crowders and Turner...Only 7 players played the majority of minutes last season and Logan Crowder couldn't have been and definitely was not a guard or small forward. I remember one of the Crowders being the PF and the other being the Center.

I agree with this post. Both Head and Crowder did a great job as the big man, therefore i think Pburg and SF have some major work and readjusting ahead of them if they want a "big man" in the game next season. . To me a "big man" watches the other 9 on the floor and knows when and where he needs to be at all times, not just running to his post hoping to catch a pass and hit the 2. But honestly going out of the 58th...I think Adams from Pikeville is the best "big man" I have seen in a long time. I do expect Adams to make it to D1.

Well, Prestonsburg has big men, Seth Setser, Austin Gearheart, and Steven "Tayshaun" Patrick. Each have different capabilities, Setser with strength, Gearheart with the leaping ability & shot blocking, and Patrick with shot blocking. All 3 are very good rebounder's. Each of those players will be very good next season as Jack Pack should bring the best out of them. As for South Floyd, Cory Paige was just a sophomore last season, he should be ready to be able to compete with other big men in the district and region next season, so don't overrate Josh Head, who isn't as good as your putting him out to be. He may be tall and have the ability to dunk but he isn't very strong, and he isn't very consistent on the offensive end. The Crowder's and the boys from Prestonsburg are much more physical than him, Head is good but not that good.

Stumbo and Hall actually led JV in scoring last year for Pburg. Both averaged around 18ppg. Not trying to be smart just letting you know lol. And like you mentioned about AC i dont see them having a bench at all next season. IMO its a toss up again.

As a teammate of logan this year, logan played the 3 spot which is small forward. He will most likely be that again next year also. Our guards were Alex Hammonds and Aaron Crum, and Logan was the 3, Prater was the 4, and Hunter was the 5. Robbie came in and played either the 1,2, or 3, and Clinton Turner came in and played the 4,5 spots.

Well Logan did most of his work down-low, Prater shot alot of 3's...I didn't see Josh Prater post up that much and I watched AC play quite a bit. I've always heard don't be a number, be a player. With that said, Logan Crowder is a Post Player, most of his points were scored from 10ft. and in. Prater is more of a slasher, spot up shooter, and penetrator. Logan and Hunter was AC's inside pres. last season and will be the same this upcoming season.
