Why are you a Democrat or Republican?

In the other thread you have the chance to post your affliation but my question is why do you choose the party you do?

My grandmother would have disowned me!! She talked pretty bad about my uncle (her oldest son) after he married and switched parties.

i am what i am because of where i grew up. one party helps while the other could care less. had i grown up elsewhere i might feel different.
