From what I heard from the stands, not sure it if is true or not, but heard he broke his arm in the 1st quarter.

Okay now to write about the game.
Ashland 35
Boyd 8

BC took the ball and drove deep before nearly scoring before the Tomcat goal line defense ruined their plans. On their first series Ashland punts. Boyd County throws an interception deep in their own territory and Ashland capitalizes and goes up 7-0. Next possession BC is forced to punt. Ashland takes over on the BC 45 after a good return. First play from scrimmage, Ian Holbrook hits Angel Gurule for a 45 yard TD strike in the endzone. Tomcats go up 14-0. End of the 1st quarter. BC throws another pick on their first possession of the 2nd quarter. Ashland capitalizes again and goes up 21-0. On their next possession, BC is stopped on 4th and short and Tomcats take over. Ashland drives before sophmore RB Matt Thomas scores from around 25 yards out on Counter Trap. 28-0 Tomcats. On the last possession of the half BC marches within an inch of scoring making it 1st and goal from the inch line. The stellar Ashland goal line defense holds as BC throws an incomplete 4th down pass as the half ends. 28-0 Tomcats at the half. Ashland grinds the ball in the 3rd quarter as they use close to 7 minutes of the clock and score again to go up 35-0. BC drives again but once again is snubbed by the Ashland D deep into Tomcat territory. Ashland plays their starters until the end of the 3rd quarter. Ashland starters play 1 play in the 4th quarter and fail on a 3rd down conversion attempt. Ashland punts and 2nd team comes in for the Tomcats. The 1st team BC offense is able to drive down the field to score on a Brennan Sargent run. Two Point conversion is successful. 35-8 Tomcats. Ashland's 2nd team offense runs out the clock after a first down for the victory.

This was a very emotional and physical game. There were numerous personal fouls, late hits, and unsportsmanlike conduct penalties called on both teams. Not sure if this is true or not, but heard that BC QB Luke Moore broke his arm in the 1st quarter. The Ashland D carried the team to another victory. The offensive line played the best that they have all season and the running game looked good. RB Matt Thomas had his best night of the season. FB Tyler Reliford also played extremely well. QB Ian Holbrook stood as a man among boys as he has most of the season and "guided the ship" as he would say.

Individual accomplishment of the night goes to Angel Gurule. Gurule broke 2 Tomcat Single Season Records. He broke the catches in a season mark and the receiving yards in a season mark. Congrats to Angel, a great player and an even better person.

Boyd was eliminated from the playoffs when Lawrence defeated Greenup.
Ashland will play host to Clay County in the 1st round of the playoffs as they make their way to Putnam Stadium.

BC qb broke his thumb and the bone broke through the flesh. way to go tomcats! and boyd does not go to the playoffs due to GC's lost. :)
