True, but if you were to watch one of JC's game films, you would see that 95% of Blume's fumbles come from lack of concentration. (dropped pitch or not securing the ball fully after a cut)

I think sometimes small runningbacks are overlooked. A lot of college coaches seem to think size matters, and in some cases it does, and some cases it doesn't. But really, it's all about who gets the job done. I think that some of the smaller backs that have played (Josh Gross, Shaun Robbins, Ron Blume, among others), could be solid players at the divison 1 level.

Ladainian Tomlinson is 5'10" and 220... I don't consider that small, he is the stereotype pro running back, and **** good at what he does.

yeah but hes also supposed to be about a JR this year too. not very fair in my book. a 16 year old frosh is probably gonna stick out as being good, but its just because the others havent matured as much as he has yet. they wille ventually catch up with him and slow him down.

"about a Jr..." ???

What does that mean?

If he were SIXTEEN as a Jr., that would not be "fair" to HIM since he'd be a 17-yr-old Sr. competing against 18 and 19 year olds.

The rules say you can play HS ball as long as you're 18 or younger before Sept. 1.

Why wouldn't ANY parent allow their kid to be as mature as possible and have the best possible chance as a Senior -- older, more physically mature, more emotionally mature.

It would only be "unfair" if he (or any other holdback) were doing something against the rules.

What you don't like is that it's not EQUAL. But don't confuse "fair" with "equal;" they are two TOTALLY different things!

No offense fox, I know you know football but I can't agree with this statement. Just look at it. Rarely do you see a small back take a beating and it do damage on him. The backs that come to mind when you talk about taking beatings, Jerome Bettis and Eddie George. Rarely do you see anyone get an explosive hit on a smaller back. George's career ended early due to his physical status, Sanders' career ended early because he felt he'd accomplished enough.

Im a big running back and one of my friends thats my running partner never gets hit because he has the speed to run away from defenders while big backs(like me) take the beating because there normally slower and more physical!!!:thumb:

that's my job

roskopf from lynn camp is only a soph. and is one of hte best in the moutains. i think he is newayz

FranciScottKey
01-13-2006, 11:08 PM
anyway not to be direspectful but there were people pushing colby when it took five people to take himm down he didny do it on his strength alone there were others i believe it was #23 B.Stephens that was pushing him along so lets not make that reference to him being able to drag five people or even being able to stand up aginst five guys.remember no disrespect just wanna clear that up.

Josh Gross from Russell last year was and still is a great back. He runs a 4.30 -40 and had 43 TD last year for Russell I think he finished with over 2000 yards. He had 200 yards in a loosing effort against Belfry last year. Tough Kid. He is playing for Georgetown and will probably be their starting running back this coming year. I will be traveling to watch him play. He was 5'8" and 185 last year. I hear that he is about 195-200 now and still runs at this speed. Now Clark isn't as fast as Josh this year but he has the size, He should fill out around 6'2" and around 220 this coming year.

Well, i dont know hardley anything about the small running backs in KY but has anybody ever heard of a running back that is 6'2 and weighs 225 and runs a 4.6 40 and is a 1700 yrd rusher? Anyways, if I had to pick a really good small running back, it would probably have to be Travis Bartley. I dont know his stats but from what i have heard, he is a very fast RB

Street Carp
03-03-2006, 08:43 PM
Joe Roskopf of lynn camp is probably the best small running back i've seen... he has great talent ...he is fast and you cant ask much more... i say his numbers will be in the 1,000s this year
