I hope Paintsville wins but I think Somerset will be too much at home after seeing what they did to Pikeville tonight. Whoever wins this game, gets to receive a pounding from NCC.

I see Somerset winning also. Would love to see the Tigers pull off the upset. Somerset beat a good Pikeville team. Congrads on a great season Panthers and good luck to the tigers and briar jumpers next weekend.

Paintsville CAN win this game. They have to play 4 quarters instead of just 1 or 2 like they did against Pikeville nad Lynn Camp.
By the way the winner might be playing Lex. Christian instead of NCC. LCA beat Beechwood pretty good tonight.

My heart says Paintsville but my head thinks Somerset... it should be a very good game, especially if the Tigers play defense like they did again Hazard and offensively like they did against Evart (which is highly unlikely)... nonetheless, good luck to the Tigers and if Somerset wins, I will be cheering for them the rest of the way !!!

I'm all for a half day of school and loading up the pep buses for a trip to Somerset. C'mon Coach Vanhoose what'd you say?? But I say only a half day if you get a number in mind to sign up for the trip.

I think Paintsville will win this one. It definitely wont be the first time they are underdogs in a region championship game thats for sure, and I think this team will step up like we did in the 2001 game.

If you think Somerset will play you like Evarts did, save your admission and gas money and listen to the game on the radio, because it will definitely make the game easier on you to not see it. A lot of posters have seen Somerset and Paintsville play, so they are making honest predictions. Somerset will be way too quick for Paintsville to contend with on both sides of the ball, especially after something like 5 hours on a bus. I live closer to Somerset than Paintsville, but I could care less. Honesty says Somerset WILL dominate, BMR will end his season on the road. Somerset 41 paintsville 18.

Calm down now...These are just the opinions of each poster and we need to respect that. Many of the people that said Somerset would win are from the Paintsville area. The Jumpers have been predicted all season to win the region. These people are just stating what they believe to be true and you don't agree. Post what you think, but don't go attacking people please.

Sounds like some of the predictions made for last week. If im not mistaken, didnt Somerset just beat Lynn Camp by one point? If Paintsville wouldnt have had a bad second half, i would have to say that Lynn Camp would have to say that the score of the Lynn camp came wouldnt have been that close.

I've seen both teams more than once.
Paintsville's Pugh is a great ATHLETE but Deaton from Somerset is the best QB I have seen this year.
Somerset by three touchdowns on a dry field...a wet field makes it closer.

It's been a good run by the Tigers... but their pilgrimage to Somerset will not be fulfilling. Somerset is a mirror image of the Pikeville team that just beat Paintsville...except slightly better at every position.

The Tigers have a long road trip, they'll probably have to leave right after they get some lunch. I agree, Paintsville's crowds have been a big disappointment Hazard comes to mind, this game comes to mind as well. I want to see a crowd like the one that traveled to Pikeville or was at the Prestonsburg game or heck even the Apple bowl make the long haul. If Lynn Camp can bring that type of fan support, it should be a challenge to Paintsville. The best way I can think of doing so is with a little bribery for the half a day of school if enough students sign up to go to the game. With high school kids a little reward goes a long way, c'mon fans and students a like let's get behind the Tigers and get a big caravan to head down to the briar patch for this big game. I want to the Seniors and Juniors to put some weight on their shoulders this week, when they were freshmen and sophomores this Somerset team was the guys who introduced them to the high school playoffs royally.

Paintsville suprised me last night. If Paintsville can play a mistake free game meaning no turnovers or costly pen. and give Pugh time to throw IMO they stand a good chance of winning in a close one.

We played for crap in the 1st half on both sides of the ball, so Paintsville never really saw what we had been able to do all year. Hard to compare the Somerset and Paintsville games we played based on how we played last night, you beat us by 1 and so did Somerset, but the Jumpers are a whole different animal. They will not have a letdown. Not attacking anyone, but I still don't think, after seeing both teams against us, that there is anyway that Paintsville will have the time to try and pick the Jumpers apart like they did us in the first half. Paintsville has an explosive offense, but Somerset does, too and is a couple of players better at it. Somerset will have Pugh constantly on the run and P'ville will not be quick enough to contain Newell, Deaton and company. They are quicker than Lynn Camp and LC gave Paintsville fits in the 2nd half. Long trip for a long face. Somerset takes the region.

Like I said Daddy Cat, I've been disappointed in Paintsville's crowd a few times this season. A lot of Paintsville's faithful prefer to stand on the railings, I guess because they feel confined in the stands. Last night was not a bad crowd for Paintsville but it seemed the Camper fans were more numerous and made a lot more noise. As for the PA guy, I'm pretty sure when we're on the road he's the mascot. He does a good job at that as well.

Sounds good to me but then you'll have kids there who don't want to be there. That only concerns me because they may be distracted by other things such as being troublesome. I don't care either way, I just think the Tigers need to be supported. They made it this far, and the true fans along with the students should be there backing them 100%. I was very impressed by the entourage the Campers brought and how enthused they were to be there watching two good teams get in a Cat fight. :lmao:

paintsville is capable of putting plenty of points on the scoreboard, this one will be a shootout, anything can happen in this type of game, so i will say paintsville pulls the shocker and comes back home with a HUGE (but close) win!!! good luck paintsville play it like its your last one, cause it very well may be!

ANYTHING can happen under the lights, but it won't this week. We lost to Paintsville by 1 and we lost to Somerset by 1. We played a full game against Somerset, we played half a game against Paintsville. There is no comparisson. Somerset is way too fast. LC held Paintsville to almost no yards in the 2nd half and Somerset WILL NOT have an off night on defense. Still don't think Paintsville has seen ANYTHING like The Bunnies speed this year. Get ready for a long night!!!!:mad:

Paintsville played conservative in the 2nd half and it almost bit them... but it doesn't matter now... they beat LC, and the task at hand is Somerset... Coach Runyon will have them prepared... and if they play like they did against Prestonsburg/Hazard/Pikeville(minus 3rd quarter when Hans got hurt)/Evarts/Lynn Camp its gonna be a great game...

Yeah and Blume also lit Paintsville up. By no means am I saying that the Tigers can't handle the team speed, and to be honest I haven't seen enough of the Jumpers to make that kind of assumption. Instead of naming all those games some of which you could subtract quarters from also, how about just saying put together a game for all 4 quarters. The closest that comes to mind is the Hazard game with the exception of that one I've not seen the Tigers put together 4 quarters this season.

I dont care how much "bulletin board material" this gives your boys. Ive watched both teams play Pikeville and Somerset is quite a bit better from what Ive seen. They were able to move up and down the field running and passing, holding Pikeville to what was it around 150 yards. Paintsville did no where near that. Paintsville wasnt able to adjust to Pikeville when they changed plays but Somerset was. Somerset has the speed and talent to possibly give Newport Catholic, who I predict to win region 3, a good game.

THANK YOU, at least someone knows how we feel about this game....we want this game so bad....i swear its going to be wild friday night....I've been a tiger for 2 years now.....and I'm out for the season do to infections of Staff and Shingles........but I know how my guys feel about this weeks game, and yes i've heard the hares are pretty good but **** we've changed alot sence from last year....but im going to say

Just like I said in my first post and what Mojo has been saying, the Tigers haven't played a full game yet. If they don't Friday night, they will get :Hammer3: :Hammer3: :Hammer3: . I like the new look of the offense, except when Pugh is running the other way and for his life. If Pugh finds the receivers and the seams, then the Tigers will do okay, as long as they do it for 4 quarters.
Put 4 quarters together and the Tigers just might win the region. They have NO chance if they don't play 4 quarters.
