Well just as I expected my car insurance skyrocketed so when I get better and I get another car I have to get a job because I'm responsible for paying my car insurance. Where is somewhere a 17 year old can work in the Pikeville/Prestonsburg area...I prefer Prestonsburg so if I get caught in snow or bad weather I can go to my aunt's or if I have to work late. If you all know of any places where I could get an afterschool job please post them...I don't care where it is...I've already decided if I can't find anything except fast food I'd rather work at Wendy's...lol...but if you all know ANY places that would hire me PLEASE let me know!!!!

I know a guy that is Superintendent of a prep plant. But you would have to get your surface card. He is the camp host a Dewey Lake. Great guy. Would probably help you out. Hard work but good pay.

ACS in Pikeville is hiring... not sure about Prestonsburg, I can check around.. you could go to the unemployment office to see also

Crossbones what is a surface card??? I'm up for anything as long as I can get enough to pay my insurance...what is the pay?

Can't work at Wal Mart at 17...gotta be 18....
If I was at work and it started snowing I wouldn't go anywhere...I'd call...lol...

It is a certification you have to have to work around a Surface coal operation. Very easy test given by the Department of Mines and Mineral. It would have to be a second shift job, correct? I would say around $8 to $10/hour. Thats what we usually paid when I would hire for an outside job. I just noticed you said you were 17, how long before your 18. You have to be 18 to work in or around a coal operation.

Most of the area coal companies help younger people with jobs while they are in school. Just something to think about.
We use to hire kids (no offense, I'm getting old) all the time when they were 18 and 19 for underground positions. I would train them and off they went making $$$$$$. Some were making up to $18/hour.

My birthday is in March so... but then I could work at Wal Mart which would be perfectly fine by me...I just need something to take me thru Jan and Feb and first part of March

My dad works at the new Food City in Prestonsburg so I can't work at that one but he could possibly help me out with one at the old one which would be fine by me.
JC PENNEY'S, JC PENNEY'S! I looooooved working at JC Penney's in Pikeville! Canton Lafferty was my manager, great guy. Put me down as a reference, he loves me! haha.

LOL....I'll end up working in Prestonsburg...Mom is going to pay my insurance for January and Febuary and after my birthday I gotta get a job so maybe Wal Mart...lol...plus I'm more than likely going to PCC next year so I might as well go ahead and get a job in Prestonsburg that way I don't have to switch jobs.
I thought you were coming to EKU?!?!?! U, BALLA, 15TH, and TRIBE ARE ALL LIARS! hehe

Walmart in paintsville will hire school kids, and if your dad works at food city you can too as long as you dont work as the same thing. umm you can also go to this web site www.ajb.org and you can search all the jobs in whatever you want. Try all the grocery stores, big lots, and the movie stores, anything you can think of the more apps. you have in the better your chance to get a job!
If you plan on goin to PCC or Mayo letme know and i can help you earn some big bucks and get a good discount on your books!

Balla goes to PCC right now and she doesn't get financial aid or any scholarship other than KEES so if you could help her out she'd appreciate it also!

DT.. you could get a job at the college when you go there... a lot of my friends do and they seem to like it and they get discounts on their books and other things
The job only last a few weeks months' top but it will give you the oppurtinuty to make some money and save alot on ur books... umm to find out more send me a msg or something. Balla Msg me too cuz you could prolly get some discounts on your books for next semester
