But we have to face ther fact that Pikeville is almost guarenteed, with the talent they have, to possibly take another region title next year. however, there would be much rejoicing if weston robinson were to transfer to team up with varney. central could easily become a power house with a few transfers. i dont see it happening though..

I wasnt' really referring to the juniors and seniors, I was talking about would we be seeing more of the younger players come to Central from middle school, or possible freshmen transferring. I mean if Robinson were to transfer he probably wouldn't get to play anyway because of the KHSAA guidelines.

Those poor little "hole in the wall" children at Pike Central would just love the mere chance to participate in a football contest with the likes of those football juggernauts that have...what's that sound..I.. think... its a county school slowly getting ready to pounce on the ever weakening panther. Actually Somerset is a good team and better than most teams in Pikeville's district. Pikeville was just a very good team last year. You talk about Pikeville moving to 2A and being hard for them. Well of course it would they dont have as many kids as 2A school like PC. If Pikeville had enough kids to be in 2A, we would be just as good as we are in 1A. The more kids in your school, the more available options for players at different positions you have.

But right now Pikeville is a much better team than Central, but Coach Mac might be able to turn them around after a few years.

thank you for an intelligent post...the point is these other schools have the same number of students as Pikeville yet Pikeville still dominates... give the number of kids PC has to more hometown pikeville kids and i'm sure we'd compete for a region championship in AA...bias? maybe a lil, but its just cause i saw pikeville play every game last year and know how good they can be... somerset is a good team with a very talented running back and i doubt central could beat them...it woould have been close but in 02 yall wouldnt have had a chance with somerset...the team has its ups and downs, but the region overall is very challenging...excluding gimme wins like jenkins and phelps...

Coach Mac is not near the Coach that Coach Howard is but I see what you saying about it being the same situation. I may be in the minority but I am excited to see Pikeville get a new coach that can lead them back to Louisville, which I am not sure they have now. I really hope that they don't hire within the current system because IMO there is no one there that can lead them back to Louisville.

PC will not get transfers, this is just wishful thinking. No one transferred when Pikeville's greatest coach ever, Howard, went to SV. WHY?? Because Pikeville is full of tradition. More tradition than any other football program in the mountains. They know that when they play for Pikeville they are going to be in the playoffs every year working towards another state championship.

And BTW, get your facts straight. PC didn't steal McNamee away. He is pretty much being forced out of Pikeville.

I agree CTD you can't go by common scores. If you want to say that Pburg would have killed Pikeville after the first 2 weeks the same could be said for Pike Central and South Floyd. I believe PC got worse as the year went on(though I admit I didn't follow them close)and that I know SF got better as the year went on. I don't remember the score of the Pikeville-SF game but I say QQ does because he was there. You seem to have enough common knowledge about high school sports to know that Pike Central couldn't play with Pikeville in football. I really wish Pikeville would put them on the schedule just one year, but I don't see that happening. I hope you guys get your football program turned around....I root for all Pike County Schools. If anything the Pikeville program has gone down since Coach Mac took over...I wouldn't expect great things from him at Pike Central, though I hope I am wrong.

I don't need a explanation but if you can answer my question that would be great. That is pretty impressive if the Central offense put up two points on Belfry...may be the first time in the history of football.



I dont' remember what the score of the P.C. vs P'burg game was, but it was bad. They got blown out. But the thing is, you can't really judge teams by other scores, that was what I was trying to point out. Cause

P.C. got killed by P'burg
P'burg got shutout by Pikeville
Pikeville got shutout by Belfry
Belfry beat P'burg twice, in two extremely exciting games
Then Belfry killed Central
Central beat SF by 20 and didn't play their starters from the 3rd quarter on.
I don't remember the score to the SF vs. Pikeville game, but if i remember it was a pretty good game.

Now if we go by all this than it would look like Pikeville would be the favorite by just a few points, but like a few people have said, you can't go on common games.

I agree CTD you can't go by common scores. If you want to say that Pburg would have killed Pikeville after the first 2 weeks the same could be said for Pike Central and South Floyd. I believe PC got worse as the year went on(though I admit I didn't follow them close)and that I know SF got better as the year went on. I don't remember the score of the Pikeville-SF game but I say QQ does because he was there. You seem to have enough common knowledge about high school sports to know that Pike Central couldn't play with Pikeville in football. I really wish Pikeville would put them on the schedule just one year, but I don't see that happening. I hope you guys get your football program turned around....I root for all Pike County Schools. If anything the Pikeville program has gone down since Coach Mac took over...I wouldn't expect great things from him at Pike Central, though I hope I am wrong.

Finally, we can get a discussion instead of an arguement lol..

I agree with ya, they didn't get better as the season went along, and I agree that they can't play with Pikeville year in and year out. All I was saying is that last year I think the game had potential to be closer than what everyone is saying. I mean anything can happen.. It could have been a blowout or it could have been a pretty good game. No one will ever really know.
