Betsy Layne...THe Maldnado kid is great and just in 7th grade...love to see him play for AC in high school...Johnny Martin would treat him like gold...he is almost as good as me when i played at Wayland.

they did because of his age...my grandson plays AAU with him and they said he would have been just turning 17 graduating if they didn't hold him back....so now he is in his right grade and still one of the youngest in his class
Maldonado is a hold back. But sorry- he is not one of the youngest in his class. Dylan turned 13 in either August or September. As a seventh grader (again) he is actually one of the oldest in his class.
And by the way King Kelly- or who ever you are (impersonating the king isn't cool by the way)- King Kelly's grandchildren don't even live around here. You may want to do a little more research on "yourself" before you start talking.

Dylan Maldonaldo is not that good. Betsy Layne played adams last night and he wasnt even the best player in the game let alone the best on his team.:rock:

Middle School is where you are suppose to learn the fundamentals to carry you on to High School. So yeah who cares about Middle School Basketball??? It only helped every High School player who ever played the game...

it's a shame sometime middle school coachs dont understand the big picture which is the development of the player that is most important.
The better programs seem to work together running the same type X's and O's, this is seen best in the sport of football.

Good point Doc. Football does seem to have the head coach involved quite a bit with the younger players development into his system. I am sure that some of the basketball coaches on the high school level have input on how their type of game is taught to the middle school. It would make it alot easier for the kids to step into a high school program and not have to be taught everything.

I'm guessing the players, parents and fans of middle school teams care. I've been to the last 3 Floyd County Middle School County Tournaments. In 2003- the gym at Adams was filled to capacity to see ACMS and Adams play for the C team championship and ACMS and MCA play for the A team championship. In 2004 it was standing room only at ACMS to see MCA and BLES battle for the championship. In 2005 JMS hosted the tourney and a capacity crowd watched as ACMS and SFMS played for the title.
Evidently, somebody somewhere cares about middle school ball.
Who won the BLES vs. Adams game?

Well I don't care about none of the players right now because, they are not worth watching. The last middle school game I attended all I saw were a couple of selfish players shooting their arms off trying to outscore each other, much like some high school teams.
We all understand that you don't care about Middle School ball. That of course is your opinion and you are entitled to it. So I suggest you stay out of middle school gyms and off of middle school threads. That way you won't be bothered with any of this "middle school" selfishness.

After watching Virgie's middle school play several times and Betsy Layne's varsity tonight I think I'd bet on Virgie.

Virgie is tough again this season. I haven't seen Betsy Layne play yet, but even if they are very good, I don't see them competing with Virgie.

He scored just enough to help his team win the county tourney... What you need to be asking, is how many points the other teams scored over him? Or better yet, tried to score over him? But tell us all this, what is your big grudge against him? Did he block your shot? Take your playing time? Your county championship last year? Or your spotlight last year? You got a grudge against him for some reason....
