Josh Martin from AC can't dunk the ball "in game", which is pretty much useless. Not knockin him or anything, but if you can't dunk in game, you might as well not! LOL Jamie McCarty was a great dunker but I just wonder if the broken foot will change this.

yeah rosco the broken foot Mccarty suffered will affect his dunking abilities.....but i was watchin the center Martin from AC and he can get up dotnt get me wrong....but he is just a lil bit short of puttin it down....if he could get his legs stronger he will be slammin in no time!

What do you consider dunking in a game, someone that dunks in warm-ups or someone that throws them down in the game. because from what i have seen over the last 5 years, i can think of may 4 kids that have put them down during game play, including a kid playing jv ball

Hey, I was watching a practice for the blackcats the other day and I saw the Patton kid throw a tip slam down, he was throwin it to himself off the rim but it was impressive. Next year he should be throwin it down like crazy in games too!

I saw Jamie McCarty throw down a great break-away dunk as a sophomore last year for Johnson Central! So he has to be considered.

Wes Helton for Magoffin County has been dunking in warm ups since his freshman season. This year he has gone for a dunk in a scrimmage game and in the Betsy Layne game. He was fouled both time to prevent the dunk.

Which reminds me, McCarty's dunk was without any defenders around. Still, it was a great throw down!

As far as dunking in warm ups, I'd be surprised if any team doesn't have at least one player that can do that.

Next year anyone might be able to dunk it. Were focusing on right now redbleeder and right now we have less than 5 dunks probably in a game in the last 2 years. Warmups don't matter, practice dont matter, no practice or warmup points count in your stats so neither does the dunks.

For SC Shaun Johnson is throwing down easy as well as Juan Torrez is throwing down easy. Steven Goble is throwing down pretty good and BMay can get one down every once in a while. My boy was throwing down easy the last 2 years but did a couple too many 12 oz curl this summer and has put on 10 or 15 lbs. When he gets his extra weight offf he'll be throwing down easy again.

I saw some guys from Valley throwing some down last year but I think that most of them have graduated. High school dunking is just...I don't know, not many players can do it BUT if and when they do in a game then it REALLY gets the crowd into it. Pregame dunking is cool I guess and it just shows that you can do it but without doing it in the game, what's the point?

One reason I think that players dont really try to dunk that much around here is because if they miss, they are afraid they will get laughed at. I look at it like this, if you can dunk in layups, or dunk when you are shooting by yourself, you should try it in a game. One of two things will happen, either you will make it or miss it, same as every other shot that is taken. If a player tries to dunk, and misses, at least he had the nerve to try it. That isnt a reason to laugh at them for attempting it.

I agree it will make the games more exciting. However a lay up is a def. two points, in a close game go with the lay up unless you can dunk on a consistent basis.

If you think you can make a dunk in a close game, I think you should try it. In almost every game, someone misses a shot up under the goal or a layup when they shoot them. So what is the difference?

A dunk gets the fans way more excited than a lay up.

He finally comes back from suspension tomorrow against Shelby Valley and he'll be playin JV as well. They also have Tyler Mullins who get a few down every time but they have another kid who threw down at Allen Central for the Blackcats during warm-ups and he busted the friggin rim! I don't know anything about him except that he's about 6'4'' or 6'5'' and his number is 44, thats it. I wanna know who that guy is cause he came out of nowhere on me and that usually doesn't happen.

Jamie McCarty is by far the best in the region......
I would say 8-9 players can throw it down clean for JC
There throwing it off the glass, off the lob, off the ground anyway you can think of.

What do you mean his coach cant see what he can do? He was either starting or getting major minutes untill his ankle sprain. He hasnt even dressed for games sense then. Could you explain that remark?
