Hazard hosted the "Hazard Shootout" this weekend...which teams stood out/played well/surprised you...and how do you think Hazard looked?

Since this is on the H.S. boys basketball forum, I assume that you are wanting to knoow about the boys games only. Jackson City and Cordia looked about even with neither team playing any defense nor showing much of an inside game. Both are very guard oriented. Lou Moore defeated Morgan County in a tough, physical game. Morgan was nursing some players back from injuries and Moore was pretty quick and surprisingly shot the ball well. Hazard seemed to be on all cylinders. They defeated Boyle Co by 22 and was up 30 with 4 minutes in the game. Boyle was without a couple of guards which would have affected the score some but Hazard shot the lights out. Hazard has shown in their two scrimmages that they can play inside and out. They seem to have a rotation in place and are playing hard. It was a good day of basketball.

Boyle Co. is the pre-season #1 team in the 12th region, according to the H-L, although I kinda give the nod to Lincoln Co., and their center is in the pre-season top 25 for players in the whole state.
I know the 2 guards you are talking about, and they aren't the kinda of scorers who can make up 22 points, let alone 30. Might have cut half that score, but not enough to win.
A good win, heading into the regular season, for the Dawgs.

Hazard straight up handled boyle county in this one with their outstanding defense gave the big guy fits all night...the inside game is really what is gonna do it for them this year if the can stay strong in the paint and open up the outside for their shooters who shot the ball very well in this game shooting somewhere around 50% from the arc on the night...i look for the bulldogs to be right there in the running for the 14th region title this year if they play this well throughout the season

Hazard could graduate every player off of their team and still be one of the best teams in the 14th. They have one of the best basektball traditions in the state of Ky. and one of the better coaching staffs in the mountains. Those two things alone make them contenders every year.
