I'm glad somebody finally decided to post this. Lawrence County boys will take home the region title again. Nathan Martin will win singles again and Tyler Maynard and Andy Delong will win the doubles title. I'm not sure about the girls but I think Morgan Co. is the favorite.

Yes, I don't think there is much competition for the Lawrence County boys team this year. I think as an overall team the boys will go to state. I'm not sure about the girls. Lawrence lost, imo, the only good girls player they had in Megan Sammons last year.

The Pike County fans and parents were rude last year at regionals but the actual players were quite friendly.

well i dont no for sure, but i was recently down in hazard and I was talking to people and they told me that there was a kid by the name of tyler olinger that can really play. His coach told me that kids wont even play him so he has to practice with older competition. They told me that this will be his first year playing and should do pretty good.

well we really cant look towards the future but if we could i would say the duo of tyler olinger and greg adams ( who i hear is related ) is going to be great i watched this duo at a football game at clay county and with Tyler olingers big arm and good running game , and Greg Adams quick feet and great catches, it would be a wonder if this future team wouldnt head towards louisville. This freshmen game turned out in Hazards favor 34 - 12. what do you all think of this duo ?

I believe Lawrence County is the favorite to win the doubles at region. Tyler Maynard and Andy DeLong lost in a close one in the semis last year and they are back as the favorite this year. Both have improved.

I've played Martin from Lawerence and there is no doubt that this kid is goin to take the singles title...good chance Lawerence will take the doubles too..pburg and Morgan improved last year but they will be nowhere near lawerence co.'s depth...Paintsville, Pikeville, and Sheldon Clark will be down this year so look out for Lawerence to dominate...

I personally think jonathan howard will do good in the 15th region, he has improved alot since last year and has managed to get his self confidence back up to speed. He gave perry a good match last year at home. Trust me people will be surprised.

As for our teams (IF WE HAD A FREAKING COACH!!!) id say Josey and Jaryd will do good in doubles, and i might do ok in singles for girls. As far as girls doubles goes forget about it, and guys singles is a tossup as well. I think Paintsvilles good girl was a senior and Lawrence countys girls are all gone as well i do believe. Lawrence Co.'s girls team will not be that competitive this year. They will be lucky to win a match IMO. The boys on the other hand should come out on top and make their second straight trip to state tournament led by #1 doubles Tyler Maynard & Andrew Delong and #2 doubles Mitch Copley & J.L. Hylton. You also have to throw in the #1 singles player in the region freshman, Nathan Martin. I think come tournament time these kids will score enough points to earn Lawrence their second straight boys regional title! These guys should be able to become very successful and with 5 of the top 6 of the boys seniors, I'm sure they can handle the success!

Well Lawrence's best girls player Megan Sammons graduated last year and moved on to play at Morehead St. And I'm thinking that there were 2 other girls on the team that were seniors. The girls team this year just doesn't have the skill and athleticism.

Lawrence takes care of sheldon clark no problem. Lawrence's #4 seed beat SC's #1 in singles. LC's #1 doubles takes their match no contest! LC looks to be rolling going into tomorrow's match, a real tester, at Cabell Midland!

Lawrence's boys stay undefeated this week by beating WV power Cabell Midland and Paintsville. The dawgs travel to Morgan Co. Friday!

Lawrence has a very good boys team. They beat Paintsville boys, which is a very good and balanced team by only 5-4. However, the match could have just as easily been Paintsville 7-2 or Lawrence 6-3, as both teams had players that didn't do their best and the wind was terrible. Plus Paintsville didn't have their #4 seed, and had to use their #7 seed. Still, hats off to a very competitive Lawrence team that has IMO the best #1 seed in the Region!

Singles...Lost against Morgan and Pike Central but i lost to Pike Central In a tie Breaker...haha Allie Nickell Just plain out stomped me at Morgan. During Sheldon Clarks Game i was Gone to Louisville for FBLA state conference. Oh yea.. i beat P-burg, Breathitt, And Paintsville.

Doubles...Me and My partner have only lost to Morgans Number one seeded doubles team..and we lost to them in a third set game 7-5.

Woah I'm not quite sure where you got this information from but I'm almost positive you are incorrect. The only team in the 15th that won't play someone is Pikeville. They have avoided Lawrence County's Coach's calls, e-mails, etc....

big guy '06, I'm not sure as to the reason, but I do know that Lawrence would only schedule Paintsville once. Don't mean to imply that they are afraid they will lose! Actually the Paintsville / Lawrence match was fairly equal on the boys side, Nathan excluded. Could have gone either way.

Playing each team in the region once is a smart move. I think Lawrence plays several teams that are out of the region. It also allows rain dates to get all regional matches in. Sounds like good coaching!!! Lawrence's coach is a veteran and does not dodge strong teams.

If I was these other teams, I wouldn't want to play Lawrence County. Go play an easier team, and that will increase your chances of bringing home a victory. Lawrence County won the region last year easily, winning both the singles and doubles brackets, and I bet ya anything it will happen again then year.

[B]I'm very proud of Pike Central's tennis team. We just started this year, and for a beginning team, we're doing decent. Brennan Alderman has been playing for a long time, but other than that this sport is new to all of us.

First, I know that Lawrence hasn't beat everyone they have played in girls tennis, so I assume we are talking about boys?? Second, they only beat Paintsville 5-4 at Lawrence and I am sure that IF they would have played Painstville again they may very well have lost the boys match. Paintsville was without their #4 boys seed in that match and the #5 boys seed and #2 boys doubles didn't play that well. I don't see anyone beating Nathan in singles this year, but beyond that Lawrence is not guaranteed anything........?

Yeah I'm pretty sure going 40-4 in games on Saturday pretty much showed the dominance of the lawrence co. #1 boys doubles. Their #2 doubles didn't look bad, they just seemed to kind of blow up in the semifinals. I think a little bit of that was nerves and just not having enough fuel in the tank. I think Chad Williams will have his boys ready to go come tournament time. I say they pick up their second straight regional title and the girls doubles team of Hardin and Cartmel have a legitimate shot at making it to state after making it to the finals, in my opinion. If Martin and the doubles team of Maynard/Delong (#1) win both titles, I only see Lawrence needing one more point to take home the team trophy. Unless the #2 doubles team gets a rancid draw, I think the Dawgs will head home from Prestonsburg toting a 15th Regional Championship trophy next week. Lawrence travels to Ashland Tennis Center to play East Carter on Wednesday. Spencer v. Nathan should be an impecable match! I see Martin taking it in a close match. Their final match (Senior Day) on Saturday will be at 11 AM vs. Raceland. Then it's serious practice until tournament time!

big guy "06 it depends on the draw. Lawrence #2 boys dbls aren't that bad, but they aren't top 3 in the region. I don't see LC bring home a team title, but of course it is possible. Morgan's #1 boys dbls were not there Sat. and Paintsville didn't play their #1 dbls either, as they chose to play singles. So there are some very good boys dbls that didn't play Sat. IMO I only see LC winning boys singles and boys #1 dbls.

As for girls, LC's #1 dbls. didn't win Sat. and aren't likely to win at regionals. Would have to give a big edge to Morgan's #1 dbls. And there were other #1 dbls. that weren't there Sat. So we'll have to see............

Boys dbls: Lawrence #1 (no big surprise), but LC #2 was taken out in semis and Paintsville #1 dbls. played singles and Paintsville #2 dbls. knocked out early by LC #1 (Morgan #1 dbls. not present)

Girls dbls: Morgan Co. with some others not present but IMO not relevant.

Regional team title will come down to who chooses to play singles or doubles and what draw each gets.

Lawrence tried to schedule Ashland, Ashland would not schedule them. Lawrence played Russel, Cabell Midland, and Ironton. These teams are very strong. Also played East Carter (their 1 seed is very strong)

I do agree that team play between Paintsville and Lawrence is very even and could go either way.

But you have to look at how many points each team will get and Martin getting the singles title and the doubles team gettin the doubles title.. at regionals they will be hard to beat. Same situation with Morgan's girls.

Well as for team winner at regionals, that is true! But a lot of it will come down to the draw. But it doesn't hurt LC to have what would seem to be a lock on #1 boys singles and #1 boys doubles.

As a team in season match play, I was saying that Paintsville boys are as strong or possibly even better than LC, even though LC does have the #1 boys single and #1 boys doubles. But at region, Paintsville would only be a strong second, with LC having the best shot at winning as a team.
