I have done some research and the best I can come up with is 1998, the last time Magoffin beat the Wildcats. May be a sign of things to come. Magoffin always a tough place to play. Am I invited to the party since my Rebels lost?

You could see this last year in just the few games I saw Valley play. They got worse as the season progessed. Looks like a once strong program is on a down hill slide with no future unless something happens.

I never made a prediction on this game, so I don't know how I was wrong, except for maybe ranking Magoffin County pretty low....I can admit Magoffin Co. is better than I thought they'd be this year, but I still say they won't make regional tournament...But I'll be man enough not to rub it in your face when they don't....

I'm not sure about last year...They couldn't have gotten much worse as the season progressed if they won the region???

But unless the kids from Virgie and Dorton come to Shelby Valley and play and don't quit then I think SV could be on a severe down hill slide...

Shelby Valley played great for most of the game. They were draining 3's all night long. But Magoffin played well enough to hang in with them and put themselves in a position to win at the end of the game.

The Hornets seemed to chip away at Shelby Valley's lead only to have the Valley stretch it back out again. I can't tell you how many times The Valley fought back a Hornet charge.

But late in the 4th quarter, the Hornets made a charge that The Valley couldn't answer. Shelby Valley may have taken a couple of ill-advised shots during this run. But I don't think that was the deciding factor. I think what made the difference on Magoffin's final run was their heart! They rebounded with more tenacity than in the entire rest of the game. They just wanted it. They refused to lose.

A real key to the victory was when sophomore Tyler Hunley for Magoffin chased down (fought for) a couple of loose balls at the end of the game. The Valley was fighting hard to get the lead back. Had they gotten those loose balls, they may well have won the game.

Do you see a pattern? Magoffin played well as a team - even when Shelby Valley maintained a lead throughout most of the game. Excellent passing. Good patience (with only a few exceptions) on offense. Great determination at the end of the game!

Keep this kind of effort up, Hornets, - and improve on it - and you will have a great season!

Have-it-ur-way......Ive been saying this for quite some time now, I'm glad that someone actually sees this and agrees with me.Now that the coaching staff there has ran them off lets see what they got to play with come this year. If anybody on here goes and watches a SV game this year take a good look at the Varsity bench, because every person setting on that bench consists of the whole team Freshman, JV, and Varsity players, thats how many players they have ran off enough for the entire team to fit on one bench.
