A House Republican has sent a note of apology to first lady Michelle Obama for saying she has a "large posterior."

Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner, R-Wis., was overheard in a lounge at Reagan National Airport talking about Mrs. Obama's healthy eating program.

"She lectures us on eating right while she has a large posterior herself," reported Fishbowl.com.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel noted that Sensenbrenner also said Mrs. Obama has a "big butt" during a recent appearance in his district.

"I regret my inappropriate comment and I have sent a personal note to the First Lady apologizing," Sensenbrenner said in a statement.
