I will be very surprised if we don't see another Jenkins/Estill County region championship game. Both teams are gonna be very very good. Estill will be better than 2013. Lady Engineers will have speed at every position, return both starting pitchers and the best hitter in 2013.

I think Estill repeats as region champs
#3
Jackson City will be the surprise team in 2014. They have several girls coming out that started in previous years that sat out last year. Katie Turner, Olivia Moore, Shey Trent and Grace Bio have all been playing summer, fall, and now indoor ball in Richmond at diamond 5 baseball. Jackson's coach helps all girls in the region by setting up lessons with Kelley Anderson who comes down to Jackson every Sunday. Grace Bio Who had 3 HR last year as a freshman also had 3 HR in summer ball. Shey Trent recorded 2 HR last season as a freshman.
#4
Leslie has some young players that are good. They had 5 homeruns hit last year and 4 of them were by freshmen Morgan Pugh (2) and Lyndsey Shepherd (2).
#5
I myself would love to see Estill play more teams in their region during the regular season. I think we will be surprised by their improvement over last year. Both pitchers have been taking lessons from a coach in Lancaster. I hear they have both improved greatly. Of course, Gross will be the starting pitcher, but a good backup helps. This group of girls shall have speed at every position on the field and this is a big change from the last several years. There are 2 really good catchers to choose from as well. Zoe Deaton and Jordan Rose. Deaton should prove to be big hitter too. This with Rawlins and speed on the bases from the others should greatly improve their offense.
#6
When other teams in the 14th travel to other parts of the state and play stronger teams they will start to have the success that Estill has. When Jenkins played teams away they took the region title. I understand that it can be expensive but if you want to be the best you have to sacrafice time and money.
#7
Wished Perry would do this more in the summer and fall.Only gripe you hear from most kids and parents is that we don't play a little more. Some individual players find teams but would like to see a core group stay and play together throughout the year.
#8
I think Letcher Central will be better this year. They have the field, and some of the problems with them last year graduated, and I think you will see a new team. They will be a factor and may surprise some people.

My Priorities are:
1)God
2)Family
3)Cougar Athletics!

Everything else doesn't matter![/COLOR]

I don't think the field matters, but with that being said I've said for two years now that they should be a contender but it hasn't happened yet . I don't whats wrong I hope it's fixed but we will see.
#10
Old man , I look for perry to be a team to watch out for .
#11
Two team race, Estill and Jenkins at the top. Perry Central and Letcher are improving, but still a ways off from the top two. Others are all very long shots.
#12
Not much in the 14th other than Estill, Jenkins and possible Powell or Perry other than that don't see anything. I wouldn't play anyone in the 14th other than who I had to play. I think Powell may be a sleeper but coaching staff hurts them.
#13
I realize that distance is a problem for many schools, but there are so many tournaments and triangles on weekends that would be great for these teams to participate in. Estill does play a decent schedule.
#14
Walter I agree with you. With so many weekend tournaments I would not play some games during the week to save and play weekend tournaments.
#15
I agree to get better they must play better competition .
#16
I see Wolfe winning their district
#17
Letcher Central will be a different team this year. They will be the biggest surprise of the 14th region.
