The big 'contributing' player lost by Powell, however, was a very important one....Mullins!
Those kind of players are hard to replace. You make it sound easy. It won't be.

I like how powell co. ppl on here take so much control and are cocky about district this yr... personally I think powell is giving every person on her lead way to shut down thier top players! It's not all fun in games when it comes down to buisness.. I guess yall are too busy on here talkin b/s and not in the gym practicing your butts off... I know Estill is in the gym 24/7... they are in there 3 hrs. every day! But it's up for grabs this yr. if you want it so bad powell... go to the gym and practice... cause you dont see anyone else on here sayin to much about there team... atleast they are being SMART and not giving away there 5 starters and tellin there potential on here so every one can read it and be able to shut them down... personally I hope Owsley or ESTILL walks away with the title this yr.

For one you dont know how much powell practices so you shouldnt even bring that into this. I am glad that estill is working their butts off but you have no right especially when you don't know about powell. For two your on here doing the same thing. You are very hypocritical.

Is someone intemadated?? Did you ever happen to think that powell county players arent the ones posting things on here? And they are in the gym. Powells been working their butts off all summer and now, they want it just as bad as anyone else in the district if not more. But maybe estill county should of thought of it not all being fun and games last year when powell beat them in district.I hope the best team wins this year. But just because powell has alot of support and confidence in this years team, doesnt mean they are being cocky.:argue:

I 100% agree with Inyoureye4 i just think that other counties are a little worried what powell has in store , so to comfort themselves they talk smack about powell to make them feel better.... im glad you know so much about powell county and what they have been doing... cause im afraid your in for a big suprise!!! GO LADY PIRATES!!!!

How many times has Powell County been in the state tournament?
Answer: Never.
And that won't change this year.

I haven't been on here in a while, but I'm sure every team in this district is practicing their hind-ends off at this point. They are getting ready for season. I do know one thing it will be very interresing at the district games this year, because as much as we all talk back and forth, fighting and bickering among ourselfs. We've started a war, and someone (team) has to finish it!!

I agree nothing-but-net Estill is in the big picture and also lee has a new coach this year and they might be alittle problom but not to big for estill or powell but it will come down to heart for the districts agin this yr estill has the experince and so does powell but estill might just want it more

I think it is funny how every one can put powell down and say they dont practice and dont work there butts off you say estill is in the gym every day 24/7 and that estill is go good that is why they got beat by burgon saturday the 18th and now you see how hard powell plays by watching them saturday beating danvillie you have not said a word powell has lost one player from last year and you all say that will hurt them a whole well your wrong every one on varstiy is stepping up to fill her postion and you all seen that saturday and oh yea the only thing estill whent to state in is softball that is only good sport estill has!!!!Go pirates !!!!:1:

i agree with this 100%...I heard that estill looked horrible against burgon. Apparently being in the gym 24/7 isn't workin out for em. :dontthink

I agree 100% with you to if estill is in the gym 24/7 they might need to work a little harder and stop playing around because if they are there 24/7 it is not working at all because they done horrible aginst burgon i have not heard how powell play but i would like to know

I heard powell played pretty good. Coming into their first scrimmage of the season and coming out with a pretty good win. And another win against bath wednesday. They had very balanced scoring/assists/passing, and were working very well as a team. I think estill may of just had a bad game against burgin. You cant base how a team is going to be during season on just one game. But looking at that.maybe they do need to spend some more time in the gym. Powell opens up with cordia monday for the first regular season game. So we can see how they go up against them. Good luck to all the teams this season. Tongue

First of all... we didnt get beat by Burgon... If you remember.. if u watched we were ahead in the first half by 10! Then when Burgom come out in the 2nd half they were the ones that wanted to clear the scores back to 0 to 0. And then in the 2nd half they beat us by 2 points.. so all in all Estill beat them by 8 pts. So you need to get ur facts straight!

It dosnt really matter who "wanted to clear the scores". if i remember they did that with every game that was played that day. I dont think that Estill played very good at all, no matter who won. Powell played great that day. they play well as a team and i see alot of potential as the season contenues and look to see powell take home district,do good in reigon and be possiable state contendors.

I think Powell. By losing a senior last year they still have a good team. They have courtney jones, savannah, ashely lacey, and shelby barnett to make up for losing her. Courtney in my opinion is a good player she knows what she is doing and makes good choices in what she does. Tharpe is always a good player down low I think it will be a good competition on who plays low the most between tharpe and mcfarland because they are both really good players.
