Kentucky Wesleyan 33 Livingstone 13

OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan College football team posted its first win of the season on Saturday in convincing fashion, downing Livingstone College 33-13 at Steele Stadium. The Panthers tabbed 341 yards of total offense to improve to 1-1 on the season while the Blue Bears fall to 0-2.

Kentucky Wesleyan's offense was off to a hot start with a 40-yard kick off return by Jared Beard followed by a 29-yard completion from quarterback Mike McGee to Ladarrius Dunn. Chris Logsdon nailed a 41-yard field goal to put the Panthers ahead 3-0 after their first drive of the game.

The Bears scored the first touchdown of the game with 4:53 remaining in the first quarter to take a 7-3 lead, their lone lead of the game.

McGee connected with Dunn to start the second quarter, this time good for a 18-yard touchdown. Logsdon's extra attempt was good to help the Panthers regain a 10-7 lead.

Logsdon's ensuing kick off went 50-yards and Martavius Carter made a tackle for loss to keep the Bears at their own 12-yard line. Jonathan Dooley broke thru the offensive line to make a tackle in the end zone, resulting in a safety for Kentucky Wesleyan.

Two drives later, another strong defensive stand gave the Panthers the ball nearly in the red zone at Livingstone's 28-yard line. McGee found Derek Barnes in the end zone for a 17-yard pass. Logsdon's converted the extra point to put the Panthers ahead 19-7, a score that would stick until halftime.

Kentucky Wesleyan scored a pair of touchdowns in the third quarter to jump out to a 33-7 lead. A quick offense moved 42-yards in just under three minutes with Ahmad Mitchell capping off the drive with a 5-yard touchdown pass.

During Livingstone's ensuing drive, Myles Walker forced a fumble at midfield that was recovered by Devyn Bledsoe and taken 53-yards to the end zone, putting the Panthers ahead 33-7.

The Bears scored a touchdown on their final drive of the game. The two-point conversion was failed to make the score 33-13.

McGee finished with 20 completions for 255-yards and three touchdowns. Ahmad Mitchell led the Panthers with 39-yards on seven rushes, averaging 5.6-yards per play. Corey Johnson tabbed 37-yards off of seven carries while Myles Walkers tabbed 16-yards.
Ladarrius Dunn led all receivers with 88-yards on five catches and one touchdown. Travell Brown tabbed 55-yards while Derek Barnes reached 38-yards and one touchdown. Ahmad Mitchell tabbed the third receiving touchdown for the Panthers.

Dalan Cofer led the defense with nine tackles, five of which were solo. Curtis Johnson reached seven tackles while Michael Malone and Jonathan Dooley tabbed six. The Panther defense forced three fumbles while holding the Bears to 259-yard of total offense.
