President Obama's Presidential Address
#1
Did anybody else catch this?

Among other things, he went into the financial crisis.

I was impressed with Barack's Presidential address, and the rebuttal by the Republicans just seemed like "oh, they're just going to waste your tax money and their plan won't work."

He said that programs will be put into place to help families and give more money to education, and the banks will be bailed out to give out more loans and things.

He said that the new jobs created by fixing the roads and everything will also stimulate the economy by giving people more money to spend, which will then also increase sales and bring more jobs.

He's going to try and bring jobs back to the US, as well as finding more power sources and alternatives to oil.

He did say that they weren't going to increase taxes unless you make over $250,000 a year, which the Republicans bashed as him being hypocritical because he said all along that there would be no tax increases, but over $250,000 is only the top 2% of America.

I've been critical about Barack all along and thought that his plans wouldn't work, but I was impressed with the way that he presented all of his ideas and plans to improve things.

I'm on the Barack train now and he has my support and confidence.

Throw in any points that I forgot or that you were impressed with.

Get used to it Old School Obama is the real deal. A peoples President with a no nonsense disposition.

Very popular and appealing!

The Republicans have nothing new to offer and we saw what their "old " ideas got us into.

I see even more Republicans loosing their seats in 2010!

Maybe to independents maybe not but Republican incumbents will be running for shelter and slinging tons of mud.

You'll learn after a while that Barry's not the real deal.

I will agree that he is very popular for now, but let's see how popular and appealing he is down the line.

Spend, spend, spend...is an old idea the democrats used back during the depression, and that didn't work out very well then and I doubt it will work today. Japan tried to spend their way out in the 90's and that didn't work either. I have just one question how are we going to pay for all this spending? I understand Barry's asking for another +400B to finish out this fiscal year.

If the stimulus plan works, then the dems will win more seats, but if it doesn't then the GOP will be back in business in 2010. Look back at recent history the Democrats controled the senate for a while (around 94)until they became complacent and were ousted by the GOP. The GOP controlled the senate for about 12 years, until 2006 when they also became complacent, it's just a matter of time until the democrats get into their comfort zone. Lately this seems to run in 10 year cycles.

Why does everyone seem to forget his cuts in spending and the measures the stimulus bill takes that will end up saving Billions over the next 2 years?

What spending cuts are you referring to? He just signed a 800B stimulus plan, and is wanting another+400B to finish out 2009 and is proposing +600B Health care plan. So exactly how do his plan save billions over the nest 2 years.
